Friend gave me a crack at the BETA, cracked with AI.  Pretty fun.  Not very impressive on his ancient computer (Read, 5FPS at 200/200 peeps) but when I finally get it, it should be awesome.

Here are the PC system requirements:

PC Minimum System Requirements*:

Windows® XP/Windows Vista®/Windows® 7 (Updated with the latest Service Packs) with DirectX® 9.0c
2.6 GHz Pentium® IV or equivalent AMD Athlon® processor
128 MB PCIe NVIDIA® GeForce® 6600 GT or ATI Radeon® 9800 PRO video card or better
12 GB available HD space
1 GB RAM (1.5 GB required for Windows Vista®/Windows® 7 users)
DVD-ROM drive
Broadband Internet connection
1024X720 minimum display resolution

Sadly this means that I won't be able to run it - my mobo only has AGP/PCI connections - so my graphics card is a 128mb AGP card.

I stopped paying attention to min req's after I bought my last computer, seems to be up to snuff so far so good, but my computer gaming has reduced significantly too.

Ended up cracking it on my comp. Looks purrrrrrttttyyyy

I just rebuilt my system a month or so ago and it's running like a dream -

2.6ghz dual core processor
2GB ram
Win 7 64bit
22in LG widescreen LCD monitor (HD Native 1920x1080 resolution).

It's just the mobo is older - so upgrading will be an expensive move.

OMG.  This game is like crack to those who fall to it.  I suck at the game but did enjoy watching people play.  When i was in Korea, they played the game like it was a sport.  Cable channels dedicated to starcraft playing game after game after game.

hehehe. let them build up a bit then knock them most of the way down

meanwhile build defenses outside their bas so they can't leave to find more minerals or gas. eventually they are down to drones and can't make anything else.

They can just take off in the pop tent trailer and make you chase them like the road warrior. It may be a diversion and it may not be.  ;D

It's quite different. Everything is faster. Remember how you used to not do 5 minute rushes or it wouldn't count because that was the disconnect time? Well, you couldn't really rush any faster than 4 minutes anyway. Now I can kill a guy that doesn't know what he's doing in 3 minutes. I don't mean just, attack, I mean totally destroy. A person straight out of BW that isn't familiar with the new mechanics I'll take down in 5 minutes.

There's lots of macro now so you have to be jumping all over the place to do this and that. There are also a lot of units that become twice as strong w/ good micro. It really is designed to be an e-sport. The casual player ain't gonna get far against serious gamers but that's also why there's the different leagues. Sadly you're not guaranteed to play people in your same league so every once in a while you'll get a serious trouncing.

hehehe. i always loved the "NO RUSH" games.
generally by the time we were allowed to attack i had the ability to take out 2 opponents at once.

i'm looking fwd to relearning the game.

btw, please tell me the zergling are still completely disposable. my fave was to turn them into cracklings and make a hoard of them. they would still die very quickly, but theyre were so many of them that they took down almost everything they were set upon.

Speedlings are still awesome!  [thumbsup] And now they can morph into banelings (like scourages for ground units). You guys should watch the gameplay vids on youtube and the battle reports on the blizz site. That'll get you to pre-order now. I think you actually have a choice of Amazon or Gamestop to get into the beta right now.

I'll wait for the full release - but I won't buy the "collectors edition" - too much extra crap - just give me the game and let me wage war already!!  [evil]

I've been waiting since 1998!!!

By the way, since you've been playing it, are the system specs realistic or might it run on a slightly older system?

judging from the way the latest World of Warcraft (even less graphic intensive than SC2) ravages my 2 year old machine, i would say you may need an upgrade if your at 5 years or older... :(

i know i'm getting a new machine  for this. i don't want to miss any of the graphical goodness that is SC2
