I said I didn't like it when I first saw it...I said it was OK a couple months later... a few weeks later I said I kind of liked it...a couple hours later I couldn't stop thinking about it.  It makes my 695 look like a scared little boys toy.  It's an S4RS overdosed on bull steroids and ready to eat anything alive.  I think it's the coolest looking naked bike Ducati has available right now.  In a couple years I'm looking at a possibility of upgrading or maybe actually starting my stable.  Who knows, Ducati may have something else available by then.
What do you monster folks think of the streetfighter?  Is it allowed in the cool club?  Would you sell your monster to get into one?

Yes it's cool and fast and all that but I would not sell my monster to but a Street Fighter. My Monster and I have thing goin on, Ya know [moto]  I still hate the headlight of the SF but I wouldn't let that stop me from Buying one. I'm sure the headlight would be the last thing on my mind when the front end comes  up in third gear  ;D The only reason I don't haveo one in my garage is the the current state of the home building bizz  [bang].

The Streetfighter is great if you want a bike created to make you dumberer.  Every time I ride one, my IQ decreases by around 100 points.  And that's starting with a baseline that barely breaks 70.  The throttle goes to 11.  The brakes make my rectum shoot out my nose.  The suspension is like sex with a threesome with Heidi Klum & Heidi Klum.  Overall, it's awesome.  And I still wouldn't trade my monster for one.

I rode one and also fell in love BUT, a big BUT, is the damn headlight and the exhaust.  The exhaust pictured there looks the part IMO though.  I just HATE HATE HATE inflated Termi prices for a piss poor finish on the carbon and welds.

If money allowed I'd get one in a heartbeat and put a 2 into 1 Remus on it.  [thumbsup]  I'd even sell my Monster, if I still had one. Now, if I had a S4R that might be a different story.

I just love the evilness of the SF, even though it has ugly mirrors.  I'm stuck in Penn State right now, I've been here all week...there is snow on the ground (keep in mind I'm from Florida) and I'm scared.  I'm here moving a dual MBE lab, and all I can think about is how much I miss my wife, dogs and the  duc.  But alas, the thought of my ugly DSS (I know some of you vehemently disagree with me on that one) makes me want the SF so damn bad.  I know other bikes have the SSS and I could convert mine and da da da, but still...yea...the SF is an evil monster...born of fire.
I get to go home tomorrow and see my babies and I just can't wait (it's been a hell week).

Yes, yes and no.  I'm assuming you did engineering based on the fact that you stated FSU/FAMU.  I did college and grad school at FSU Chemistry and now I'm a postdoc at the NHMFL.  That place ring a bell?
 
 
 
It's morning now, and I feel like I'm reading this thread for the first time... [drink] [coffee]  [popcorn]

I was ready to buy a Streetfighter this year, but the more I thought about it, the more I wanted to buy an older SBK and turn that into a real Streetfighter.  Either way, last November, I checked out a leftover 08 HYpermotard and wound up buying it, so the Streetfighter will not happen unless I find a good used SBK cheap.

I do love the Streetfighter as an exercise in excess, but I would much rather own a S2R 1000 with judiciously applied bling.  I prefer the mechanical simplicity of the air-cooled 2 valve motors.  Was ogling a low-mile black/white one at a local Duc dealer this past weekend...

The SF is a beautiful bike,Ducati hit the jackpot on this one! It just has that mean powerful look on the bike.I wouldn't trade my s4r for the SF though.I couldn't even maximize the power of my bike what more for the SF :-)

I have been dreaming about the SF since I got back in town.
Then this week, we had to leave town to see my mom through a medical procedure, and I left my monster at home.  I have insurance and my wife ACTUALLY did agree that if the 695 gets stolen, I can upgrade to the SF. ;D 8)
More than likely the monster will be sitting, covered at home when I get back.

I absolutly love my SF - Loved my monster as much but this thing is like new love!!

i like the streetfighter a lot.  didn't like the headlight at first, but i'm ok with it now.  i may have to replace the monster with a streetfighter in the near future.   [moto]  [clap]  [thumbsup]

I'm seriously considering this my next bike after seeing the under tail exhaust.  I'll try like hell not to sell the S4R but if I have to I will, although right now the damn insurance on that thing is stupid expensive.

I sold my S2R1000 to buy a streetfighter. My monster was very special to me, in fact I said on several occasions that it was the one bike I never wanted to be without.

originally my plan was to trade up to an S4RS but when the SF was introduced I decided to wait and take a look. I ended up buying on the day the SF was introduced in the US. I've never looked back or had a second thought, the bike is absolutly phenomenal.

Like any new Ducati there are a few things to change and personalize, and fueling with E3 restrictions is too lean on the low end, but once the bike is tweaked there's nothing like it.

I've done a lot of work to mine but I'm still waiting for an exhaust system that I like. I love the looks and especially the headlight, when you see it in-person the bike just looks bad@ss! but to ride it is different for everybody, it takes a little time to understand it and a little more time to appreciate it's capability.

I think I'm in for the long haul with this bike, I can't imagine anything that is more fun. (I'm an adrenalin junky, and the streetfighter pumps adrenalin in buckets!)

I say hell yes trade your monster, go for it! You just can't understand how amazing the SF is till you've lived with it for a while.
And personally, I see the SF as an evolutionary step for the monster series

Test rode one a couple of weekends ago. Great bike, but not so good in the boring Florida roads. I need something comfortable enough for long distances.

Comfort is a personal thing, I'm a lot more comfortable on the Streetfighter than I was on my Monster.

did you change the seat?  I felt my nads pressing to hard against the tank and I'm still using them so I'll need them in top shape. 

I would love this bike if I lived back in North Georgia.

