Title: Termi Stickers... on or off.
Post by: Adamm0621 on April 07, 2010, 06:31:43 AM
I included boobies for those of you who can't decide.  [roll]

Two questions:

1) Is Termi sponsoring you or otherwise paying you to advertise for them?

2) Is it very important to you to tell the world what brands you prefer or that people recognize that your bike is not stock?

/notice I didn't ask about looks because I think we can all agree that those stickers are make the beast with two backsing ugly on any bike

I for one am not a fan of debadged exhaust especially on standard looking carbon fiber cans.  I think it cheapens the look unless it is a one off custom exhaust or very unique looking exhaust like boomtubes.

I think the original stickers are a little on the large size, so I replaced them with smaller ones.

Personally Im a fan of boobies... but on the other hand... do you have to time to take the decals off? If so go for it... if not who cares...

I couldn't vote for both (keep 'em & boobies) so I voted to keep 'em.  To me, having Termis is part of the total Ducati experience.  Most debadge to hide "lesser" but you got the best man; flaunt it!!!!

I agree with Dennis. If you like the stickers - keep'em!

I didn't put mine on my Leo's because I'm going for a more uncomplicated clean look for my Monster. The stickers were also bright and included colors that I didn't already have on my bike, so I didn't use'em.

You could always use them as bumper stickers for your car! LOL - my SUV has Ducati written all over its back side!!!

On.  You will receive exponentially more spontaneous BJs from strangers than if your cans weren't branded.

The way that I look at it - as a sport bike rider, I recognize cans not by how they look (usually) but by how they sound. A real enthusiast and 99% of the members here know what I'm talking about!

That being said, most cans do look different enough to distinguish them from one-another if the sound isn't key enough.

Though I didn't put the stickers on mine, they do have an etching at the end of each can:

I like the subtle nature of the logo and it's location. It don't like "loud" stickers that distract from the look of my Duc.

also, looks good on a white 1100, not so much on a dark. not sure why, just bland. Im working on some all white stickers. Ducpainter?

Adamm, I think the fact that you are considering taking them off shows which way you are leaning and perhaps you just want confirmation that the world won't end if you do.

For me they just seem a little obvious, big and well, not very complimentary to the bike ... but I am the shy reserved type. I reckon Termis are a bit cliche for a Ducati but I am assuming you didn't buy them just because they are Termis ... so what does it matter, do what you like.

You peoples that can identify a pipe by sound are bloody legends. The same pipe on different bikes sounds different to me ... so different pipes on different bikes - I've got no chance. I don't care about brands - if you like it (looks, sound, performance) that's all that matters.

Leave one on one can, and the other off. It'll be like having two bikes.  ;D

Take 'em off-they add weight  :P

Or at least the cans will fade evenly.

No problem to me either way.

I took mine off before I left the dealer. They are on the fridge in the garage.

And I asked the dealer to please not start my bike for the first time before the termi kit was installed.  I don't know why, I just did.

Believe me, if the factory designers/builders could have, they would have sold the bikes with the kits installed.

IMHO, as delivered, stock OEM Ducatis with stock gearing are POS as compared to kitted bikes.

I am assuming you didn't buy them just because they are Termis ...
this is what i question, since he is asking everyones oppinion

To tell the truth, I don't know a lot about motorcycles when it comes to aftermarket stuff.  I'm sort of mechanically disinclined.  My first Monster already had aftermarket pipes on it, so I didn't have to choose.  I've heard the CF Termis in person and loved the sound.  I love the look of CF on my Dark Monster so I definitely wanted CF pipes.  I did some research, but not as much as I probably should have.

I just kept hearing how great they were (sound, performance, etc...) and since I already liked them a lot, I bought them.  Also, the only negative thing that I heard about the Termis was the price.  Since I lumped the purchase of the pipes in with the price of the bike, the cost wasn't much of an issue.

I don't know what I want to do with the stickers yet so I figured I'd ask.  You guys tend to have good advice, and I value the opinion of the members of this board, so I asked.

If you're going to keep them on..get aftermarket stickers. The B&W or W&B look much better!
I think the Termis look bulky on the 696/1100.  I'm leaning towards the Leo Vince cans.

I may just put a B&W Termi sticker on them though since I dislike the LV logo/colors more than the Termis.    [cheeky]

Termis are expensive enough that you'd think they could pony up for a nice, small, tasteful stamped emblem out of thin stainless that would be riveted on.....

On. otherwise what's the point?
Why spend the best part of 1000 bucks on something top drawer then take the label that you have paid a premium for off?
Unless it make you feel subversive in some way.

I took the termi stickers off the termis i bought used off Ebay. Because some numpty had put them on Ducati performance Remus cans.  Go figure.

So (some) of you guys are honestly telling me that you can't recognize the sound difference beteen say Arrows, Leo Vince, Stock, and Termi cans?

Maybe it's because I really paid a lot of attention to the sound before I finally decided on the ones that I wanted, but frankly, I do think they sound significantly different from one another.

I've decided to take them off, but I'm going to replace them with better stickers.  I agree that the pipes will look too bland with the stickers off, but the blue and red stickers clash with the bike.  I've decided to get these...

Those are pretty trick.  When I stated to keep stickers, I didn't mean you had to keep the original ones.  In fact, I've been thinking about some more tasteful ones myself; but I do want to keep the name (or at least the logo) on them.

Oh and SacDuc; when I said flaunt it I didn't mean in the sense of the Starbuck's poser.  I just meant to be proud of what you have.  Some other bike owners (bikes from the land of the rising sun) remove stickers and name plates so people might think the bike is more exotic than it is.

I took mine off because they were on crooked, and the glue and stickers themselves were so flimsy that the wind was probably gonna peel them back.

I wouldn't mind stickers on my arrows but they are not stickers they are riveted on and are the two ugliest colors yellow and blue which don't match my dark bike.  I just bought some carbon fiber stickers cut them to size and put them over the ugly ones.

The Termi stickers are overt and ugly. Who gives a make the beast with two backs if they're Termis or not. Termis have a rep for being overpriced and poorly fitting anyway. If you're the type that has to festoon your shit with all manner of logos just to make sure everybody knows you have branded goodies on your scoot then keep them on. People like that have small dicks. Like those rednecks that drive Mustangs and plaster MUSTANG all over their cars. It's not because they are afraid nobody will recognize their cars, it's because they like to brag. And they've got small dicks.

Actually, in all honesty the Termi stickers on my pipes look real cheesy in a Latin, non PC kind of way. They're so cheesy they're good! They're as cheesy as the original Monster style of the early nineties. That's the endearing quality.

Going out on a limb here, while some people want to show off brand names to compensate for being member challenged, in contrast, Latin machismo says, "I huv a member grande', und you will know about it!"
It's a Southern European thing.. [laugh]

The Termi sticker style looks three or four decades old. Must be the original style. The style harks back to a time of pre emission V8s, mini skirts and polyester body shirts. Those were the times... [roll]

Anyway, my stickers are quite tatty but I can't take 'em off until I re-clear the carbon which has faded around them. Well that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I just got my chrome/carbon look stickers in yesterday.  The right side looks good but the left side doesn't.  The stickers I got weren't made for left & right so the carbon weave on the left side goes in the opposite direction from the actual carbon.  To the rest of you that have these; are yours like this also or did the seller just send me one wrong sticker.  BTW, I didn't buy from the seller in the link posted by Adamm3406 but from another ebayer.
