CHECK PAGE 2 FOR COMPLETED PICS!
Hey guys,
I bought an S4Rt a few weeks ago and it came with the full termi kit but I wanted something a little different so I decided to build a 2 into 1 using the Termi header and a Tri-oval can with a custom midpipe.
Here are a few pics of the Tri-oval can mounted on the bike. The next step is to fab up the mid pipe.
What do you guys think of the can and where I have it mounted? I can move if a little farther back if need be.

nice and clean. I approve ;D
It's hard to see exactly with the side covers on but I'd try to run the can parallel with the bottom frame tube, it's looks close but I can't tell exactly from the pics.
Looks pretty neat Mash.
Kinda like my Akro pipe minus the end cap, since this I have also choped 75mm from the can to bring it closer to the
end of the bike.

I love the 2 into 1 set up! I would love to do that to mine!!
My $.02, I would move the can back a bit further so that the end of the can is even with the seat cowl. That would leave the ends of the exhaust sticking out just past the cowl and put it somewhere between the cowl and the beer tray.
Looks really damn good though, so far!!
I think it can be done in a different way
When mount it this way the gap between tyre and seat is gone
That makes the bike look a lot lower
And it looks like you lost the left can (because it's the normal place for high cans)
The bike is [thumbsup] [thumbsup] [thumbsup] [thumbsup] , Nicest color combo ever on a Monster
Hi Mattyvas. I am planning to use the Akrapovic evo system too. I notice in your very clear picture that the O2 sensor is in place. Would you care to share how you went about with tuning the bike? (PC3, Fatduc, DP ECU...)
Looks good! I like the ?tri-oval? shape and the two different sized outlets. The shape kind of goes with the Monster lines. The inlet side looks finished like an outlet with the rolled edge.
Easy.....
1. Go ahead. Just a little further back and with black mounting brackets.
2. YouTube
3. Build me one

1. I have been giving that a lot of consideration and I think I am going to move the can a little farther rearward.
2. There will definately be a video posted on youtube when it's complete. Did you see the video of my last custom 2 into 1 on the S2R1K?
3. Funny you should mention that. I will be working with the guy I bought the endcan from to make a full system and it will be available. It will be available with a bunch of different options for the endcan including tri-oval, oval, round, etc.

1. It doesn't
have to be in a different position, IMO, but the strap needs to be farther from the center of the can.
2. I'm pretty sure I did, but I wouldn't mind a reminder.
3. If it comes to that - I'd like a fat round (bass over scream), little longer in both ends, single outlet, removable db-killer, 2-1 piece not very close to my heel. I have a nice Spark midpipe, so for me a full system isn't a requirement.
We'll see if you can beat Mark's MonoBooms ;)
i like the exhaust lower than that. the can should be parallel with the horizontal frame tube (from about the brake fluid res. up toward the seat

It does look like it's still in place and from that side it is but the other end is blanked off.
Bike does have a DP ECU in it. This is how the bike came to me, well with System/ECU/Air Box.
The rest of the mods/add-ons have been done by me.
I liked the smaller diameter can you used on the S2R. that can, shortened to the end of the cowl=perfection. I'm sure this wil turn out great though if you're doing it.
A pic for those that don't know what the old one looks like.

That was in the mock up stage. It wasn't even welded together yet! Lol
I agree that it should have been a little shorter. If I still had the bike I'm sure I would have shortened it by now.
Here's the video of that exhaust in case some of you missed it.

100% Loved the one on your S2R
90% love the new one :)
Cheers,
Adam
Here are a few pics with the exhaust moved a little further back.
I'm having a hard time deciding which way I like it better. I guess when I start the mock up process for the midpipe I'll see which way it looks better then.
What do you guys think?

Not like my opinion matters all that much since it is your bike but I love that look much better.
I strongly think that's the right position.
Make sure the s-pipes are a distinct S. The Termi S4R s-pipes are too straight/flat, IMO.

I agree but the problem is if it's in the farther back position the midpipe will be a little flatter like the Termi midpipe. Not quite as flat but still not really an "s". If I add the distinct "s" in the pipe it will make the pipe longer and ruin the look of having the can in the rearward position.
looks just right now, mock up that midpipe and post some more pitchers [thumbsup]

Yeah, but that visual issue can be avoided by "dividing" the pipe into sections - an extra bend, several welded sections, a detour under the frame, heat shields, different colors, .....
or let the upper/rear part of the s follow the wheel bend? As in a long curve.
Position looks fine.
IMO: It would look killer if you could mount it higher closing the gap between the can and the frame...
But as you already mounted your (old) signal set up, you would have to probably relocate the seat lock, and mounting the can directly to the frame tube, it would be a lot of work...again...
Also
What are your plans for the cross-over/collector?
Hiding the cross-over/collector under the bike would look clean.

Thats the plan! [thumbsup]
how hard would it be to take the can high on the other side of the bike?
would better fit with the key position.
Ok guys, the midpipe is getting welded up today so I'll try and have some pics tonight or tomorrow.
Stay tuned....

I'll be here [moto]
Ok guys, here is the new custom exhaust complete. Well almost, I still need to clean it up a little and get the final CF guard made up.
I'll get a video and sound for you guys in the next few days. It sounds sick!!! [thumbsup]
What do you think?

When I first saw it I wasn't sure. Now that you have it almost finished I am liking it a lot more. Looks really good. I can't wait to hear it in a video.
Looks good.
Any plans for the hanger. Kinda sticks out...color wise. CF will go nice.
[clap]
looks great ! don't mean to rain on the parade, but can you fit your key in the seat release?

Thanks.
The hanger looks considerably better in person. It was media blasted to give it a titanium look to match the ends on the can. It's just hard to see in the photos.

Yes no issues with the seat release.
That exhaust looks fly!