Excuse my ignorance but is the red frame on the SF a custom jobbie ?

I love it, but I'm in a spot many of us find ourselves....   bike customized and set up just for me...versus new stock bike.   Every time I go test ride something I am most happy with my own scoot when I get home.    Of course if I did the things to the streetfighter I did to my bike then I'd have my bike turned up to 11 instead of 8.5.

But I think for now I'll keep modifying the rider versus the bike.

Yes, its custom. I did the work myself.  [thumbsup]  (my wife helped a lot)

I've also changed the bars, the seat, the footpegs and a whole bunch of other things. (still trying to decide on an exhaust)
I did a lot of the same kind of mods with my monster too. (but not a frame paint)

I like the SF better than the molecular thingamagic....not ready to trade my monster but the SF is definitely on the list when I find some extra space in the garage.

took a fully done up S version with termi pipes for an hour long test ride today.............my brain hurts bad. I can't see any practical purpose for it whatsoever............but god do I want one.

thankfully it's beyond my financial means for the forseeable future.

Someone probably already said this, but an SF with the 1100 2v engine and a couple of other slight changes would be the  [bacon]

Stock SF was fun for a while, but needed better fueling and more grunt. Now I have perfect fueling, and too much grunt on the SF, but every time I ride it, I know Im just one second away from a high speed pursuit.

It pretty much kicks the Angel on my right shoulder in the balls and lets the lil Devil fellar take over and get me in trouble.

Wanna really fall in love with a SF?  Ride behind one with this DoubleDog exhaust.  I had the pleasure last weekend. My God, did it sound awesome.  I swear I saw people throw themselves off the cliffs and into the Pacific to get away from the aural onslaught.   [evil]

Re looks . .  that Remus looks pretty good and I generally really enjoy their sound quality.  I still think the SF looks best with Termis.  I wasn't a fan of how the bike looked 'til I saw one with Termis on it.   [thumbsup]


I'm with ya.  I used to really dislike how it looked, but (a) I'm getting used to it, (b) it looks a ton better on the 1198 race bikes (Tigre is running one as is one of the DoubleDog engineers) and (c) this blackened version looks better than the prior iterations (like the one A M posted -- which I think is also Michael's SF). 

But the sound . . . oh, that sound.   [thumbsup]  It doesn't sound like a straight pipe--which is what you'd think--where it would give up sound quality and be too raspy and unrefined.  It still has a great sound quality, especially on throttle.  It sounds so good I could give shit what it looks like.  Did I mention loud though?  I ran into my rev limiter a coupla times last weekend while following Michael because I couldn't hear my own bike over the sound of his.  [evil]  

That pic looks like it belongs in the back of a pick-up here in Alabama.  :D

HAH!  Yea, I see Naresh pretty often (actually ran into him in the hallway about 30 minutes ago).  He's still got his group in FSU chemistry and they are still pretty powerful.  I will tell him you said hi.

Goldsby, Kroto and others...), but I'm working with Theo Siegrist and James Brooks at the maglab now. 
I wish I had a SF to park outfront.  There are a lot of guys here (and some girls) that ride moto's in to work.  Right now, my buddy and I have the only ducs here (M695 and M696) and there's a nice BMW and some Harleys, but the SF would slap all those bikes in the face, talk down to them, make them feel insignificant, deafen them with engine noise and then run them over.

I dig the engineering solution of that exhaust even if I'm not so into the look or the fact that it'd make my ears bleed. The CF tail they had was really freaking cool though.

Spidey gave me a heads up on this thread, and I'll chime in for what it's worth.

On the SF there are clearance issues for your right heel with the stock setup - that pretty much goes away with the DD exhaust. There is also a flat spot about 3700 rpm, which is also taken care of by the DD, although that may have as much to do with removing the flapper valve as the pipe design - I'm no engineer, so I can't say.

Does it make more power? They say yes, I say I'll believe it, but I'm too big a pussy to really open it up on the street. A track day is planned on the 13th so I'll let you know.

As for the sound, Spidey is correct. This thing will set off car alarms a block away. Neighbors will appear at your doorstep with pitchforks and torches. Small children will cry.  Tourists on twisty mountain roads will pull over RIGHT NOW when you downshift. Earplugs are a must.  But it does sound great. Think of Steve McQueen's Mustang in Bullitt, or a big offshore power boat. If you are an attention whore, this is your pipe. I pulled up to my local Ducati dealer for my 7500 mile service, and everyone piled out of the shop to see what had just pulled in. That was fun.

As for looks, I agree the first prototype looked a bit like a dryer vent, but the new black one looks, IMO, much better. I also took the hugger off b/c it'd have to be cut to fit the pipe, and I'm probably going back to my (quiet!) Termis once I've given the guys some feedback.

Gotta say, it looks really good right there. The *only* thing I wish was slightly refined was the oval exit - its an abrupt turn, and the pipe abruptly stops. Not sure how I'd do it differently, and its a unique look as is.

Wow! That does sound good. The periscope look is interesting. I like it! Mr. Moore's bike looks fantastic, especially on those roads.

Micheal was kind enough to let me borrow his bike (and yes, it's the finest/bestest/mostest motorcycle ever) and let me just say that exhaust is loud.

The only thing louder would be if the exhaust attached directly to your eardrums.

Happened to me last year, I have no desire in buying a new moto or sell my RS but my local dealer informed me that the SF is on display and I should come by for a test ride....silly me, I did and the next day I signed the papers.

Thanks.  I wasnt sold either on the looks of the SF compared to my RS but the riding experience was a different story.... for me at least.   

That motor is enough to sell anyone. I would have suggested a motor transplant, but you really need the more aggressive position to keep the front wheel on the ground.
