It appears that the hard economic times has affected the beer industry. Gone is the 12 oz. bottle. This weekend I bought Red Stripe from Jamaica and Paulaner from Germany, and both had 11.2 oz. bottles. WTF? At least Moosehead still has the traditional 12 oz. but for how long I wonder as this trend spreads theroughout the industry. It's probably BP's fault.
U.S. imported Red stripe has been bottled in the 11.2's since the mid to late 80's
it is a result of reaganomics
suck on that joel, look at what your people have done
Really? I could have sworn RS was 12 oz. until recently...first time I noticed it anyway...

Has Sonny sent a pack of hellions over to buzz your house yet for ragging his jeans? You are an agent provocateur after-all
its the fault of the metric system.
11.2 is roughly 1/3 of a liter.
Most beers in Europe come in .5 liter bottles, but for export to the US they try not to overwhelm mericans.
You'd probably be a bit surprised if you looked at a lot of Euro beers (like said above) and the actual fluid amount.
a lot of them are 11,2 oz.
When I lived in Ireland, I never found an equivalent 12oz can/bottle of beer.
all were 11,2 or 1 liter in size.

And what do we think of Session Lager, which is served in 11oz shorties?

I think you misread what I wrote.
I said "all were 11,2oz or 1 liter in size"
meaning that the beer for sale in stores was either 11,2 oz or 1L.
I never found a 12oz can.
I wasn't doing a conversion of volume as 11,2 oz isn't even close to 1L.
hell look at a 20z Mt dew compared to a 1L Mt Dew.

If you re-read your line from a different perspective, it comes across as if you implied 11.2oz = 1L.
That is all.
Carry on.

I bet you'll be paying the same amount for less beer too. >:(
They tried to do this in Australia. Cascade lager was being produced in a 375ml (12oz) bottle and they changed it to a 330ml (11oz) 'trendy' bottle to market it to suckers and charge the same for less beer.
It didn't work, no one was buying it and they changed it back. [drink]
NOTE: I just checked an online conversion litres to US liquid ounces & 375ml is 12 US liquid ounces. I don't know where you get it is a litre? Mebbe I'm wrong. ??? But the internets never lies. ??? ???
