696 dark... heard a bike on a commercial, caught a glimpse of a mini faring, thought it was a duc, youtube confirmed. mmm... Title: Re: Visa Black Commercial Post by: NoisyDante on February 18, 2010, 06:09:49 PM I was the audio mixer on that spot.
It is a 696; notice the right mirror has black tape holding it on, the actress dropped the bike initially. The sound is also not that of a monster, it is an 851 from our sound effects library. I offered to do some passes in my 695 but we were pressed for time. The owner of the production company Brain Farm chose it because the monster looks 'badass'. I agree. [thumbsup] Title: Re: Visa Black Commercial Post by: The Don on February 18, 2010, 06:20:31 PM That has got to one of the best songs ever, AC/DC are playing in Sydney tonight, Im going to monday nights concert [bacon] [bacon] [bacon]

Title: Re: Visa Black Commercial Post by: direktor on February 18, 2010, 07:44:11 PM Hey guys...
As much as I'd like to say 696 (because I own one)...I see a single-sided swingarm. Looks like 1100 to me, with 696 plastics. [edit: also just now seen the plastic reservoirs on the bars of the 1100] Also, the picture vehicles on something like this usually get picked by the director...with plenty of bullshit input from the creative director at the advertising agency. Dante, was the director ALSO the guy who runs BrainFarm? Too bad you have to break it to everybody here that car shoots are almost always MOS (i'll leave it to you to explain what MOS is for everybody else :P ) Title: Re: Visa Black Commercial Post by: Novelo on February 18, 2010, 07:45:03 PM I was the audio mixer on that spot. Dante, was the director ALSO the guy who runs BrainFarm? Too bad you have to break it to everybody here that car shoots are almost always MOS (i'll leave it to you to explain what MOS is for everybody else :P ) Well to start, Black card is owned individually and the Visa insignia is literally paid for to appear on the card. Black Card has no official affiliation with Visa. The owner of Black Card called the guys at Brain Farm (http://www.brainfarmcinema.com/ (http://www.brainfarmcinema.com/)) to make a series of commercials that look like mini movies that feature a ton of black vehicles (I actually didn't have the time to take notice of the swingarm, and I was using temp picture, but either way that women did a number on it). There was no agency involved, which is odd. Normally you'd have a bunch of douchey creatives giving their out of touch opinions, resulting in a spot so convoluted and random that it doesn't accomplish anything (notice anything in this years Superbowl ads?) For Black Card, the owner had the vision and his requirements, and the production team of Brain Farm got it done. Total budget, $300,000. Believe or not, that's extremely frugal. Ahhh, MOS! Essentially MOS means without sound. There are numerous theories for the MOS acronym, but my favorite is that the early German Hollywood directors would pronounce "without sound" as "Mit Out Sound", and this MOS stuck. Other say it stands for things such as minus optical sound, muted on screen, and motor only sync. I like the German story more. The scene wasn't necessarily shot MOS, but it certainly wasn't useable. Title: Re: Visa Black Commercial Post by: NoisyDante on February 18, 2010, 09:21:03 PM For really real? You worked that ad and I posted it first? :D As for that second line... I hope she is better in bed than on a bike then. I was surprised to see your post, I didn't even think to post it up here, I'm so used to my projects being under lock and key until they air. Wow your right what are the chances huh to bad they were pressed for time. Yea, would have been fun to hear my bike on tv. I bet there would be a few DMF'ers who'd hear it and say, "hmm, that sounds like an exbox exhaust." I might be doing a short animated comedy soon where a hunter on a bike is chasing an armadillo, and I'll totally be using the sound of my bike for that one. [edit: also just now seen the plastic reservoirs on the bars of the 1100] You have good eyes too, I now see it does have the reservoirs and the wheels of an 1100. No clear shot of the right side of the SSS, but I guess the left side would be distinctive as well. That story on how the client wasn't really Visa, and how they skipped an agency is BEYOND bizarre. Hope the checks cleared! You're on the DMF, clearly you're an exception. I'm sure many of you are lovely people. [beer] Don't take any offense in that. But to be perfectly honest most creatives don't know jack about how to make a proper spot, which I why I prefer to work in film. MOST creatives if they show up to an audio session will sit in the back of the room (where the listening quality is the worst) and yap about buying a house or driving a Mercedes. Then someone will say "let's order lunch" and after an hour and a half of passing a sushi menu around, another one will say "i don't want sushi, let's get thai." Then a woman will say "the sound effects are too loud" as we are recording voiceover without any sound effects playing at the time. THEN a dude will say "are we mixing in surround?" when in point of fact it is a radio spot. It gets frustrating when jackasses are telling me what to do when they can't tie their own shoes. I won't continue ranting because I could fill up this forums server with all crap that I put up with. I'll end with this little gem. I hope that's not TOO common... >_< Wicked wicked creative. Nice. Title: Re: Visa Black Commercial Post by: direktor on February 19, 2010, 12:25:26 PM One thing I'm finding funny here...
