Post by: Raux on November 07, 2009, 09:06:04 AM

Work has picked up for me, so I know I've been around less. But it does seem slower.

Big ride yesterday, but did do a couple of south canyon runs this morning (on that dreaded plugged tire  [laugh])

For the record, mine isn't square, it's more like a V, but thats a whole different thread.

Over the years, I've noticed cycles of traffic - as the weather gets worse, chatter goes down. People aren't riding as much, so don't have as many questions about modding or fixings

80's-90's here in Phoenix.  [thumbsup]

Working now and riding more in this beautiful weather!

My local club had it's "depressed after season party tonight"  [beer] [drink] [drink] [drink] [drink]

It's too early to have the itch. It's time to relax. (I'm still riding, but that's just me on my own)

Give us a couple of weeks/ a month and "everyone" will be on their way with mod plans [thumbsup]

, but, yes, it's kind of slow. I suppose the US economy isn't helping much either [bang]

forget this modding stuff, if i keep doing this i'm going to go broke soon.

afterall just had the 18k service done and got new belts, tires, etc. needless to say it was a good sized bill but it runs smooth and the new steering head bearing the thing practically turns when you think about it.

and asked the mechanic and was told it seems like the 848 dry clutch conversion may fit on my monster so i have to possibly save up for that and consider if i want it done.

There is absolutely no logical reason why i would want to change out a perfectly good wet clutch for a dry clutch.  Stupid idea? of course it is, huge waste of money? who are we kidding of course it is.  am i going to think about this for the next 3 months while i save up some money and try to justify why i should get a noisy dry clutch on an otherwise perfectly running bike? .. no doubt, i can finally have the bike i wanted in the beginning.

Just thinking out loud...  With all the automatic "derby" replies to new messages, I wonder how much affect it has on slowing down new postings.  People really had to think hard and search hard to come up with brand new topics or questions.  I mean, He Man and his fight against the world is single-handedly keep the board going.

Just a thought.  Carry on.

and then in a few months, folk start getting tetchy...  ;)

On what bike?

You should do it and make a new thread - it'll speed things up on the board [thumbsup]

IF there is not so much activity, could it be anything to do with homepage issues?

These days I come straight in from a link to the general forum.

But when I was using a link to the homepage, most of the time the page wouldn't load, or if it did the pics wouldn't load, and while they weren't loading the menu wouldn't work.

With every BOMB article posted in sequence, I'm guessing the 'weight' of that home page is ... umm ... monstrous.

Its simple science really, the speed of the board is directly proportional to bums-on-seats  trying out the twisties and trying to approach terminal velocity whilst on two wheels. Or one.

I know I'd spend more time here, its a great little online hidey place but that bikes too damn fun, and I cant think up anything good to type. Case in point: read any of my posts... sad but true.

Lack of interesting topics.

I agree there is a lack of good topics.  Our riding season is really picking up here in FL!

Dolph      :)

Could it be that the interesting topics are ring frenced by derby?

We wonder why new people post a few times and leave?  The "derby" shit is stupid and pushes people away.

now...back on subject...    I just finished Rossi's Book "What if I never tried?" and says several times how much he hates the Ducati mentality of it being about the bike and not the rider.  Would be quite the hypocrite to go with them.

+1 on all accounts... it works great.  Especially at the track  [bow_down]

Back on topic though, I dunno about the slow down on the board traffic though.  Been busy working and trying to afford new parts of my bike
