This bike took *forever* to get.
I almost bought a new one ($11.5 +tx) and shopped a second dealer closer to home. They didn't have one, but told me to go to a nearby Honda/CanAm dealer because they just took one in on trade. The owner had it 2 months, bought new.
I scored it for $8300 +tx! Me = ecstatic. It had 496 miles on it when I took delivery 2 weeks ago.
However, it took 3 and half months for them to get the title sorted with GE Money (who lost it)
All I could do was wait. I sold my 675 in the meantime and had nothing to ride :( And now that I finally have this thing, the snow is here to stay :(
8 months ago I demo'd a SM-R and a Hypermotard (great bike btw) The KTM got the nod, it was just better for me even though it lacks a dry clutch. It pulls like a freight train in any gear and stops like I dropped an anchor.
Radial brakes with radial master, fully adjustable forks, ultra adjustable shock with high and low speed adjustment! Hard to believe it's all stock.
The only thing I find odd is that KTM went with carbs. It's a 2007, but still. But on the other side of that. . . I have heard some *great* stories of FCR Flatslide conversions on these [evil]

Excellent.
If it weren't snowing, I'd say ride the crap out of it.
Very nice. But your reflectors are showing. ;)
Very nice. [evil] Get us a ride report when you can.
You know I will!

[thumbsup]
It's made to be dropped. Get some knobbies on it and get out there!
Nice looking bike btw.
Thanks man!
No knobbies for me. . .
that'd be the Super Enduro. Knobbies, wire spoke wheels about the only difference to the SM-R
None for me though. Not to say this won't end up in the woods. .
I just don't know how far into the woods Ill get ;D
Congrats ML, looking good! [thumbsup] [moto]

Halfway. After that, you're leaving the woods. :P
But is the bike with me?
Nice. [beer]
Congrats, great bike. One of the best handling by any standard. Take those mufflers off and you'll want to pitch em out in the snow. They must weigh 20 lbs. each. The Ti Akrapovic cans are featherweight and sound great with the db killers out.
Here a how to guide on to SAS & Canister Removal with great pics.

Spring will get here ......... eventually.

Sweet ride you got there!! i keep telling myself that something like that will be the next bike I get. Can't wait to read a your upcoming report on it.
Cool bike. I love KTM's! Looks like a lot of fun ;D
Congrats on the bike! I have the 690SM and i love it.great second bike.Of course my no 1 is the monster:-)
Wooohoooo!!!
Glad to see it finally arrived. [thumbsup]
The state of the bike in the background of the first pict. may make dp cry though. :'(
I freaked out for a second when I saw that shot of the rear shock and couldn't make out whether it was in the back or the front. I didn't think KTM would be the type of company to out a coil over up front, but........
Looks like fun. I'm hoping to get a do-all wonder bike in the next couple of years.
Congrats on the SM-R. My boss picked one of these up last summer in a similar situation. Sounds like alot of guys buy this bike then realize they're in over their heads...
You're going to love it! I had the pleasure of riding it up our local backroads hillclimb on a couple of occassions. Man, that thing's got some torque! Funny... it's a little big for me (5'9" ~170lbs), so riding it had me thinking about trading the monster for a Hypermotard. I couldn't ever do that though... so I guess I'll have to have both!? [moto]
Here are some pics to help visualize what Spring'll be like...

dp's a big boy, he can take it.
That's picture's old, too. It shows a motor still in the frame, when in reality it is laying on it's side behind the bike, while the new motor is on the bench getting "lightened" [evil]

Awesome pics! Makes me hate snow even more [laugh]
Beautiful bike, man. You gotta love what KTM has done with their streetbikes. [bow_down]
I certainly do!
I loved the HM, but the KTM was just more "me." Both handled well, accelerated well and stopped very well. Part of what swayed me also was the higher price tag on the HM and the shorter fuel range...
Ok. . .
I finally got to ride this thing! It was 60+ and not raining/snowing here yesterday and I got out for a short 20 mile jaunt.
I can't believe how well this bike handles.
I also can't believe how hard it pulls when you gas it. I didn't get to WOT but wherever I was in the throttle range had the bike pulling my arms out of their sockets.
It's a F'ing rocket powered freight train.
I think I'll be getting into trouble with this [evil]
<fingers raised in teepee fashion> exxxxcellent smithers...
should be an interesting ride to DIMBY next summer...
Plenty of room on the back for my #10 can of Bush's Baked Beans :D

Nate can strap paint cans to the KTM and save wear and tear on his paint shaker.
Seriously-I can't slab it on a thumber without hurting my junk-how are you going to ride that thing that far?
Uhh... Thumper?
You know the 950's are twins right?
If I can do 600 miles straight to DIMBY on a 675, it should be cake on the supermoto...

I thought your bike was a B-B-Q.
Some of this could go in the "Dumbest question you ever heard about your Bike". ;)

No, that was the old one.
