The numbers describing the TNT in the "czar" are staggering!  10x's more explosives than all of those used in the war?!  IN ONE BOMB!!   :o

I know it probably doesn't compare to the nukes we have now.

I wouldn't say that. I have spent a good amount of time training soldiers from that part of the Globe. No real worries. Seriously.

No. Current weapons have smaller yields. We just use more of them.

No, by no means. Kinda like a coach at a shitty college. You get what you get and have to work with it.  ;)

Not only did the shock wave TRAVEL around the globe three times, but it was still measurable at that "distance".

Until you realize the hard way that a quite a few of those Afghan soldiers that you are "working with" are actually Taliban sympathizers...

'fallout' is radioactive dust / dirt etc. produced when the nuclear processes occur near the ground (i.e. embedding
neutrons into the surrounding material).  in a (high altitude) air burst, the neutrons are largely absorbed by
the intervening atmosphere.

why/how would you have known that?

Honestly I'd be more worried about poorly maintained nuclear reactors in the East than leftover bombs. They still dig up bombs in France and Belgium from the First World War, it's not just the former USSR that continues to be a risk. In fact there is an undetonated super-mine underneath a French farm that they can't remove safely, so the owner of the property just has to live knowing that an errant lightning strike could blow his house sky high (it's happened before).

Nuclear wise, there can always be another Chernobyl, which was relatively well contained for a near-total meltdown. It would be some bad shit if there were a complete meltdown that escaped containment.

Well, the nuclear explosion would likely yeild high energy (fast) neutrons which would make it to the ground. Neutrons are not usually a problem unless ingested or inhaled...

Oops, got that mixed up with alpha particles. Alphas can be blocked with a piece of paper, while neutrons can penetrate the body and cause neutron activation of several normal elements in the body such as sodium...

You wouldn't even have to see their hair to know that. Just listening would have been sufficient evidence.
