Title: Arrow Carbon Slip-ons on M696
Post by: wisdesign on October 26, 2008, 02:23:42 PM
In case anyone's wondering how they look.  Wasn't a huge fan of the shape of the tips (which look like they're removable), but they've grown on me.  BTW... with the db killers removed, this thing sounds like the GOD of THUNDER !  [thumbsup]

Nice comparison to my buddy's stock system too...

Look great!  what kind of bar end mirrors are those.  I might be interested!

Very nice!  Any chance you could take some closer shots
so I can see some detail. They are on my short list, but
they don't have a picture of the carbon ones on their site.
I even emailed them for one and they couldn't give me
one.
Also, how does it run compared to the stock cans?
Do you envision needing additional tuning?

Thanks.

I'm trying to decide between Arrow and Termi.    Are you able to post more close up photos?  and are you able to do some video or audio clips of the exhaust so we can hear how loud it is?

The mirrors are CRG hindsight lane splitters on Rhino-moto bar ends (which I highly recommend for fitting these mirrors).

Here's some close-ups of the Arrow system...

I'm a big fan thus far... bike sounds great and seems to run better overall as well. Starts great, idles great, and runs great.  I've got the db killers in now, but I thought it ran much better without them in - it was just retarded loud.  With them in, it's just a bit louder than stock, but with a more throaty, purposeful tone. If I didn't commute daily and ride through a neighboorhood with kids and old folk, I'd consider leaving them out.  The bike is definitely not showing me any signs that it's in need of an ECU tune...

BTW - I love the termis too, just wanted to try something different plus these were cheaper and didn't require the ecu swap.  I'd say go for the termis... 'cause I'm diggin' being original...   [moto]

I'll see if I can get some video up within the next day or so if the weather holds out.

Thanks bro! I think you just sold a set of Arrows.
I was leaning towards The Sc Project, or the Termi's,
but those look sweet.
BTW- Did you have to pay extra for the carbon caps,
or is that how they come? I f you don't mind me askin'.....
How much, and where did you procure them?

Good Luck!

Cool, man.  Glad you dig them.  The way their shown is how they come straight out of the box. They're more impressive in real life, but then... what isn't, right?  Oh yeah... a Triumph Street Triple.   ;D

So here's the story... I walk into my local Ducati dealer (Shameless plug), Hansen's Motorcycles in Medford, OR and ask them "what's new?".  Well... I've been bugging Mason, the cat that runs the store, to get me a deal on some Termis he had on their showroom demo bike.  Well... that bike sold with the Termis and it just so happens that Mason's just got in the new Arrow slip-on kit from the Arrow rep and is anxious to see them on a bike.  I never stood a chance... Mason gave me a deal and Mark, one of their service guys (and badass 749 rider) offered to do the install on the spot for free.  Not sure the exact cost of the kit (do I really WANT to know?) 'cause I got some other stuff at the same time, but I think they were around $900, which is still way cheaper than the carbon termis... and I could put the money saved towards other goodies.  Like I said... I dig the termis, but if you want something a little different, check these out.  You won't be disappointed.

Thanks man.   Great photos.... If I go arrow you will still be original.  I have a dark 696 and thinking of doing the Ti cans w/ carbon caps.   Oh... but sorry I have red rim strips too.  ;D  What are you going to do next so I can plan to do it as well.   [cheeky]

Appreciate the photos you put up.

Ha!... that's what I love about what Ducati's done with the Monster... it's so customizable that we can all have a bike that's perfect for our own unique taste!  If you're counting, though, here's the list of mods (in no particular order)...

Headlamp Surround - blacked out.

Reflectived Red Rim Strips.

Exhaust heat shield - blacked out.

Competition Werkes Tail Chop Kit.

DP LED front turnsignals.

CRG Hindsight Lane-splitters with RhinoMoto bar ends.

Arrow Carbon Slip-ons.

Emissions Canister Delete / + Euro side shroud

Coming soon...

AGV "Unbreakable" Brake and Clutch Levers

... gotta find some rearsets.... any suggestions????

However, best perfomance enhancing mod so far... 2,200 miles of riding!

The bike looks great!  [thumbsup]  I really like the look of the Arrows.  Did Arrow or Hansen's provide any specific performance gains?

There was a thread suggesting the S*R rearsets would work if you don't need pillion pegs:  http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=5887.15

Back to the Arrows. I'm undecided between the arrows and termi's . Does anyone have a good explanation as to why the arrows don't use an ecu and filter and the termis do.  Asked my dealer this weekend and they seem to intimate that why bother unless an ecu and filter is installed. Any ideas?

I´m starting to question myself if the Zards will be better than this ones  [bang]
I like a lot the Arrow - but with inox cap.
And, we must waiting for the Akrapovics too  [coffee]

the DP ECU that comes with the termi kit is $1200 (MSRP) if you try to buy it on its own.

Wisdesign, does it come with it's own heat guard? Or can the OEM heat guard be installed on these Arrows. It looks like my lady wouldn't like it too much if it burns

And, we must waiting for the Akrapovics too  [coffee]

I emailed Akrapovics a few time asking if there will ever be a system for our 696 and I never get a reply back :-\

I'll wait patiently until the next riding season. If there's no news from Akr I will definately make this Arrows my choice. Sorry Wisdesign, but don't worry, I'll have a Rizoma bar end mirror instead.

No heat guard and I don't think the stock parts will fit as there is no mounting for them.  That said, the carbon doesn't get nearly as hot as the stock metal silencers.  Went for a ride with my girlfriend this past weekend with no issuses or complaints.

No worries... I wouldn't mind having another Arrow kit owner running around the forum... less questions for me to answer! [beer]

On the ecu issue... yeah, I also found it strange that the termis required a remap and filter while the Arrows do not.  It may be a pure power and tuning thing, or... maybe it's a noise and emissions thing since the termis are a "Ducati approved" and offered kit?  Either way, the termis are probably a great deal, but it's still more money.  Also... I'm not sure how light the termis are, but I held both the Arrow and the stock muffler in each hand, and I'd guess this took AT LEAST 10 lbs. off the rearend.  That's gotta be worth something, right?

Well... after a quick look at pics of Zard for M696  [puke] my options are now:
1- Arrow Carby w/ Stainless end cap
2- Akrapovic (I think they only made them Ti)
3- Termi´s

I also send them a e-mail and... guess what!? ... No answer  [popcorn]

There is any way to get off the "Arrow" logo from slp-ons and leave no traces of it? I Think below the logo there is 2 holes  [laugh]

Thank you for the e-mail.
We have this bike or better said exhaust for this bike in our R&D plan. It should be available somewhere at the beginning of next year, before season starts. No additional information are available at the moment.

Thank you for understanding.

Nice, thanks for the update pjfa. My riding season is about to be over and I am glad i waited. But no thanks for getting me all excited for the next few months [cheeky]

Hopefully it's worth the wait
