So did this allow you to completely ditch your headlight U-Bracket?

Yes they would, I haven't done this yet. I had my U-Bracket pc'd over the winter, so I'm not ready to change it out just yet.

I found this a while back. I thought it was a great idea.

after some research, found out that these are entirely plastic. avoid.

Yes, I had those Aztec8 plastic clamps on my SV, they lasted less than a month I think before one broke.  They're crap!  Not only do the fork mount piece easily break, because it's only one (mounting point) on each side of the headlight tab, the headlight ends up moving if you hit a even a small bump.

Got the clamps in the mail today, super quick shipping!

I did a quick fit test on my 50mm forks and they fit well, and the rubber cover seems to offer a great amount of friction to keep those clamps on there good and snug. When I get a chance to bolt them up I'll snap some more photos, but for 5 bucks, these seem to fit the bill!

Those are adel clamps, and you can get them at Home Depot and Lowes.

I'm curious to see the finished product. I wanna ditch the "U" bracket as well.

we know, online they are $1.50~ 10$ for 6 clamps shipped.

I mounted mine up about a week ago. Very pleased with the result, there is absolutely no wiggle and they dont look out of place at all. the only thing I dont like is how it pushes the headlight more forward than I would like, ill be trimming down the stock ears to move it further back but only after ive got the thruxton fairing mounted (I suspect it may benefit from the added distance).

waaaa.   I was all excited getting ready to go get the adel clamps and realized that my SWATT clipons would interfere with the brackets.  oh well................

I actually have a thruxton fairing as well, and with the ears extending outward that extra bit is should clear it, but i dont know how it looks yet. I'm waiting for my new forks, and then I'll have pics up!

oh im fairly certain it will mount just fine, Im just wondering if the extra .5" - 1" the clamps push it out will aesthetically be better.

I know exactly what you mean, but i think the windscreen should cover it up. I'll let you know after i get the new forks installed, or if you get your up and ready, post up some pics.  [thumbsup]

How did you attach your thruxton fairing? did you just use your two side mounts or did you ad the bottom mount as well?
