Title: New M1100 exhaust, rearsets and clutch cover
Post by: moto on February 05, 2010, 08:52:14 AM
Just got received this picture.

What do you think of the exhaust, clutch cover and rear sets?

The exhaust is available like pictured in full Titanium, OR with a rhs/lhs exit in full Titanium, half kit with rhs/lhs silencer exit & non-.cat centre pipes, or the silencers on their own.

Sample rearsets and clutch cover is on its way. The rear sets feature folding pegs and a CF heelguard.

Awesome looking exhaust!  I think the aftermarket manufacturers are figuring out how to make parts that goes with the lines and style of the new Monster.  Now if somebody can come up with a decent looking front cowl/fairing for the M696/1100...

Yeah... first time I saw that exhaust I liked very much - with the exception of the welds in the cans - although the more I look, the less those welds bother me....  Same exhaust somehow doesnt look quite so searingly hot here though... :-\

It's made by HPE >> http://www.hpe-auspuff.de/html/monster_696.html (http://www.hpe-auspuff.de/html/monster_696.html)

I have a coupla questions for moto.....

How's pricing looking for this system in US$ (coz Euro prices scared me off!!)??

And are you able to get hold of this flapper-less mid-pipe that HPE make (p/n DU.22A.004)
and if so....  ;D hows US$ pricing looking for that item too??

True, but thats not the only thing that irks.....  when pictured from direct side-on, to my eye there seems too much ...um... air... between the subframe and the not-quite-close-enough-to-vertical connecting pipe leading to the cans...  um? :-\   What I'm trying to say is that I'd like it more if that mid-pipe ascended at a steeper angle.

+1

It might be that way to clear the turn signals?

Ah, I see the area you are talking about. Well, it would make suspension adjustment easy from the side while the bike is resting on the kickstand and thus leaning the other way.

i've decided that
1 you need to buy a Monster 1100,
2 mod the crap out of it the way you think it SHOULD look.
3 then shut up  [bang]

Ain't gonna happen. If you gave me one, I would sell it and rebuild a 900.  ;)

Raux, you're wasting your time.  You cant convert these Roundheads - just ignore 'em and they'll eventually go away (they all get lost in the dark sooner or later)  ;).

Meanwhile back on the subject of M1100 exhausts, I came across this full titanium system....

.... and IMO (with the exception of the bizarre "dent" half way up the vertical section) its strikingly gorgeous to behold  [bow_down].  The only thing more striking than the exhaust system itself....is the price  :o   ... around 400,000 Yen - which by my calculation comes out somewhere in the region of $4500.    :o :o

Yup... saw that one.  Nice in an old-school kinda way, but nowhere to hang the can from once you ditch the stock footpeg hangers.

Never happen. Once again the light is an easy mod. Ugly lasts forever.  ;)  Oh and the purple looks stellar. Kinda like a Busa. Not to mention the white seat.  [roll]
