I have a red 1100S, but I always loved the dark/red combo. I wonder if anyone with a dark 696 or the soon to be released dark 1100 would want to swap tank cowls? Just a thought...
Just a heads up if paint finish matters to you, the 696 dark have matte black skins where as the 1100 dark have gloss black skins.

true the 696 dark is like the old 'dark' less expensive models.
the 1100 is a gloss black with clear coat like the s*r models.

honestly i would LOVE to have the black 1100.

Doh #2! Yeah, the gloss black would look better. But the matte black looks cool, too. I'll see if my dealer is willing to work with me since I bought 2 bikes from them already.

The 1100 base in black is gloss, correct.  It is not called a dark, just black.  A dark is referred to as matte black.

If you get a black 1100 and change out the tank skins to the matte black, I'll buy the gloss black ones from ya! Good luck on getting your bike. [thumbsup]

I saw an 1100S at our local shop last week.  Veeeeeery nice bike.  Single-sided swingarm is pregnant dogin' and fit and finish is top-notch.   [thumbsup]

Get the S...the ohlins suspension is worth it.  Might as well spend the 2K now instead of wanting to upgrade later.  I'm loving mine.

I've had a 620 Dark for the past 6 years now..with a stock seat and nothing that really adjusts.  The Ohlins on the "S" sounds tempting.

However, that extra $2K might got better towards a set of CF Termis and a few other mods?

Take one for a test ride, then decide.

Sounds like you've already made up your mind! Since you're gonna save $2000, save a little more and get the full termis!
