Stunning bike.  I wonder what the salvage/restored title bit is about:
Quote
This bike was purchased directly from the insurance company due to a claim that was paid

out on it. Level lll. inspection was passed, and the RESTORED TITLE is in hand.

The bike sustained very light cosmetical damage.

Damages are all pictured and can be emailed on request. This bike is like new otherwise

and it is very clean and mint!

I know I read that too, but I was only commenting on how it looks - I've never seen one like that!

Yes, it is indeed nice looking.
However, I once heard Mr. Zappa proclaim, "Given enough money even I could polish a turd!"
I loved FZ!

I've seen one of those.  Not sure if it was here in the valley or not?

Actually, the Desmosedici had a paint scheme similar a couple years back.  Let me dig up the pic.

Zappa said it... Mythbusters proved it.

Let me guess, they polished up a petrified cow turd?

Not petrified, actual turd...

With the exception of IZ, you guys can all check your negativity at the thread door.

Damn.....

It's a nice looking bike (IMO - that's all that I'm saying). It wasn't my intent to open a debate about it being worth anything more than that.

Dave, I wouldn't worry about the thread wandering a little bit.  It's not like most threads are a "yes" or "no" issue anyway, I see them as a way to start conversation.  The banter can get old sometimes, but we all do it.

I like the look of that bike, and don't remember seeing that paint scheme on that series bike. What I think is interesting is how similar the 1098 tricolore looks to it:

I know...it does get a little old....

Anyway, I've always been a fan of the tri-colore especially the Monster. I test rode one a while back for fun when the Duc truck was around. That bike was amazing! The 1098 looks great like that too!

Wow Dave, are you a bit wound up today? The only one who said anything remotely negative was Doug.

And given that, I think he was referring to the 999 itself, not the paint job...

Yeah, that was it.  Randy just got rid of his.  I remember him saying on a few occasions that the 999 couldn't touch the handling of his other bikes  (996/998). The paint scheme does look good on it though!

BTW..even though it was HOT as h*ll riding it in the AZ sun, I would've still taken Maureen's 749 Dark!!  Evil

Just to clarify.  The 999 handled just as well as the 996.  I just preferred riding the 996.  waytogo
