Anybody have it on their bike? I was thinking of getting it for my s2r. I do a few trips and the stock seat kills me after a few hrs and just keeps on getting worst.

Gus has one..... when I rode his bike..... it felt like I was sitting on a breast implant.
Do you mean the gel seat? I love it because I'm short and it's about an inch shorter than stock. It does get really really hot when left out in the sun during summer. I always had to rub it down with a wet towel before riding.

Jeez Joel...... is that what you sit on in Bakersfield @ IBN ???
[laugh]
To the OP.... yeah it's softer & gives you more of a saddle to sit in than the OEM seat. It is also lower & wider & if you raise your rear ride height like I did, it will keep yor man bits off the tank & help keep you from sliding forward as it's more level & has more of a lip on the front side.
I've swithched back & forth several times & I prefer the DP gel seat [thumbsup] I keep the OEM seat for when I ride two up. No need to remove the seat cowl... just swap seats & off I go with the wife [thumbsup]
One word says it all:
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

hey...yer the one who named his bike Pamela [laugh]
Have it, Love it.
Picked it up here, http://www.monsterparts.com/
Great serves as always.
I use a foam Back Protector from one of the Textile Jackets I have.
It's kind of keyhole shaped and I pull the narrow end up against the tank of my 1098R and that 1/4 or 3/8 ths inch foam makes all the difference and it's FREE !
When I get off the bike I take it w, me so when I go to get back on even at a gas up I just take it off and then put it on and no hot seat from the Sun.
No slipping or sliding and I can move around on the bike in the twiisties.
I also like the idea that it doesn't raise me up enough to make a noticeable difference and it saves my privates from that pointed rear on the " R's " gas tank.
I'd say it gives me an extra 2 hours of comfortable riding . Dolph :)
I've had one for a couple of years, looks good, feels good! [thumbsup]
The only thing you might have to think of is to put a couple of washers under the latch mechanism on the subframe as the catch on the actual DP seat doesn't engage very securely otherwise.

so you use it like a maxi-pad...but not!
Been on a couple 500 milers with mine...
A) Takes longer to get uncomfortable being on the bike... I'd say I can get 300-350 miles before I can tell that I need to stop longer than just a gas break. But...
B) No monkey butt once I AM done for the day. When I get off the bike, I feel fine.
I will +1 for the hot gel insert in the sun, but If it's that hot, I tend to take my leather off and just set it over the seat. My other trick is flipping the tank bag so it sits on the seat when I'm stopped.
Definitely worth the money, especially since my boss paid for mine. ;D

Might make it easier to stay on the bike.

Gus and I traded bikes during a ride a few months ago. After just having hopped off the 1098, (its seat is nothing more than a 1/2 thick piece of foam and hard plastic), Gus's seat felt thick and squishy, which added to making the bike feel loose.
On a long trip.... yup, I'd want one..... for everyday use...nope.
I bought one and rode on it for a bout a week and sold it. There is a weird lump in the middle and the seat is alot more flat than the standard seat which made it a little harder to get both my feet planted on the ground, not very comfortable in stop and go traffic. Very well made the materials are much better than the stock seat.
Here are a few pics of mine before I sold it.

I have the gel seat as well and I highly recommend it. [thumbsup]
I love my DP Gel seat.... i had it with risers, and riding up the PCH 1 from Newport to Ave of Giants.... can't imagine not having one...
credit to the previous owner...Mr Prego...

It's as wide in the part that my ass sits on as my ass. Don't know anything about using a maxi-pad . Dolph
I have one on the S4Rs. Very comfortable. I've noticed on long rides the seat has a tendency to work loose from the latch mechanism on occasion but given the frequency of gas stops, it's no big deal. I'd get it. :)
Cheers!

The ejector seat happens with the stock seat too. If you look at the latch it just needs a wee bit more pressure on it to stay secure. I think I fixed it with some girls hair tie.

I'm sold, I'm going to get one.
What's this "ejector seat"? Never happened to me.
Would the (yellow) seat cowl of the stock seat on my 2001 Monster 750 fit on the gel seat? Monster Parts offers a gel seat for my bike, but it looks a little different from the 695 gel seat.
1. The seat is comfortable and a good investment.
2. The seat is killer if left in direct heat. You WILL seriously burn your ass and end up riding home on the cowl.
3. The seat requires an extra washer or two to be added to the locking mechanism (on the frame not the seat). Looking at it it's obvious where they need to be added.
4. Bought mine from Ducati Seattle for a good price.
There's a couple of good threads with pics on TOB and I think at least one here. Search is your friend.
I got it I love it and it served my well on the 3000 km down to italiy and back.
9 hours was the longest time I spent in the saddle and I am a heavy guy too...
I totally recommended it for long distance travel but I also think it feels awkward for a while if you are used to the slim one.
The gel pads are placed in the exact right position to support the parts with the most contact and protect them
Takes an hours or so to not feel them anymore...
But after riding for two or three hours you will loooove it [moto]
