Title: Rossi to Ducati for 2011?
Post by: Travman on November 10, 2009, 11:36:52 AM
Rossi to Ducati for 2011?  It is a possibility if it is being talked about by the man himself.  Can you imagine how popular he would become in Italy if he actually won a championship with Ducati?

I'm new to the forum; can someone please tell me what derby and double derby mean?

  [bow_down]   Rossi

With Spies (fellow Texan BTW) moving to Yamaha MotoGP from World Superbike, I could believe it.

Yep, I put up some pics from my camera phone here:

I'm still waiting on parts to complete "MY" bike.  I'll take and post some better quality pics when she is complete.

So far all she has is the Termignoni slip-on race system with the tuner and air filter.  I have on order: carbon fiber front fender, carbon fiber sprocket cover, carbon fiber seat cover, DP fender eliminator, open clutch cover, Oberon Cyclone clutch plate, Speedymoto SS spring & cap set, Billet crankshaft cover & oil fill plug.  The clutch plate, crankshaft cover & oil fill plug are in red; I'm trying to find the camshaft covers in red also.  If you know of some let me know.

I know they ride for the other guys (Yami) but I can't wait to see the excitement when Spies and Edwards get together on the same team.  Like I said, they are both from Texas, like me.  I met Edwards in person before.  He is a real down to earth type guy.  And if Rossi and Stoner are a team; we're in for some GREAT racing next year!

Double Derbies require a special kind of inattention and a true lack of searching by the poster so this video should be reserved for them.

It would be a grand finale for a wonder career.  Rossi should look closely at ending his career on a high note and not pull a Brett Favre!

We wonder why new people post a few times and leave?  The "derby" shit is stupid and pushes people away.

now...back on subject...    I just finished Rossi's Book "What if I never tried?" and says several times how much he hates the Ducati mentality of it being about the bike and not the rider.  Would be quite the hypocrite to go with them.

Casey Stoner seems to be the only man in the world who can make the Ducati go fast.  Imagine if Rossi joined the team and ended up running mid-pack.  THAT would be a shot to the ego.

True, but hasn't Ducati started to get away from that mentality?  I know one of the reasons that wanted to try NH is because he and Stoner had somewhat similar motorcycling experiences growing up in the sport; i.e. dirt track background and actually liking the bikes to move around underneath them.  They sign Nicky and he can't quite come to grips with the GP9, so they actually start tweaking the bike around some more than just demanding that the rider adjust to accommodate the bike.  Then look what happens, Nicky starts getting better and better times and sees MUCH improvement over the course of the season.  Sure he still isn't quite up to the speeds that the four major contenders are at, but he has made major improvements.  I am thinking that Ducati has started to realize that they might actually have to be just as flexible with their design/set-up as they have previously demanded their riders be...

i don't see rossi going to ducati, he is just saying that to sorta tick off yamaha in  a way of saying, i'll go to the other big boys and beat you if you don't give me tons of money for the next couple of years.

he is bluffing, unless he "wants" to come in second and 3rd in teh next couple of years he won't go to ducati, right now the yamahas are where its at for motogp if he wants numbers 9 and 10 world championships he shoudl stay right where he is.

if he wants money to pay off his tax evasion debt then well he should hit ducati up for a huge payday then and come in 3-5th in the championships for the next few years and collect the big payday.

the ducati may be a fast bike but only stoner can get those times out of it, nobody else can, sure NH is improving on it, but he is not getting the pole position or the top 3 qualifying times.

they actually wanted nicky over stoner and initially signed casey after nicky (and two other guys) turned them down.

It is meant to be in fun, don't read too much into it.  Nobody seriously cares if a topic has been posted 3 times - but it is just better to add to a post from yesterday than have 3 new ones on the front page.

as you posted those are times from a "post season" testing session.

qualifying and race results are what counts.

these guys are all playing games and such with the bikes for "test sessions".  i have a feeling the ducati will be fast next season but without stoner on it, it doesn't place higher than 4th regardless of who is on it.

Isn't Brett sitting at 7 wins 1 lose for the season?
I'm pretty sure Rossi would take that ANY season
Just saying!!

They are both in essentially the same class of athlete and most do get a bit on the demanding side .... not saying it's a good thing

I think he sticks with Yamaha this year and goes onto Ducati year afterwards and tries to win a all Italian Championship. He's just posturing and getting Yamaha where he wants them.

Can't imagine Rossi going near Ducati while Casey's still there....unless Casey continues the "act" into 2010, in which case(y) he'll be gonzo.

Besides, imo, Rossi's only condition for signing will be to ride a bike developed with/by his team......it ain't about the money.
