This is beyond tragic, Bob.  "No justice, no peace."

If this had been one of my cats, I'd have most definantly commited excessive bodily harm upon the attacker.

Lemme clairify.  If a human did this to one of my cats, the human would suffer the same fate to see what it felt like ~

Didn't mean to alarm ya BP ~

Bob has attacked me several times, and I smacked his ass, but never has he walked away with broken teeth, broken ribs, a broken leg, a torn tongue, massive internal injuries including bruised lungs and a bruised liver and a chest cavity filled with blood.

The dumbest quote in that article: "Hochbaum complained the district attorney's office never offered his client a plea deal. He said outside court he believes that was because of the publicity the case attracted and the urgings of cat fanciers."

WTH? The DA does not have an obligation to offer a plea deal... LOL! Who cares why the DA didn't offer a plea deal... you're LUCKY to get a plea deal when it happens. Maybe he isn't offered a deal because it's an open and shut prosecution. He deserves two years AT LEAST.

yeah, that was a laugher alright. Though what the DA should have offered was a sentence that involved tarring, feathering, and display in a cage at a series of cat shows, with a large-type description of his crime posted next to plenty of pointy sticks handy for poking. No deal?  Well, I'll see ya in court, then...

though this person may derserve 2 years in jail if convicted, its still pretty messed up in every level imaginable that you can get more time in jail by killing at cat than you can from killing a person or raping a person..

that is just totally not right.

Just did a quick google on this; according to USDOJ stats from 1999 (might have changed; kinda doubt if the change is huge, though), average sentence for murder was 253 months (a little over 21 years) and for rape was 170 months (just over 14 years). Average time served was doubtless less than that, but in general anyone convicted of either of those crimes is going to be behind bars substantially more than two years.

I have a hard time with things like this.  I don't understand wanting to cry and hurt someone at the same time.  It conflicts so much.

I don't care to judge, but I will make an exquisite executioner.
