Title: Ducati in GI JOE Post by: Michael on August 08, 2009, 07:05:26 PM If you just saw the new movie G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra and thought you saw Scarlett riding a Ducati Streetfighter.
You're wrong. She was, in fact, riding a MV Agusta Brutale. Title: Re: Ducati in GI JOE Post by: Michael on August 09, 2009, 07:33:05 AM Has anyone admitted they've actually seen this POS movie? It's a fun movie, especially for someone who watched GI Joe in the mid 1980's after elementary school. But you can't go in expecting a "good" movie, just a "fun to watch" movie. And Ray Park fans will enjoy his fight scenes. Just like when he was Darth Maul in Star Wars: Episode 1, him as Snake Eyes in GI Joe is the best thing about the movie. That and the motorcycle chase scene was fun to watch, although I would have been more impressed if it was actually someone driving the entire time and not partial CGI. Like the Ducati scene in Matrix Reloaded -- the motorcycle driving was all real, and very impressive. I'm still on the fence. Title: Re: Ducati in GI JOE Post by: sbrguy on August 09, 2009, 01:37:23 PM ok the important thing, is that yes if you want a sexy bike in a movie use an MV agusta. simple as that. the brutale is a different and "cool" bike.
the movie has a hot redhead in it, and a hot brunette in it and both dress in skin tight body formed clothing.. what else do you need? if you go to this movie expecting "a plot" or "realism" or "good acting", its like going to a steak house and expecting a full vegetarian menu.. basically you are at the completely wrong place. other than that its an "entertaining" movie as in it has action scenes, cliche lines, lots of cgi, lots of impossible things happen, loud explosions and they try to tie in the gi joe characters and such.. but its by no means "a good movie". but entertaining. What he said. Personally, I would have gone to see it for Sienna Miller alone. the movie has a hot redhead in it, and a hot brunette in it and both dress in skin tight body formed clothing.. what else do you need? if you go to this movie expecting "a plot" or "realism" or "good acting", its like going to a steak house and expecting a full vegetarian menu.. basically you are at the completely wrong place. other than that its an "entertaining" movie as in it has action scenes, cliche lines, lots of cgi, lots of impossible things happen, loud explosions and they try to tie in the gi joe characters and such.. but its by no means "a good movie". but entertaining. The worst thing about it, I thought, was the piss-poor casting. Except for Miller and Eccleston. Dennis Quaid doesn't have the hard-ass gene, Channing Tatum should stick to his ghetto dance flicks, and the retarded Wayans brother was just a bad, bad choice. Title: Re: Ducati in GI JOE Post by: NAKID on August 09, 2009, 06:20:13 PM I saw a free preview last week on base. So far, everything said here is right on the money. It was just a fun movie. Something to reminisce over from my childhood. The acting was as good as can be expected and it was pretty much non-stop action. There was a lot of cheese is some spots and it ended with an in-your-face foreshadowing to a sequel.

See, I liked Quaid, but I didn't like Eccleston as much. That would be the one I would change. Although, I should say he was a much better villain in GI Joe than in Gone in 60 Seconds. However, if I could change only one thing, I would take Heavy Duty and make that guy keep the same African accent he did when he was on LOST as Mr. Eko. He was awesome on that show. But instead we get him with a low-class British accent. I got that first glimpse of that bike ( yes I saw the movie.... I took my 6yr old to see it) and knew it wasnt a Duc.... Prolly cuz I love the MV's [thumbsup] Title: Re: Ducati in GI JOE Post by: Dannyboy on August 10, 2009, 02:52:43 AM Did anyone else have thought of Team America running through their head during the Paris scenes? I almost laughed out loud when it hit me.
I realize the bike scenes were mostly, if not all, cgi but damn, you would think that they could have made it a bit more realistic. It was a nice bike, though. I saw a couple at the shop this weekend. Nice. Title: Re: Ducati in GI JOE Post by: z0mb1e_DUC on August 10, 2009, 03:19:06 AM yea, too much CGI in the bike scene. Wasn't bad tho. Like was stated before, it was entertaining. Went with my 12yr old. He was a big GI Joe fan a few yrs ago, when they released a couple of direct to video cartoon movies. Don't expect plot, good acting or such. You gotta figure, they are looking at the success of Transformers, thinking they can milk at least 2 to 3 movies out of it.
