Yamaha's new XT1200Z Super Ténéré looks to be competition to the new Multistrada 1200 in Europe. The powerplant features a parallel twin motor with four valves per cylinder, and makes 108hp @ 7,250 RPM and 84lbs•ft @ 6,000 RPM.

Check out the plexiglass in front of the headlights. I think the headlight protection and the two round lights are accessories.

Check out the tubless spoked wheels. Since the spokes don't pass through the rim there is no need to worry about sealing the spokes.

Interesting side mounted radiator with a fan (cover has been removed in this picture). Hope the fan isn't obnouxiously loud like the ones on the Buells. I think the radiator is only on one side because the right side does not have a large vent like the left side.

Ooh! Looky! A new Ewan McBoorman Special! [popcorn]
All kidding aside, I'd rock it. 8)

I friggin' love it. I'd take it over a BMW or the new Multi. Totally cool! [thumbsup]
It's a sad day when I find a new Yamaha more attractive then a new Ducati.
Nice, but I bet you won't see it in the USA.

Fixed.
Two wheels=good. [thumbsup]
looks fun and very easy to ride, but i don't think it looks better than the new multi.
More a copy..cough...I mean competitor to the 800 GS. Looks like a KLR's big brother with the square tins on either side. [roll]
Interesting, it's s shaft drive.
SHAFT!

Awesome! I really like the 660 Tenere, this is just wild.
I can dig it.
I like it, looks very industrial especially the GS style panniers.
I have to wonder how they're handling balance/counter balance in that engine.
From an engineering perspective I sure like the 90 degrees layout of a Ducati a whole lot better.
I bet it is a good bike though.

If bmw and triumph can do it well, I am sure Yamaha can too.

the MTS is more road bike than this huge bike. now if the MTS could just drop the beak.
I did the math on that thing. It's 100 lbs. heavier than the Ducati of the same ilk.
Weight! ...... It matters.
Oh yea, HP matters too.

and no beak!
Ugly. I'd personally take the Guzzi Stelvio over it. The Stelvio isn't any lighter but looks better IMO, and I suspect I'd like the engine better. Good competition for the 1200GS though...although we probably won't see it in the US.
I don't think it is direct competition for the MTS1200. The MTS is more street oriented...like the Tiger 1050.
The tubeless spoke wheels are nothing new...both the GS and Stelvio run them (although they're an option on the new GSs).
Ordered mine today.

Not here till May though, ouch!
