Title: 2008 S2R 1K
Post by: scduc on June 03, 2008, 03:13:12 PM
So I think I will be ready for exhaust, ECU, and open filter in a couple of weeks. (after break in). Question is, is this a plug and play operation if I use the DP set-up? with Termi's? Or is is something that the dealer would be better off installing? I hear a lot of talk about closed loop/ open loop ECU's. How do I tell which one I have? I have been off the whells for 4 years, my 2000 750 Monster came to life after I installed Sil motor exhaust and had my dealer tune the carbs so, I expect my new bike will run much better after the mods.

If your bike is stock it is closed loop.  You will need the dealer or someone with an appropriate scan tool and an exhaust analyzer to set throttle position and CO.  Speak to your dealer and get a price for set up verses set up and installation and then decide.

+1 on what Howie said.

I have the same bike. You will need to have the dealer tune the air/fuel ratio. By the way, the process eleminates the O2 sensor and all of the PIA problems that come with it. ;D

i've just fitted a full Spark set rather than Termi's. i think the 2 cans on the one side looks shit. much better having one on each side of the seat, lifting them high and then u can see the rear wheel floating on the single swing arm. did a tail cut also fitting the one from competition werkes. getting rid of the cat gained 2hp - now sitting at 88bhp but with standard ecu and filter. needs both replaced eventually and add a PCIII. sound from the Spark setup is perfect -not enough to get taken off the road but enough to annoy the neighbours

according to the local dealership, mine has some programmable settings for tuning the exhaust.

That part # shows that it is for the 800, my parts guy said that the 800' and 1k's have different diameter pipes. Is this true?
