how come on average a motorcycle tire is usually more expensive than a car tire? and where do you get good deals on tires?
it's a fun tax.
jk, it likely a technology thing.
cycle gear usually has good prices.
Oligopolistic collusion. I bet it's a cartel. I also bet they're a lot cheaper in Indochina :P
I don't think so. I'd say it's about even.
What kind of car you drive is a key factor also.
I'd say it's mostly the volume of production, lots more car tires made.
The same reason that women's underwear is more expensive than men's underwear even though there is less fabric to it.
Because we need them, and only get about 3000 miles out of them. They got us by the poo-poo.

Tires for a Monster (i.e. Pilot Power) are probably on par with tires used on a sports sedan/coupe (i.e. BMW 335i). It's definitely much more expensive per tire than that for a Carolla.

so the fun factor
is a pricing point
I say technology and compare to a very high performance car tire. Think about the difference between the BFGoodright Momentums on my Taurus and the ties you'd find on a top-line Corvertte. The price for the entire set for the Taurus is likely less than a single tire for the Corvette ~

nothing to do with technology....
which is more expensive, a g-string, or supportive granny panties?
and which one had more material and technology behind it?
[evil]

I like that we're in agreement here. ;D It's just a premium. You pay more for the nicer things in life.
some things are worth it.....

cyclegear set of diabolo ss, good deal for $190?
Personal opinon:
Extra liability begets extra cost. Motorcycle tires are built to a slightly higher tolerance and are required to perform at a higher level. I hate to say it but I accidentally ran a on a flat rear tire for a couple of days. It rode weird but it held together.

+1. Low volume, high tech, dual compound sneakers tend to be pretty pricey.

I think buying tires at cyclegear is good if only for their nail policy. But I myself always get my tires of a little independent shop by my parent's place and every time they tell me that I should get my rotors checked. ;D

Good deal IMO, if you don't mount tires yourself, make sure the charge for a shop to do tires you didn't buy there doesn't exceed the savings of buying online ~
I have a 160 rear on my M750 (OEM) and a 170 rear on my SS (also OEM). Too bad neither are available with this package ~

Decent motorcycle tyres are 25% more expensive in Thailand and Singapore than USA or EU.
They are made in smaller quantities than car tyres and to much higher technical specifications. thats why they cost more.
