unfortunately that isn't one

that is a dumb human story

some dewd tries to give a chick some free weed in exchange for some free food and she turns him in to the police

sounds to me like a story of someone who needs to hit the bubbler a little more often

if he's high enough to be offering her weed instead of money, then he does not need to be driving. good for her for turning him in.

its stupid. he's under the influence. he should not be driving. his reactions aren't what they should be.

just because you haven't seen an accident caused by being high on weed doesn't make it ok.

i wasn't attributing right and wrong to the situation

no moral judgement here

and I'm not saying that a person that is DUI on pot hasn't killed people

but

I haven't seen it

only seen horrible life changing accidents occure using the legal drug

he had pot, he smoked pot. he smoked pot and drove.

that's at least 2 laws broken. depending on how much he had, one could have been a felony.

dumb criminal. never offer to pay for anything in pot unless you know the person.
if you've been smoking it and think it would work then that shows how far under the influence you are.

we rail on people for talking on the cell phone while driving. driving while drowsy is now treated almost like DUI. (at least in PA)
i have seen people who wrecked because they were baked. not everything can be solved by taking a few hits.

STOP SUPPORTING INTERNATIONAL TERRORISM!  :P

the article does not mention he was high. are we just assuming he was because of what he tried to do?

I'd say that's a fair assumption...

[clap] [clap] Not very surprised at the result. Not that one person is an accurate representation of the public as a whole etc...

Seems about right. Paranoid, Careful... etc.

Not only that but the THC stays in your system for weeks. long after the effects are gone. What if beer stayed in your system for weeks?

I cant believe they are still wasting taxpayers money prosecuting, enforcing, and jailing people behind this stuff. They could save soooo much money by legalizing it, and at the same time reduce crime that revolves around the fact that it's illegal.

Not only could they save money, they could make a TON of money off of it.

Note the difference between legalizing and decriminalizing.  Decriminalizing is the way it works with alcohol.

I think if they did that and regulated it there'd be a ton of tax money to be had.

it would be great if they legalized it! everything would be so much better.

I don't think the intent of the OP was to 'spark' a discussion on legalization...

It's fine if you guys want that, but it should happen in the politics board.

Let me know if you'd like it moved.

either BBC or CBC here in canada did a special on this... they had a guy do a driving obstacle course straight, and then another one after a joint. he performed BETTER after a smoke.

the rational for this went something like this

'Although acute cannabis intoxication following smoking has been shown to mildly impair psychomotor skills, this impairment is seldom severe or long lasting. In closed course and driving simulator studies, marijuana's acute effects on psychomotor performance include minor impairments in tracking (eye movement control) and reaction time, as well as variation in lateral positioning, headway (drivers under the influence of cannabis tend to follow less closely to the vehicle in front of them), and speed (drivers tend to decrease speed following cannabis inhalation). In general, these variations in driving behavior are noticeably less consistent or pronounced than the impairments exhibited by subjects under the influence of alcohol. Also, unlike subjects impaired by alcohol, individuals under the influence of cannabis tend to be aware of their impairment and try to compensate for it accordingly, either by driving more cautiously or by expressing an unwillingness to drive altogether.'

pass it over man!
