Title: 50mm for s2r 1000?
Post by: turbowagon on October 22, 2009, 04:00:20 PM
Sorry if it's derby, can't find it on search. Have a quick question.
will a 50mm exhaust system fits s2r 1000? and what's different between s2r 800, s2r 1000, s4r system in terms of the diameter?
Thanks!

Don't quote me on this but I was under the impression they were more like 40mm...

Kits for the S4R that don't replace the head pipes will fit the S2R800.  Unfortunately the only ones that fit the 1000 are the ones made for it.

Don't quote me on it and I don't know about slip ons...

So if s2r 1000 is 40mm, I should be able to buy a 50mm slip-on and weld to a s2r 1k's 40mm mid pipe or udder right? I remember someone fitted a shorty pipe onto s2r 1k before?

I don't think that the full termi system is even 50mm and I believe it is one of the bigger mid-pipes.

You could make an adapter to attach to the s-pipe, but I am having trouble visualizing what you are doing since there are 2 cans back there. What 50mm slip-on are you attempting to attach?

You'll need some type of adapter if you want to weld them together and I'm guessing the difference in pipe diameter will be pretty visual(as in you'll be able to tell there are tiny pipes out of the heads and then large pipes starting at the end of the mid-pipe).

S2R 1000 , S2R 800 and S4R stock diameter is 40mm,  S2R 1000's have a single piece from the front head to the siamese or crossover, while the S2R 800's and the S4R's have a two piece front pipe, Arrow cans are 50mm, I bought a Marving midpipe and Arrow slip-on's so I have 40mm to the s-pipes, they go from 40 to 50mm into the cans, the full Arrow system is 50mm from the heads back, My buddy has this on his 800, EXCEPT for the small scetion out for the front head which is still 40mm
Hope this helps

I have few systems I am considering that seems to be hard to find, I will post on a separate thread.

For this particular system I was speaking of, I was told by the seller it's 50mm and fits S4R.
I think the part number is 96025704B. They used to have it made for s2r1k but discontinued a long time ago.
If I can make it work by welding to a s2r1k mid pipe, I can live with a little visual imperfection or I call it characters  ;)
Looks like this (not the actual photo):

so if I read it correctly a full system for s4r should fit s2r1000 since it starts with  40mm header + matching mid pipe + matching slip on?

Is there a difference in the stubby header angle where it connects to the engine outlet? thanks!

the marving seems to come with header?

Just an FYI, the full termi system for the 800 is indeed 50 mm the entire length of the pipes.  They are large.

Does the full termi system for 800 includes the header?
Is the connector to the engine also 50mm?
It look to me when they sell the mid pipe for s2r 800 or s24, they start after the header. But for s2r1000 they sell the mid pipe includes the header.

In the last post your pictures show that the marving goes from the head to the s-pipes, (and it will work with stock s-pipes and mufflers too) so the s2r 1000 system WILL NOT fit s4r and vise-versa

I guess I'm confused now with the question, But I'll ad that the the system for the 800 and s4r differ at the head because the 800 is 2 valve (as the 1000 is) and the s4r is 4 valve, I think what happened was they built "most" systems to accomidate both engines? then built the when the 1000 came out it had the one piece front header? so built yet another system.
Here is my Marving with the Arrow slip-on's which will be up for grabs when I get the full 50mm system on, btw it has Carbon cans Now

I don't think that the termi mid for the 800 (nor the S4R) is 50mm at the head. I remember having look closely at it and it gets bigger right at or after after the bend.

That bend at the front is the reason the S2R1K and the 800 have different mids, how they attach at the head is different.

Correct.  The 800 and 1000 have different heads so they have a different configuration.  Which is why the 1000 has its own header.

Sorry about the confusion, I think I am getting a little clear now.
Here is a chart based on the image below, please correct if I am wrong.

Model              |  #1       |#2        |#3          | #4           | #5        |#6        |#7
S2R 1k            |  40mm |  NA    | NA        | 40mm   | 40mm  |  50mm |  50mm
S2R 800          |  40mm | 50mm | 50mm    | 50mm   | 50mm  |  50mm |  50mm
S4R                 |  40mm | 50mm | 50mm    | 50mm   | 50mm  |  50mm |  50mm

So your current configuration with marving + arrow slip-on is same as stock but if you go full 50mm arrow you will have this:
Model                      |  #1       |#2        |#3          | #4           | #5        |#6        |#7
S2R 1k arrow full    |  40mm |  NA    | NA        | 50mm   | 50mm  |  50mm |  50mm

Since the slip-on I was looking at was designed for S4R, I guess I am looking at the configuration like this:
Model                      |  #1       |#2        |#3          | #4           | #5        |#6        |#7
S2R 1k arrow full    |  40mm |  NA    | NA        | 40mm   | 50mm  |  50mm |  50mm

So my problem will be to fit #4 and #5, does that sound right?

OK, you're wrong, the 800, 1000 & s4r are 40mm stock from front to back period. they start as 40mm and are 40mm to the mufflers, (so you can use the marving with stock mufflers or slip-ons)

Model                #1      |#2      |#3         | #4         #5       |#6       |#7
S2R 1k            |  40mm |  NA    | NA        | 40mm   | 40mm  |  40mm |  40mm
S2R 800          |  40mm | 40mm | 40mm    | 40mm   | 40mm  |  40mm |  40mm
S4R                |  40mm | 40mm | 40mm    | 40mm   | 40mm  |  40mm |  40mm

the marving is 40mm it replaces the stock pipe & udder, the slip-ons are 40mm at the udder and 50 at the muffler, so this would be with slip-on's

Model             |  #1      |#2      |#3        | #4        #5       |#6        #7
S2R 1k            |  40mm |  NA    | NA        | 40mm  | 40mm  |  50mm |  50mm
S2R 800          |  40mm | 40mm | 40mm    | 40mm  | 40mm  |  50mm |  50mm
S4R                   40mm | 40mm | 40mm       40mm  | 40mm  |  50mm |  50mm

then this would be with full arrow or termi's ( I don't have termi's but I think they use the stck fron section of the collector as well)

Model              |  #1       |#2    |#3        | #4       | #5      |#6        |#7
S2R 1k            |  50mm |  NA    | NA        | 50mm   | 50mm  |  50mm |  50mm
S2R 800          |  40mm | 50mm | 50mm    | 50mm   | 50mm  |  50mm |  50mm
S4R                |  40mm | 50mm | 50mm    | 50mm   | 50mm  |  50mm |  50mm

after this i'm not sure what else to tell you....

I started with the marving & stock mufflers...(too quiet)
then got arrows (titanium) with baffles (still too quiet)
took out the baffles, good sound, loud!
them got CF arrow cans....louder yet...deeper sound
no pic yet...sorry
next should be Arrow collectors (50mm) front to back....
close to this....

Ok thanks! So theoretically the slip-on are interchangeable between s2r 800, s2r 1000 and s4r correct?
I just checked a vendor's site and looks like they are.

Thanks for the picture. I think the full system looks much better than slip-on. You should go full out and sell me your marving mid-pipe for cheap  ;D
After more research, I think the slip on for Multi 1000 and sports classic 1000 can also be adapted by S2r/S4R. That opens uop even more sections.
