Don't know if anyone has seen the preview for this yet. Has a chase scene with Cruise on a hyper.

Looks like he can actually ride.
In before the "squid" comments
Like him or not, Tom Cruise can actually ride. He has a tricked out 999R and a D16RR. Someone posted a video of him a long time ago flogging the 999 on the track. [thumbsup]
He's still not tall enough to plant both feet. [cheeky]

HEY!!
I am short 5' 7" and ride pretty damn well, and my feet DO touch on a 1098 so SUCK IT!!!!
Hypers are tall though. I can barely touch both feet ona hyper (5'8").
ok why no helmets, gear, etc? guess i have to watch the movie... but bad example for the kids [bang]

Definitely not ATGATT
Since when is Holywierd ever a good example for the kids?
I know the guy that built the stunt bikes ;)
They HAVE to do all the stunts bare, as the time line in a movie is too fast paced for helmet on and helmet off..
BTW, the jump on the bike is NOT CGI.. Thats Legit.
No helmet, not gloves.. Not fun
BTW< just watched the Middle video.. Thats Stunt Legend Jimmy Roberts. We built that bike.. heheh and his Hyper STreetbike. He also did TF2 on our stuff and Yes Man, and countless others.. Total Rockstar that guy!
The 20 minute wheelie in Yes Man was awesome. :)

He is a rockstar but very down to earth, has a pretty slick Ford GT too. Met him out in Cali a months or two ago, very cool guy.
Wrong guy....
Thats Tom Mc Comas... another well known stunt guy, but not THAT stunt guy.. .lol

What role has he played that he has set a good example for the kids?
1. Flips out, shoots up Nat'l Guard troops with an M-60
2. Runs a brothel while his parents are out of town
3. No gear, rides his moto dangerously through traffic & runs red light. Arrogance results in death of his RIO.
4. Kidnaps brother & tries to extort money from hospital
etc...
I will still pay to see the movie.
Jebus Cameron Diaz hot [drool]

you talking about the same video where he took that dreadlocked douche from MTV out and advised him to pull the padding out of the helmet for to fit him with his dreads before they went out on track and he crashed?

Just saw that movie the other day. At the beginning of the ride some audio dude decided to dub in the exhaust for a Japanese 4 cylinder

As a director I'll put in my input on this: Yes it sets a HORRIBLE example, but when you put a helmet (and gear) on an actor/character it turns them into someone else for the audience. The only movie I can think of with a character in full gear and helmet is Uma Thurman in KILL BILL, but at that point if I remember correctly she's being sneaky or evil or something of that nature. In any case we often don't want to change the character in the mind of the audience so we keep helmets off (and we even complain about sunglasses but that's more minor).
Let alone every one who sees it will say "Hey, they got a stunt double, that's why he/she's wearing a helmet!"
Oh yeah, Batman in Dark Knight wears a helmet, but I don't think it's DOT nor Snell ;-) Was Bale wearing a helmet on the MV Agusta in that movie? I can't remember.

yes he was.

BTW, Bale rides too... We had him at Streets Of Willow last fall... Super cool guy...
For SURE a helmet ruins it.. Plus the time to put it on, take it off, strap it, etc...
ruins the flow

Whats wrong with that photo?
I just saw a commercial of Tom and Cameron on the Hyper riding through the ESPN studios. It's funny, and yes, it sounds like a Hyper.
Keep your eyes peeled on that channel.
How about what's wrong with these photos?

I give up, whats wrong? He's too short to reach the ground?
it's less hyper and more of an Aprilia SXV

The 2 photos are of an Aprilia Dosoduro, tweaked to look like a Hyper.
(edit...swingarm says SXV like Paper said) The original photo you asked about does appear to be an actual Hyper.
Why would they make a aprilia look like a hyper and not just start out with a hyper????

Because a Hyper probably doesn't like doing the stunts like an SXV (i.e. real motard) does.

stock SXV is 280lbs wet
Hyper is 395 dry
SXV's make jumping onto flatbeds easier

You win a poptart! Simply go to the nearest market, find the flavor of your choice and give the cashier $10 for S & H and they're yours, free!
you know that sucks. can't believe they did that. why not just mod the shit out of a hyper. or why not just use the Aprilia as an Aprilia. I know, marketing, sponsors, directors.. blah blah.. but now that I've seen what they are doing... much less interested in seeing the movie.
^^
Really? It's pretty standard practice to mod stunt vehicles so they can do one thing and still look like something else.

Like making Tom Cruise appear both cool and tall, when he's neither? :D
The problem with the Duc is the location of the sump and the header.. The huge jump is NOT CGI, and casing a landing two up at 65mph is a no go.
Gotta do the best you can with what you got buddy!
