When are they being released?
Don't need the "S"..just want a plain black.
What's the price?
Since the 620 has 65,000 miles.. (the s/o agrees) it's FINALLY time for a new bike.

Yeah, my tank says 1100S, so a 696 owner may like it?! [thumbsup] It's a sticker, so it comes off. I've only seen one interchangeable skin Ducati makes. It's white and has the classic Ducati red font. I would be interested in something that's affordable or a swap.

It only indicates the model size on the panel around the gas cap... that would stay behind. The tank skins, fairing and seat cowl are the same.. ;D A 1100S Dark would be easy to create ! Do I need to call Ducati Austin for ya ??

Just a heads up if paint finish matters to you, the 696 dark have matte black skins where as the 1100 dark have gloss black skins.

true the 696 dark is like the old 'dark' less expensive models.

The 1100 base in black is gloss, correct. It is not called a dark, just black. A dark is referred to as matte black.

I've had a 620 Dark for the past 6 years now..with a stock seat and nothing that really adjusts. The Ohlins on the "S" sounds tempting.
However, that extra $2K might got better towards a set of CF Termis and a few other mods?

No, I thought for that price and being an 1100..there would be
at least 110-120 Hp?!
Hmmm..I guess it ain't no S4RS.
Well, for $3000 more, you can get the new Streetfighter. 1098cc engine, claimed 368 lbs dry, and 155 hp! This is the bike that is closer to a S4R. Not sure when it is supposed to be released, though. IMHO, it just looks kinda bulky.

that's like 749 territory... new 1100's are cool but still air-cooled bikes.
You talk to Warren yet?
as a 969 owner I'd say you're in for a lot more ducati for the buck with an 848 instead of the 1100sâ€"or an 1198 rather than the SF.
if you're gonna get wet, you might as well go swimming, right? :-\
Although the 1100 have 35hp less than the S4RS the 1100 have the same amount of torque and weigh in 20lbs less than the S4RS. So the 1100 is not as far off from the S4RS as it might seem
Rather it is more comparable to the air cooled 2 valve S2R1000
short history lesson on Monsters.
Gen 1: aircooled DSS sbk based frame
Gen 1a:aircooled DSS ST based frame (correct me if i'm wrong on the frame)
Gen 2: watercooled SSS ST based frame
Gen 2a: aircooled SSS ST based frame
Gen 3: aircooled DSS/SSS new frame design.
Gen 2a is replaced by the gen 3
Gen 2 is replaced by the Streetfighter
so if you want mondo watercooled HP get the Streetfighter
if you want a more original concept of the Monster get the new Monster.
One of the first watercooled Monsters was a one off by Lyle Lovett.
Now the Monster is more in line with it's original concept, lightweight aircooled naked bike.
the Streetfighter is the heir of the watercooled naked SBK-style Monsters

Worry not. I've got my M750 (62HP) and my 900SS (80HP) and they feel WORLDS apart on power delivery. You'll notice WAY more difference going from the 620 to the 1100. The biggest difference I see between my two is the way the 900SS feels like it just wants to blast off from a stop. The 750 is no slouch, but the 900 feels crazy powerful compared to the 750.

Maybe, but I doubt the one on the 1100S
costs is worth that much. I've read that OEM öhlins aren't the same 'quaility' (internal components) and the one on the 1100s doesn't have compression damping.

I'm not sure where that info came from, but it's wrong on a stock 696. I believe that the DP ecu bumps the redline to 10,5. My 696 pegs out around the 9250-9500 range like that graph. It's less than 1k over the peak hp numbers so not a lot of overrev on the bike.
I put the DP chip in mine and its red was 10500.

Don't know if you have ridden a 1100 yet... but it rides much nicer than the 696. I like the little higher position, the controls are a lot less sloppy (throttle, clutch, etc). 1100 just feels a lot more refined than 696, I was surprised by the differences.
