9" is a waste of time with a small block ford, the 8" is more than strong enough and is the same design with the rear bearing support on the pinion gear, with the added benefit of being much lighter. Get an 8" posi with 3.50s or 3.80s...

Who says I'm going to keep the small block?

Besides, the current one is starting to whine-due for an upgrade.
If the state had not cut funding for the mental institutions, this project could never have happened.

good luck fitting anything larger in that engine bay, although I'd love to see you fit a SOHC 427 in there...
build a man a fire and he's warm for a day, set a man on fire and he's warm for the rest of his life...

Oldfisti

Definitely a beefed up 8" if canyon carving is the goal.

Too much unsprung weight with the 9".

As far as powerplant...

this is simply the baddest FE on the planet but is $$$$$$$$

John Kaase is making the heads for this now but still $$$$$$$

Just go down to the Ford dealership and grab one of these off the counter ($$$$$$ as well but lighter and a little less wide)

+1

An 8" is more than ample, especially if good innards are used. There are some really good aftermarket 8" parts out there.

Besides, you're never gonna get enough traction with a Falcon to break a well-built 8"....unless you tub it and drop in something wicked.  [evil]

The canyon carver was a bit of snark-any of the other vehicles here would run circles around it. If it ever sees a serious mod, it'd be a big block. Why the hell replace the rear end twice if I ever get to that?

I just wanna know if it will end up with an ambient temp display?  ;D
