Nope, nada, zip, zero, zilch...

try just a last name search with your city. for some reason it was not working when i put in first name. i put the last name and scrolled through the list.
I did, plenty of people with my name, none of them me at addresses I've ever lived at...
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
what BS!
i know california owes me something!
why cant i find it?
maybe i should try the 11ty billion "other" names that i have from all the bureaucratic morons who think they know how my name should be spelled, even though i give it to them like they are 2 year olds.
BP,
Are you driving around calling those 800 numbers attached to telephone poles?
"Find lost money........make 2,000-10,000 a month!!!!"

nope.... I saw a story on the news yesterday about how Cali has all this unclaimed money so I followed the links to the state controllers website and poked around.
Nothing for me but my brother has $204 on there I think.

Can I take somebody else's that has the same name as me? 8)
Iowa has the Great Iowa Treasure Hunt.
Basically, it is a catch all for unclaimed things such as frozen property, overpaid taxes, inheritances that were seized if the estate had outstanding tax debt and what was left over after it was paid off etc.
They publish the names twice a year in the paper.
Arizona did that once, but it was a ruse to get dead beat dads and fugitives to walk cluelessly and willingly into authorities offices ;)

brilliant [thumbsup]
It worked really really well too. They published this huge list of names in the Arizona Republic saying these people could be owed money by the state or abandoned safe deposit boxes or named in wills but couldn't be located, etc. All they had to do was call a number and give their current contact info to find out ;D Lo and behold, some of those who responded got visitors on their doorsteps they weren't expecting ;) I forget how many they got, but it was a hugely significant number.
Nobody got suspicious that they were all men that got money?
Almost every state has a link at the state web site that allows one to search for money owed to them. I found $ for sister that way.

It wasn't only men, there were thousands of names on there. Some could have been really owed money, some could have been fictitious, some could have been female fugitives or dead beat moms ....

How much is a sister these days? I've got 3 brothers and always wanted a sister. Maybe I can find one with hot friends...

I'll sell ya mine ;)
ahhh the lovely world of escheatment.
I got a call at work one day from a lady whose account had been escheated to the state like a month before she called. It's easy enough to reclaim, but man what a hassle. Her account was a sizable amount even, $15k. I wish I had the problem where I misplaced a $15,000 account for a couple years.
