Title: PLEASE READ: Not Safe for Work Avatars
Post by: Drunken Monkey on March 09, 2010, 11:44:26 AM
We here at the DMF, in an attempt to make sure that the DMF remains a work-safe board, have always had a policy of not allowing NSFW photos

And by and large this policy has worked out well for our members. Folks have done a great job keeping to the guidelines that the DMF should be able to be up on a screen in anyone's office and not get them in trouble for anything other than wasting time.

However, lately we've been getting complaints about people's avatar pictures.

This hasn't been an area where we've been enforcing the "Members shall not post images or links containing, nudity, partial nudity, sexual acts, or depiction thereof.  This includes pictures for purely sexual purposes." rule, but unfortunately it's become a problem.

So in the interests of keeping the board SFW, we ask that any folks who's avatars fit into the above category please change them to something "work appropriate."

We also realize folks don't log on every day so there will be a grace period before we go in and manually remove them.

Thanks for understanding, and thanks for keeping the DMF available as a invaluable time sink for those of us with internet access at work   [thumbsup]

~The Mods

I totally understand, but I don't access DMF at work...
- so, can I please be allowed to watch? Some of those pictures are really stunning.

;D ;D ;D

How funny - I was just over at the R1-Forum and the avatars there make the avatars here (even the ones that caused this change) look like a G movie.

I'm cool w/the change none the less.  [moto]

FTR, I liked your avatars and don't think they crossed the line, but that's not my call.  I still think you should post a link to a web page with hi-res versions of the collection.

Aside from that, I really don't care that much.  Either way, I'll probably still haunt around this forum.

Oh well its not like there aren't other places on the internet I can't get my almost nekkid lady fix. But those tiny little pictures were considered offensive? Don't go outside then. Especially in big cities. Ever seen the ads for Abercrombie or American Apparel?

Note to Mods:

Where you have posted the 'New Avatar Policy' is hidden if you shrink the header. I had to be informed by the Boss ... so there may be many who don't see it.

If only there was a clever way to switch off avatars like you can the header, everyone would be happy [cheeky]

Bugger. I just realised that my avatar contains a whole lot of nakedness :o

We're sort of counting on the members to spread the word. Also, it's not like we have a deadline so if it takes a while for the word to get out, that's fine.

It's not a matter of being offended.

I like semi-naked/semi-clothed girls as much as the next guy.  I'd even go so far as to say I love semi-naked/semi-clothed girls, but if that was on my screen at work, it'd be a quick trip to HR and a ding on my performance review for violating company electronic communication policy, AT BEST.  At worst, It'd be a cardboard box full of my personal stuff and trying to explain to my family why I got fired for looking at a 90 pix by 90 pix picture of a half-clothed model.

Also for the record, I did not complain about it, I just don't browse from work.
