Something about unnecessary weight, and where it's located, coupled with the fact that it's to cold to ride, and I have a few $$$ sitting in my paypal account.
Ti caliper bolts (finally arrived), drilling them for safety wire :

Driven Sprocket and lightweight hub. Scored it on ebay for $150 shipped!!! WOnder why a bolt is out and there is an allen handle nearby? Duh, because the bolts are heavy stainless, and I've got some Ti bolts an aluminum washers coming :)

Lastly are 2 large chunks of metal. Magnesium ingots to be exact. Surplus leftover from Boeing, they will be sent off to be machined into a top and bottom triple clamp for the S4Rt.

Of course, if I can't find a buyer for my forks, they and the calipers (bembo monoblocks) will end up on the monster as well.

I wanted to show a video of the new exhaust that I'm finishing up, but I havn't made it to the camera store yet. I'll post something soon, but WOW it sounds good (loud) and looks pretty killer to. [drink]
What flavor of magnesium do you have there?
A buyer for those ugly forks and crappy monoblocks, yeah right.
Just send them to me and I might even pay for shipping. [thumbsup]
I share a similar fanatacism. Do you know how much that sprocket carrier saves over stock? I have a forged quick-change sprocket carrier, but I forgot to weigh it. Now its on the bike and I can't seem to get around to taking it off just to weigh it. Could you throw your stocker on a scale?

I will when I do the install sometime next week.
Still waiting on:
some more Ti (rotor bolts, caliper half bolts, caliper mounting bolts, 3 small bolts for the brake line fastener clips....basically everything back there).
lightweight wave rotor
billet axle/sprocket nuts
One day I'll come across a BST wheel to finish it off.
I'm not a metalurgist, but the Mg came with a card. It's around here somewhere, but Mr. Ortner said it will work great for the triples.

While you're back there, you should get a ti shock. It saves 1 lbs+ over stock.
The Ti Spring is 1.95lbs lighter than the steel one, and yup, it'll on the upgrade list with the shock.
oh my god. you really do have a weight problem!
I think the magnesium blocks kinda settled it!
you sir, are insane. Whats your goal weight after all this?
Nice!
May as well got one of these too...save another +/- 6 lbs.

...or even better, one of these instead and save +/-8 lbs (although it is a little riskier)

Li-Iron battery. Under 2lbs :) By far the cheapest weight savings I've done too..
Will be for sale shortly, I need a website heh.

Very nice!!! How does it perform in cold weather, or when the bike doesn't feel like starting and needs to turn over a few times? Can it sit on a trickle charger, or does it need to, like a normal battery? Any idea on approx. cost?
I could use that. I bought an Odyssey battery for my Multi rebuild because it is smaller and will fit in the airbox. That would be even easier.
Damn dude, thats sick....

Be careful with those odysseys I have had 3 brand new ones with only 60% life expectancy.

You never got back to me about the battery/if you wanted one. LMK, I'm getting set up as a distributor as I type.

Is that big one the stock battery?
Yes. Thats the stocker, sitting next to the replacement. They make a smalled speedcell that is sub 1lbs, but it's not recommended for a street bike running lights.
It's crazy, but that kind of technology will be in the hybrid cars coming out in the next few years (if they are released/built) in the US.

These batteries deserver their own thread!
As soon as I get my dealer portion setup, I'll start one :) [thumbsup] [wine]

If you can give me a product that:
1. Reliably starts my daily-driver 900FI without additional care and feeding (tender charging whenever parked, etc) in regular temps (45 - 100 F)
2. Is waterproof
3. Weighs 3-4 pounds or less
I'm buying one.
TA,
Will you PM me the info, I'll probably buy 2-3 of the midsized ones.

Li-ion batteries are less affected by temperature, and do not lose a charge while in storage like other batteries. But, you need a different charger for them, and they have a tendancy to explode if not handled properly.
These batteries are very interesting. From what I have read from all of their details, the Batteries are not Lithium-Ion, but rather Lithium-Ferrous. These are not volatile at all, and are plug in play with normal chargers, and if you get the superbike pack then it should be plug in play with your ducati. The price of the superbike pack looks to be around $250

From the Speedzilla thread, it looks like these batteries aren't li-ion.
Sorry, didn't read the speedzilla thread. Taftonomus stated that they were Li-ion when they are A123 cells.

I just read it again (I wasn't sure). They are lithium-ferrous.

You are the winner :D [clap] [drink] and [bacon]...I love the food emocons...
In any case, EVERY battery needs care and feeding IMHO, and I'm not sure I'd use something like this without, nor would I recommend using it without a tender on it at night.
PM sent.

Front rotor bolts (not pictured), rear rotor bolts, rear caliper mounting bolts/washers, caliper bolts (ones that join the halfs together), Sprocket bolts for the quick change.
All adds up to 1.2lbs of rotating mass shaved/gone. Just to match I grabbed the 3 bolts that hold the brake line onto the swingarm.
The dang wave rotor for the rear (that is 12 ounces lighter than stock - 3/4 lb) is on backorder for 2-3 weeks. Once that gets here, I'll install it all. The actual weight drop overall isn't a huge deal (2 lbs?) but the fact that 2 lbs of rotating weight has been shed might actually be noticable. I'm still saving and hopeing to find a set of used BST's out there. $50 a week into savings, but it'll still take a more than a year to buy a new pair :-[
AND, the headlight fairing Ti bolts I ordered came in, so now I can offer the lowered headlight fairing mod/gauges under triple as a complete "kit" with the proper bolts for the gauges.

There are a pair for sale in the classified listings.....
Thanks, but those are the older 916 SBK ones, and won't fit the front without a bit of fiddling around. If they were a bit cheaper (1500-1800ish) it might be worth it, but rotors to go along with those wheel will be 5-600 alone, making it easier just to buy the correct application for my bike.
The S4Rt/s uses a 999 style front wheel, and the SSSA (obviously) rear wheel. 999 and up are 5 bolt for the rotors, older stlye are 6. Not sure if the offset is different.
I wanna see the finished mag triples.
That or send the Ingots to me so I can build some.
I'll send you both of the ingots, if you agree to build me a set of triples as well.
I couldn't find anyone willing to machine magnesium to make them. The one guy I did find got pissed at me when I asked him more than "how much, and how long".
let me talk to some people