3 people have made jokes they can't remember what the spot is for, or can't figure out the message... Maybe they should have gotten an agency in the mix! (this is the first and last time I'll probably ever advocate giving money to a middleman!) ;D Oh how I wish my 696 dark was an 1100 dark. Dag. Title: Re: Visa Black Commercial Post by: NoisyDante on February 19, 2010, 02:55:16 PM I do think they're just jokes though, the Black Card logo at the end is the payoff for the viewer to inquire the entire time, wtf is this hot chick doin with all these badass toys. Not real important though, haha, forget black card, look, hot chick in patent leather on a ducati!
Title: Re: Visa Black Commercial Post by: Punx Clever on February 19, 2010, 06:47:48 PM I just showed it to my girlfriend... to which she replied:
"The only way I knew it was a Ducati was because of those god awful mirrors" She does love the bikes, I promise... and we all hate "those god awful mirrors" Title: Re: Visa Black Commercial Post by: Raux on February 21, 2010, 08:47:39 AM have to disagree with the comment about the black being lost in the message. to be honest, the commercial has all of you talking, seems like worth all the money.
it's all about getting people talking. and how many of you have passed on the vid to others? it's a great add, and Dante, the sound was superb. nice job. Title: Re: Visa Black Commercial Post by: NoisyDante on February 21, 2010, 09:52:32 AM it's a great add, and Dante, the sound was superb. nice job. Thank you sir! [thumbsup]"The only way I knew it was a Ducati was because of those god awful mirrors" Funny enough I almost told them they should knocked the other one off, and removed the beer tray while they were at it, but I decided it best not to point out the flaws of their commercial. ;) Title: Re: Visa Black Commercial Post by: SolidSnake3035 on February 21, 2010, 03:08:29 PM have to disagree with the comment about the black being lost in the message. to be honest, the commercial has all of you talking, seems like worth all the money. Probably none of the people that are getting this linked to them. Title: Re: Visa Black Commercial Post by: NoisyDante on February 21, 2010, 04:15:01 PM Apart from a $500 or so annual fee and decent credit score requirement, I don't think it is all that astronomically difficult. As far as I saw, it doesn't list a minimum spending requirement on the website, as the Centurion AMEX card does, which I believe is $150k yearly.
Title: Re: Visa Black Commercial Post by: SolidSnake3035 on February 21, 2010, 04:41:36 PM Really? I thought it was supposed to be real exclusive.
Also, from blackcard.com : "The Black Card is not for everyone. In fact, it is limited to only 1% of U.S. residents to ensure the highest caliber of personal service is provided to every Cardmember." Oh well. The commercial is still awesome. Title: Re: Visa Black Commercial Post by: justinrhenry on February 21, 2010, 04:46:51 PM 1% of the U.S. population is 3,040,597 people.
No company really wants to limit the number of customers they have. They just want people to think they're special. Title: Re: Visa Black Commercial Post by: duc996 on February 21, 2010, 04:48:13 PM I don't care much for the black card, but the babe was hottttttttttttttt!!! great scenery also!

I tried that.
Adjust Search Parameters You may have meant to search for hero gopro. Search for: Forum > Moto Board > General Monster Forum > Search > Search Results Pages: [1] (No results found) Pages: [1] I figured I would ask on a thread where their was someone that might have some insight. Besides what does it matter if the thread is old or new. Title: Re: Visa Black Commercial Post by: AJ on July 29, 2011, 11:49:42 AM I would search on the No Moto Content board, there's been discussions of gopro there...

The advert had lots of pricey toys, an expensive looking house, and only a handful of chic, beautiful people. As a Consumer, this leads me to believe that if I have that card I too can have expensive things, be well dressed, and become better looking. Same 'ol me, but now with added more betterness, and exclusivity. Bam! ;D Title: Re: Visa Black Commercial Post by: Vindingo on July 30, 2011, 06:54:04 AM Forget the Duc and the helicopter... was anyone else concerned that her toe nail polish probably didn't have adequate time to dry before slipping on those leather boots?
