Title: Homemade open clutch goodness!!! Post by: Monstermash on September 16, 2009, 03:38:09 PM Hey guys,
I have been having a hard time trying to decide what clutch cover and pressure plate I want to use on my new 996 so until I can make up my mind (which may be never) I made my own. I took a stock clutch cover and cut out the Ducati "D" with a jigsaw and then used a dremel and hand file to clean it up a bit. When I was all done I had it powdercoated gloss black. I also cleaned up an extra stock pressure plate I had around and painted it with red brake caliper paint and added some stainless springs and gold caps from one of my previous bikes. Here's some pics. Tel me what you guys think. Before....... (http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff176/MonstermashS2R/996/OpenClutch001.jpg) After....... I would pick up a billet pressure plate instead though, personally not a fan of painted plates. Cheers, Adam Title: Re: Homemade open clutch goodness!!! Cheers, Adam I'm not huge on painted plates either but I can't decide which aftermarket plate I want to go with. It actually looks better in person on the bike. Post by: redial on September 17, 2009, 05:57:01 AM ill agree, it looks good but grab a new pressure plate once you can pick one, or when the wallet/wife allows
overall great work! Title: Re: Homemade open clutch goodness!!! Post by: Bones on September 17, 2009, 06:50:43 AM once you get the billet pressure plate (assuming it's going to be red) you can also get this special VHT red anodize-look paint for the bolt heads. I used the paint on my steering stem cap and it looks great.

I did a similar thing myself with an $11 clutch cover from ebay. I left my pressure plate unpainted as I wanted the mod to look like it was 'stock.'
