After all, if I'm going to be taking something everywhere and letting it get dinged up in parking lots, I wouldn't want it to be anything nice.

Actually that is a bit ridiculous to put an R8 in the mix.

When comparing similarly priced competitors that could be considered when shopping for a sports oriented , performance based car that looks like a car that one would find on any road in most any modern country, BMW 's Ad team has come up w, a very clever Ad campaign.

Audi putting the R8 in is just silly just as if BMW put out a photo of their F/1 car to top the R8 .          Dolph

compaired to S5, the M3 is make the beast with two backsing joke.

what do I get for the extra 8k the M3 costs? a buzzy engine, with less torque, no AWD and whats with the ricer hood. At least they got rid of the rear end that looked like it was trying to drop a deuce.

the E30 M3 was the last time they made a cool looking M3, they've been yuppie ricer bait since then.

While I love the S5 and would take it over the M3, here's the figures:

                Audi                                BMW
Engine      4.2 V8                              4.0 V8
HP            354                                  414
Tq            325                                  295
Weight      3858                                3704
0-60         Under 5 sec                       4.1 sec

So yeah, I like it better, but the M3 has better overall numbers...

Huh? Are you you talking about the Audi? Have you ever driven in fog? Fog lights installed from the manufacturer are aimed properly to hit the ground about 30 feet in front of the car. Why should they be banned?

Fog lights that aren't there for bling purposes or those installed by wanna-be ricers to blind oncoming traffic are useful.  I just installed a set on my truck.  They're aimed slightly outward and drop to illuminate the road instead of reflect into my face like headlights do.

I use my fog lights a lot, they are great not only for fog, but also for driving on unlit twisty roads at night and you can't use your high-beams because of oncoming cars. [thumbsup]

Beck, we all come from our own eras.

I thought my '57 MGA was the neatest car when I had it but that was 50 some cars ago.

I surely wouldn't want to compare it to the '02 BMW Z-8 I had but as far as fun factor, I had more fun in the '57 MGA than I did in the Z-8.

427's have very thin cylinder walls.  You can't bore it past 0.030".  Anything Ford and Big-Block within easy reach of 560cid would have to be based on the 385 series engines (429/460).  Which would likely be the case considering the extensive suspension mods needed to handle those tires...

My '66 Fairlane doesn't yet exist.  I don't own it......yet.

The '62 Falcon was a 144cid I-6 with a 3-speed column shifted manual....originally that is.

Ah, we called um 3 on the tree.  ;D
It was 44 years ago . I just remember it was ( 4 on the floor ) and ( 3 in the Tree ) but, we didn't grow up in the same area or the same times I don't think so either is OK D.

At least WE know what each other is talking about . I remember the Mopar's with the push buttons, 1,2,D,N,R,P. they were automatics.

I think my 1st 5 speed was a '69 Porsche 911S.

1st 6 speed was a Beemer or Porsche but I don't remember the year off hand. Probably sometime in the early or mid '80s.       Dolph      :)

mmmm....170hp VW rabbit/golf

It may not have 500hp, but I drive the hell out of it....and it's a torquey little beast

I love my car!

I can't afford a new BMW of Audi anyways

BTW....I'd be in line with you BP if they'd release the scirocco here. Guess I'll be buying a GTI or another Golf next.

I'll keep my '97 Taurus w/ 177,000 miles.  It was cheap ($700)as well as cheap on insurance, it's paid for, and it leaves me with more money to spend on bikes!

JM

A "two in the pink and one in the stink" is the only shift pattern that matters.

Beck, these are just a few from over the years that I could find . There's a '69 911S Porsche, a '99 911 SC, a '05 CarreraS, a '01 Porsche BoxsterS, a'02 BMW Z-8, a '89 BMW M-6,  and a '01 M-3. All toll, 13 Porsches and 12 BMWs, mostly since the mid '80s. Had the '69 in '72.

Touche Daryl .

Here all these years I've been living under a false impression.

I like the new one I just learned . " 2 in the Pink and 1 in the Stink ."             Dolph      :)

* actually, this is just a photoshopped image encouraged by Audi on their facebook page as to what the response should be.

I saw that Audi today. White and black... Simply stunning in person. I couldnt take to long of a look at it since I was lane splitting by it on the freeway.
Even my S4R got jealous  :-\
