Title: Re: Year End Reward Post by: mostrobelle on January 02, 2009, 10:30:06 AM What IS real is that Oakland Red Cross is having some sort of Plasma for a Plasma contest going on right now. If you donate blood during the month of January, you have the right to enter for a chance to win a 42" Plasma TV. Ya gotta weigh at least 110 lbs. and probably should be AIDS-free. I might actually go and do this.

Just the fact that their draining my life blood bothers me. :o Don't get me wrong, If it is directly asked of me to save someone in particular, I'll do it. Still won't like it, but I'll do it. You got plenty to spare...and they give you a cookie when you're done--a COOKIE! I'll do a lot of stuff for a cookie. Srsly. I really like cookies. The key is not to watch. I can't watch them do it. I can poke and cut on myself all day long, but I don't like it when someone else does it. Desmo, I think Celine Dion is behind it. I think she's behind most things that are bad in this world. Celine.... grrrrr.... Title: Re: Year End Reward Post by: desmoquattro on January 02, 2009, 11:37:35 AM Desmo, I think Celine Dion is behind it. Don't you have tats though?...that's the reason why I can't donate. See, so now you can say that you'd love to give, but you're just not a candidate! Tada, you are now guilt free. [thumbsup] Title: Re: Year End Reward Post by: DarkStaR on January 02, 2009, 01:11:46 PM Don't you have tats though?...that's the reason why I can't donate. [thumbsup] The tattooed just has to wait 12 months to give blood, and I think my last one was almost 2 years ago. I guess it's time to get another! Are you sure? http://www.redcross.org/services/biomed/0,1082,0_557_,00.html#tat (http://www.redcross.org/services/biomed/0,1082,0_557_,00.html#tat) I stand corrected...new answer is, it depends. Title: Re: Year End Reward Post by: mostrobelle on January 02, 2009, 01:33:54 PM gots links? It was in a local paper, made of actual paper. ;D I tried the Red Cross website, but it doesn't mention anything about it. The location specifically mentioned was on Claremont Ave. Title: Re: Year End Reward Post by: DarkStaR on January 02, 2009, 01:43:16 PM Weight
You must weigh at least 110 Lbs to be eligible for blood donation for your own safety. Blood volume is in proportion to body weight. Donors who weight less than 110Lbs may not tolerate the removal of the required volume of blood as well as those who weigh more than 110Lbs. There is no upper weight limit as long as your weight is not higher than the weight limit of the donor bed/lounge you are using. You can discuss any upper weight limitations of beds and lounges with your local health historian. Title: Re: Year End Reward Post by: mostrobelle on January 02, 2009, 02:45:59 PM Well, that eliminates 'Belle ;D Not true...I've beefed up over the holidays. ;D And I know for a fact that the weight limit used to be 105. That was back in college when all I ate was Jello and Cheese Puffs and I was stressed out. All of the girls in my dorm went to donate blood. I had to bribe the woman to let me do it because I didn't weigh enough. I felt a little light headed after I got done but I think that's because I got into a race with one of my friends to see who could could fill their bag faster. I can't remember who won, but I got a cookie for my efforts, so it all worked out. [cheeky] |
