I wonder what the salvage/restored title bit is about:
Quote This bike was purchased directly from the insurance company due to a claim that was paid out on it. Level lll. inspection was passed, and the RESTORED TITLE is in hand. The bike sustained very light cosmetical damage. Damages are all pictured and can be emailed on request. This bike is like new otherwise and it is very clean and mint! Title: Re: Check this out Post by: Monster Dave on September 18, 2009, 01:12:48 PM I know I read that too, but I was only commenting on how it looks - I've never seen one like that!
Title: Re: Check this out Post by: DG on September 19, 2009, 10:43:47 AM Yes, it is indeed nice looking.
However, I once heard Mr. Zappa proclaim, "Given enough money even I could polish a turd!" I loved FZ! Title: Re: Check this out Post by: IZ on September 19, 2009, 12:36:05 PM I know I read that too, but I was only commenting on how it looks - I've never seen one like that! I've seen one of those. Not sure if it was here in the valley or not? Actually, the Desmosedici had a paint scheme similar a couple years back. Let me dig up the pic. Mythbusters proved it. Title: Re: Check this out Post by: Duki09 on September 20, 2009, 06:16:11 AM Zappa said it... Mythbusters proved it. Let me guess, they polished up a petrified cow turd? Title: Re: Check this out Post by: NAKID on September 21, 2009, 06:58:32 AM Let me guess, they polished up a petrified cow turd? Not petrified, actual turd... Title: Re: Check this out Post by: Monster Dave on September 21, 2009, 08:11:08 AM With the exception of IZ, you guys can all check your negativity at the thread door.
Damn..... It's a nice looking bike (IMO - that's all that I'm saying). It wasn't my intent to open a debate about it being worth anything more than that. Title: Re: Check this out Post by: Dietrich on September 21, 2009, 08:47:04 AM Dave, I wouldn't worry about the thread wandering a little bit. It's not like most threads are a "yes" or "no" issue anyway, I see them as a way to start conversation. The banter can get old sometimes, but we all do it.
I like the look of that bike, and don't remember seeing that paint scheme on that series bike. What I think is interesting is how similar the 1098 tricolore looks to it: (http://www.delamoms.com/1098tricolore.jpg) Title: Re: Check this out Post by: Monster Dave on September 21, 2009, 08:55:24 AM Dave, I wouldn't worry about the thread wandering a little bit. Anyway, I've always been a fan of the tri-colore especially the Monster. I test rode one a while back for fun when the Duc truck was around. That bike was amazing! The 1098 looks great like that too! Title: Re: Check this out Post by: NAKID on September 21, 2009, 12:26:25 PM Wow Dave, are you a bit wound up today? The only one who said anything remotely negative was Doug.
Yes, it is indeed nice looking. However, I once heard Mr. Zappa proclaim, "Given enough money even I could polish a turd!" I loved FZ! And given that, I think he was referring to the 999 itself, not the paint job... And given that, I think he was referring to the 999 itself, not the paint job... ah, I'm done with it. I don't even care at this point anymore. I love the tri-colore look. And given that, I think he was referring to the 999 itself, not the paint job... Yeah, that was it. Randy just got rid of his. I remember him saying on a few occasions that the 999 couldn't touch the handling of his other bikes (996/998). The paint scheme does look good on it though! BTW..even though it was HOT as h*ll riding it in the AZ sun, I would've still taken Maureen's 749 Dark!! [evil] Title: Re: Check this out Post by: Randimus Maximus on September 21, 2009, 01:31:29 PM Yeah, that was it. Randy just got rid of his. BTW..even though it was HOT as h*ll riding it in the AZ sun, I would've still taken Maureen's 749 Dark!! [evil] Just to clarify. The 999 handled just as well as the 996. I just preferred riding the 996. [thumbsup] Title: Re: Check this out Post by: rule62 on September 21, 2009, 08:31:43 PM Just to clarify. The 999 handled just as well as the 996. [thumbsup] Were the brakes any better on the 999 than the 1st 996?! ;D Title: Re: Check this out Post by: DG on September 22, 2009, 06:44:59 AM Geez dudes...I guess I threw you off? The ref to FZ isn't even about the bike, it's about anything in general that has been damaged and then covered up by a nice paint job....get it? I never ref'd to the 999 and Frank at the time was talking about a guitar! Apologies from the both of us.
Title: Re: Check this out Post by: rule62 on September 22, 2009, 08:07:29 AM Mythbusters actually found that a lion turd was easiest to polish. IIRC.
