Title: where in the US Can I find these clamps?
Post by: djrashonal on March 17, 2010, 08:51:08 PM
So I found them on a german website, but im sure I can use something similar here in the states cheaper
(http://www.gsg-mototechnik.de/37-39scheinwhalter/Standrohrschelle_2.jpg)

this website in Az sells them, but at about double the price
http://www.streetfightersinc.com/Headlightkits.htm (http://www.streetfightersinc.com/Headlightkits.htm)

also i would like to find clamps like these:

the german site is here:

If you consider that the price on the GSG-Moto site is actually in Euros the price on the StreetfightersInc site is very comparable if you take into account the exchange rate and shipping.  I don't think you will get a better price without looking for something similar from a different manufacturer.

Monsterparts can get you a similar Airblade bracket set (http://www.monsterparts.com/p/SCRUDOM01/Airblade+Custom+Fitted+Flyscreen.html (http://www.monsterparts.com/p/SCRUDOM01/Airblade+Custom+Fitted+Flyscreen.html)).  The price is not listed but contact Jeff for price as he can special order the brackets.

I just found out about some hydraulic clamps that they use in airplanes called "adel clamps", very similar to those.

Ive got a tech buddy looking into what sizes they come in and ive asked him for some 50mm and 53mm.

Ill let you know what I find out.

Just googled "motorcycle headlight bracket" and found a shitload of others at much cheaper prices:

[laugh]  Yeah.  I was going to leave my usual sarcastic remark about using google or the forum search button but had nothing better to do so googled it myself.   ;D

I personally would recommend looking for a set of Collari / Collarini Reggi Faro:

CNC Racing (cncracing.it)

(They come in different colors also. Just search the "Collari Reggi Faro" or "Collarini Reggi Faro")

Thanks for taking the time to do that. I've done a lot of researh or "searching" for them myself, I just havent found any that look beefy enough to hold my headlight and fairing, and fit 50mm forks. I just need the clamps since I'm doing a custom bracket. Plus I'm trying to keep it on the cheaper side of things and I really like the look of those clamps

well, I have to say, I am a fan! the price for what I'd like to do right now is a bit higher than hoped for, but the quality looks superb!

Those look like they'd work, but I would need to get two for each fork which looks like it would bump the price up to around 100 bucks just for the brackets

Just ordered these clamps ( http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/appages/ms21919clamps.php (http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/appages/ms21919clamps.php) ) in 2" and will PC them/and or shim to fill in the extra .8mm (.03inch) 5 bucks shipped

So did this allow you to completely ditch your headlight U-Bracket?

Got the clamps in the mail today, super quick shipping!

I did a quick fit test on my 50mm forks and they fit well, and the rubber cover seems to offer a great amount of friction to keep those clamps on there good and snug. When I get a chance to bolt them up I'll snap some more photos, but for 5 bucks, these seem to fit the bill!

Yes they would, I haven't done this yet. I had my U-Bracket pc'd over the winter, so I'm not ready to change it out just yet.

Yes, I had those Aztec8 plastic clamps on my SV, they lasted less than a month I think before one broke.  They're crap!  Not only do the fork mount piece easily break, because it's only one (mounting point) on each side of the headlight tab, the headlight ends up moving if you hit a even a small bump.

Those are adel clamps, and you can get them at Home Depot and Lowes.

we know, online they are $1.50~ 10$ for 6 clamps shipped.

I mounted mine up about a week ago. Very pleased with the result, there is absolutely no wiggle and they dont look out of place at all. the only thing I dont like is how it pushes the headlight more forward than I would like, ill be trimming down the stock ears to move it further back but only after ive got the thruxton fairing mounted (I suspect it may benefit from the added distance).

waaaa.   I was all excited getting ready to go get the adel clamps and realized that my SWATT clipons would interfere with the brackets.  oh well................

I actually have a thruxton fairing as well, and with the ears extending outward that extra bit is should clear it, but i dont know how it looks yet. I'm waiting for my new forks, and then I'll have pics up!

oh im fairly certain it will mount just fine, Im just wondering if the extra .5" - 1" the clamps push it out will aesthetically be better.

I know exactly what you mean, but i think the windscreen should cover it up. I'll let you know after i get the new forks installed, or if you get your up and ready, post up some pics.  [thumbsup]

How did you attach your thruxton fairing? did you just use your two side mounts or did you ad the bottom mount as well?