Title: Re: Ducati in GI JOE Post by: sbrguy on August 11, 2009, 12:43:49 PM like i said, hot evil brunette and hot redhead in a movie both wearing skin tight body forming outfits. that right there is a good formula for the theater to make at least 50$million on just having that.
[laugh] [laugh] Title: Re: Ducati in GI JOE Post by: corey on August 11, 2009, 03:12:43 PM im baffled by people that try to analyze this movie.
i saw it, and i give it a 6 out of 10... as a film... as a GI JOE MOVIE, i give it an 8 out of 10! Have you ever seen an episode of the GI JOE cartoons??! It's a 15-20 minute bonanza if piss-poor character dialog with ZERO plot, ZERO character development, and NO POINT other than to sell toys... This movie is the exact same thing. It is a 2 hour long, PERFECT REITERATION of EXACTLY what GI Joe was. They nailed it in my opinion. Yes some of the acting sucked. But it was very comparable to the voice acting in the cartoon IMO. There were Guns. There were explosions. There were hot chicks in tight ass outfits, one of which got her face all bruised up, which, IMHO, is the sexiest look on a girl PERIOD... There were was comic relief (allthough no Bazooka :/)... It was a 2 hour episode of GI Joe. Go in with that expectation.. You're not going to get the "Batman Begins" or "Dark Knight" of GI Joe... Ever... Argh sorry guys.. Not directed at anyone, or even this forum... I got in a discussion over it at work today.... Go see it, and keep in mind what i've said... It's a fun movie to watch! I'd have killed to see it when i was 12. Title: Re: Ducati in GI JOE Post by: duccarlos on August 11, 2009, 03:36:49 PM Did cobra commander cover his face? Did he have a lisp? Did Destro wear a silver mask? Did the Baroness have a sexy, bad Russian accent?
Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed both Transformers movies even though the critics didn't exactly love them, but from the previews I just could not get fired up about them not even trying to show more of the original cartoons. Title: Re: Ducati in GI JOE Post by: NAKID on August 11, 2009, 03:39:59 PM Did cobra commander cover his face? Did he have a lisp? Did Destro wear a silver mask? Did the Baroness have a sexy, bad Russian accent? Yes, Yes, at the end, kinda Title: Re: Ducati in GI JOE Post by: corey on August 11, 2009, 03:57:20 PM Did cobra commander cover his face? Did he have a lisp? Did Destro wear a silver mask? Did the Baroness have a sexy, bad Russian accent? as Nakid said, yes.. the made an attempt at these smaller details. It's the RISE of Cobra... so keep in mind they are trying to show how things in the GI Joe world as we know it came about. Key word: Trying. ;D Title: Re: Ducati in GI JOE Post by: kopfjäger on August 11, 2009, 04:54:15 PM so keep in mind they are trying to show how things in the GI Joe world as we know it came about. Title: Re: Ducati in GI JOE Post by: factorPlayer on August 11, 2009, 09:38:40 PM Hopefully it was not abused and unceremoniously laid down like the Aprilia RSV in transformers...
that movie IMHO was a waste of an Aprilia and nothing more Title: Re: Ducati in GI JOE Post by: NAKID on August 12, 2009, 04:38:34 AM You have to forgive kopf, he's old. So the G.I. Joe's he grew up with we big Barbie dolls, not the smaller action figures the majority of "us" grew up with...

Title: Re: Ducati in GI JOE Post by: DesmoLu on August 20, 2009, 09:33:11 PM The release of this movie resulted in my realizing something truly sad:
Me to my 13 year old sister: "Do you want to go see GI Joe?" My sister: "Who is GI Joe anyway?" ??? ??? I left her to her Hannah Montana in tears :'( ps. I enjoyed the movie. Not only was their eye candy for all genders, plus the ever sexy Brutale (waaaant) but there were DUELING BLACK AND WHITE NINJAS. Seriously. The whole movie played out like the fantasy of an adolescent boy. Which was awesome. Because that's pretty much what we wanted when we played with GI Joes anyway, right? (Yes, I played with them. I thought Ken was gay so I hooked up my Barbies with them.) |
