Title: Who Does Corse Cuts On Clutch Side Cases?
Post by: RAT900 on April 30, 2010, 12:47:21 PM
I have a spare right side cover that could use the ventilating cuts machined around the clutch basket area

Anyone know of a board member/sponsor/vendor etc who does this work?

Looking for a good clean professional job with radius'd corners etc

as opposed to my wrecking it with my madd skillz using a sawzall and a dremel

Get a drill press, turn that bad boy on, and feed the case cover into it!!!

That was done at DucPond for about $75.

I think it would be cool to see a right side cover that was simply drilled something like this S&S air cleaner cover.  Then you could match a similarly drilled clutch cover.

I have a nice vintage one on ebay from my 1997 748, I dunno if they interchange.  Radiused nicely.  I basically copied the corse mag cover cut pattern.  If you need better pics of how it is cut so you can have someone local get it looking nice I can send you some if you pm me your email.

I see alot of them on ebay, but very few of them are done in a way that flows with the lines correctly.  Take a look at the accesory magnesium cover one of the Ducati dealer's websites if you are curious.

I.E.

Fox and ducpond will do it for $75
Ducshop will charge you $140, and take it next door and have it machined.

My experience/.02

I've used both, guess who I use now?

I have a spare one sitting around gathering dust if anyone's interested. I'm headed over to the storage unit tomorrow and I'll grab it so I can get pics.

Edit: It's aluminum, not mag.
