I just purchased a new to me cnc mill. My hope is to build a bunch of motorcycle parts with it. After I get all my tools and stuff here I plan on becoming a minor sponsor, so if anyone needs something machined I will be able to do it soon.

CNC machines are fun toys
whoa... CNC in your home basement... make the beast with two backsing AWESOME.
[clap]
It's the ultimate bike accessory
F'N awesome!
Nice! Congrats, good choice on the HAAS too. Used to run your machine's big big brothers back when I was working at Bushmaster.
Of course, you know you're gonna want an SL-20 or SL-20 lathe pretty soon too...it's an addiction. [evil]

Ya we have 8 Haas machines at work everything from a mini mill to a vf 8. First I have to pay this off then I think I'll look for a TL1. It's not as nice as the Sl lathes but My garage is only so big and tl's/tm's can run on single phase power.
don't have any idea what that does, how it does it, or why it gave me a boner. must have potential!
Ohhhh Myyyyy GAAAWD. That has to be the awesomest garage evah!

"But where does the meat go?"
My goodness man! That's a seriously cool toy for playing with bikes! [bow_down]
I will bookmark this thread for every time in the future when I need awesome parts made! lol
FRIGGIN COOL!!!! I have a couple custom projects going right now, I'm sure I'll hit you up soon [bacon] [bow_down]
[thumbsup]
So what is needed to create a particular part? Wouldn't you need a detailed instruction in CNC language? Or can it copy an existing part, like cutting a key?
Years ago when I was in school, I had to write some CNC instructions to cut some basic shape out of wax. No curve or anything. Just 90* cuts and one 45* slope. Half of the class failed...
NIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICE ;D
[popcorn] [popcorn] [popcorn] [popcorn]
I want rearsets for M696 (with pass. pegs) [thumbsup]

It uses a language called G code. It takes a little while to learn and understand it but it's not super hard. It also has What Haas calls an intuitave programming system. In this system you input the info and it creates the g code, and it works pretty well on fairly simple stuff. I have a cam system that I will be programming it with, It will allow me to make more difficult parts faster. It's called Gibbs Cam and it takes a while to learn. We use it at work and I have 12 years experience with it. The software costs more than the machine but, Since I'm a programmer at work they bought me a nice laptop with a well optioned seat of it, as well as my own seat of solidworks.
You should crank out some gixxer fork conversion spacers, you'll have that thing paid off in no time!

Someone PM'ed me about this too and I would love to do it. Can you get me some info on what is needed? and what material
Are you still making cyclecat rearset replacement parts? I'm guessing there would be a lot of interest for those! [thumbsup]

Yes I am. I hope to make a few adjustable toe pegs this weekend. I would also like to find some shift and brake levers so I can try to make some replacements for those. Right now I'm waiting on a quote for annodize on some Replacement pegs I will be having made.
If you have a list, please put me on the list for CycleCat replacement pegs. :)

I will updat that thread when I get the quote back for the annodize.
Will you also be making the rearset adjustable arms like you mentioned in your older thread?

If you're doing a three position version, I'm definitely interrested!
Could I make a suggestion? IMHO, Instead of taking orders on random things, design something cool and put it up for sale to keep your costs lower.
You know what would sell like crazy? Rearsets for about $300.
You could do it too, just make it so the factory pegs will attach, and you only need to make the main part/bracket.
If you've already decided/thought about this, then ignore my suggestion.
i would definitely like to contact you to make some rearsets. what type of file do you need? I can give you a 3ds if that works.
thanks!
WOW!! All I can say is WOW.... [bacon]
can you make this for $150? 93-98 style rearset..

there is a dude on Ebay.uk who has those for $150 + ship. They are nice enough, not show quality, but excellent for trackday.

+1 here [thumbsup]
I could always go for a spacer to replace the mechanically driven speedo sender on my front axle.. Guess anyone with a lathe could do that for me... but still.
+1 on the rearsets. I want a pair for my S2R1K. Also, how about some cam covers?
That's the alternator cover, but yes. Two types out there - one looks like it does on the multistrada, and then the other one that's been on Monsters for awhile.
I just paid and now i'm an official minor sponsor. If you need any thing please send me a Pm
Thanks
I would buy a hard anodized red alternater hole cover with the DMF logo. has to fit the 696 cover!

that would be sick
So I've seen in this thread a few times that people want rear sets made.
That seems somewhat complex. I have an idea to machine a piece of aluminum that would adapt Japanese rear sets to our bikes, at least non S*R bikes, assuming the brake components have the same mounting measurements, leaving options for rear sets nearly endless. Let me know if you'd be interested in making something like that.

i'm assuming this would make rear sets for the 696 very cheap (at least *er)?

Yes I would be interested. I've got an idea that is similar but using rearsets from a sbk. The only problem is you would need to use a swing arm pivot from an S*R which costs $107. I'm not real interested in making $150 rearsets because I think there are too many parts and too much time involved. Anything that cheap might not be too safe.
I'm in on a set of rearsets also.
