Oh well.. at least it went to a good home. [thumbsup] [thumbsup]
I've got a 65 mustang that is in process of being restored...
unfortunately, the fact that i need a REAL car to drive has forced me to consider selling it.
if anyone is interested, its a 65 coupe with new floors, new trunk floor, new quarter panels, fresh rustproofing, and COMPLETELY disassembled.
I also have about $5000 worth of high perf. suspension parts and a new custom fabbed 9-inch rear end with disc brakes for it too...
it's a complete suspension. minus front brakes and steering parts.
all for sale...
:'(
Get some brakes on that thing ASAP. [laugh]
I remember when you bought that Stu. What happened?
Got an ol' '65 F100 I'm in love with. That thing saved me from a long hard death(got me sober). Still runs as a dailey driver. I'll get some pics.

Drop the flames and make the red into white, and that's what I have in mind.
Now I just need to con RB into doing that one as a freebie ;D

I just helped my wife's co-worker put seatbelts in his Falcon. He's stoked that he can put his little one's car seat in now. I might have to get your disc setup so he can get working brakes on that thing now.
Congrats on the new ride!
Congrats on the ride.
As the owner of a classic car get ready for the following:
- always having a conversation at a gas station - even if you don't want it
- dealing with other drivers ignorant to your classic car
- dumb questions with Ducati's? Wait!!! (Do you have airbags?) [laugh]
- feeling the urge to go to classic car shows, even though you know they're a drag.
Sorry - had to be a ball-buster for a minute 8)
You will make every single ride in it an event.
You can be proud of your place in the world when surrounded by Minivans and SUV's [thumbsup]
...and just remember, it can all be done with patience, time and money.
Congrats!

To put it in perspective......
On the Chrysler.....I spent more on everything from *just* the intake up....than I paid for the Falcon.
This thing will be terribly clean and just driven daily. I'm not building it up.

Well, I've totally failed on the "not building it up" thing.
Pics will come but since I've gotten my hands on this beast the following has been performed:
New rear springs-the back end now sits where it should, and it no longer makes horrible noises while cornering.
Front 1.25" sway bar. No body roll now ;D
The upper and lower control arms have been replaced, as they were shot. The ball joints were at a point where one could almost physically pull them apart by hand. Frightening. The upper control arms were lowered at the same time, to give it better steering geometry. This car now corners exceptionally well.
'62 Falcon canyon carver? Sure, why not?
The idler arm has been replaced, there is no longer slop in the steering.
The original cheeseball gauges have been removed, and a billet piece with aftermarket gauges fitted in their place.
The electric fuel pump it came with was obnoxiously loud. Just....irritating. I rewired it so it's inline, and put a mechanical pump in. I now have a backup pump.
Misc other wiring and what not has been tweaked. Almost where I want it mechanically-talking to my painter next week about it 8)
[evil]

Cast iron distributor gear for a small block Ford which is incompatible with a roller camshaft in the long term. Bronze gears solve the problem of hunting and wandering ignition timing.

one wheel burnouts suck. ;-)
Needs a 9" with posi and 3.73s [evil]
9" is a waste of time with a small block ford, the 8" is more than strong enough and is the same design with the rear bearing support on the pinion gear, with the added benefit of being much lighter. Get an 8" posi with 3.50s or 3.80s...

Who says I'm going to keep the small block?
Besides, the current one is starting to whine-due for an upgrade.
good luck fitting anything larger in that engine bay, although I'd love to see you fit a SOHC 427 in there...
Definitely a beefed up 8" if canyon carving is the goal.
Too much unsprung weight with the 9".
As far as powerplant...
(http://image.automotive.com/f/techarticles/engine/28344879+pheader/hrdp_0908_01_z+ford_427_cammer_engine_build+.jpg) this is simply the baddest FE on the planet but is $$$$$$$$
(http://image.hotrod.com/f/9606265/113_0603_13_z+ford_boss_429+dyno_test.jpg) John Kaase is making the heads for this now but still $$$$$$$
(http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/8440/m6007tvs.jpg) Just go down to the Ford dealership and grab one of these off the counter ($$$$$$ as well but lighter and a little less wide)

+1
An 8" is more than ample, especially if good innards are used. There are some really good aftermarket 8" parts out there.
Besides, you're never gonna get enough traction with a Falcon to break a well-built 8"....unless you tub it and drop in something wicked. [evil]
The canyon carver was a bit of snark-any of the other vehicles here would run circles around it. If it ever sees a serious mod, it'd be a big block. Why the hell replace the rear end twice if I ever get to that?
I just wanna know if it will end up with an ambient temp display? ;D
