Going to sit outside on my rocking chair and drink me a beer in total peace and darkness. What do you guys do when the power goes out? If the kids were asleep I would be doing something completely different [evil]
I start the generator.
Enjoy that cold beer while it lasts!!
+1 on the generator!
How long has it been out? When do they expect it to come back?
Have fun sleeping tonight in that South Florida heat and humidity
(yes, I am a total wimp when it comes to temperature while sleeping. Even though we have central air, I still have a window unit in our bedroom which is upstairs)
However, I was just at my parents house about a month ago and we had no power all weekend.
There is something about not having any electricity that is calming. I can't quite pinpoint it, but I agree with your assessment it can be very nice.
My Dad collects antique oil lanterns, so we sat on our screened in porch and played hearts, smoked cigars, and drank bourbon and/or wine.
Then my Dad complained about the fact that he once again is pissed he didn't buy a generator the passed 35 times the power has gone out; I think that is the funniest thing.
Only downside is they have well water, so no water at all, which makes flushing toilets a bit of an issue.
Have fun Carlos [thumbsup]
Just got off the phone with Mario and let him in on the interworkings of the Florida Crew; he knew nothing of it.

My parents once went without power for 5 days in negative degree weather a few years ago!
Again........my Dad pregnant doged about a generator.
First purchase when I own a home not in an area with buried lines, next to the police station, etc etc.
is
a generator to keep certain things powered
then to please the masses..........
I'll buy a chainsaw [thumbsup]
It's supposed to be back up in about an hour or 2, but that's just a guesstimate. We have 2 trucks from the power company sitting out here. I could get a generator, but the truth is the power rarely goes out here. It also gives me a chance to socialize with the neighbors.
Boooooooo. Power is back up
damn... looters

I think a generator would be a good investment based on your location and proximity to hurricanes.

I went 44 hours in '78 when the Mid West Blizzard came roaring through.
The snow drifted even w, the tops of the fence posts along the road to my place.
The temperture in the main part of the house got down in the low 40s.
We stayed in a room w, a woodburning stove.
It sucked bad 'cause the power came on for about 45 minutes and then went off again for another 6 hours.
We couldn't get out if we wanted to because of the depth of the snow and ....where would we go ?
It was really scary .
The National Guard had to be called in w, heavy equipment to open up some of the main roads that were drifted shut in Western ,Ohio.
Our road was opened with a Bull Dozer.

My parents have talked about that blizzard; they live in South Bend, Indiana.
I have seen the pictures from the house during that blizzard; I grew up in the house and they still live in it today when they are in town.
It is shocking and amazing to see how much snow was dumped on them based on the pictures and focal points that still exist today.
Wow.........that's all I got about that.
Damn Ricans pay your bill ;D

Dammit I'm the only smuck who has not bought a track bike yet. [bang] Congrats Carlos I believe it has some cool HH stickers on it ;D
Hurricanes rarely knockout the power in my neighborhood.

I don't have one either, but then again, I haven't ever done a track day.
Was thinking about buying an SV650 for my first track day and subsequent ones, but the wife got her bike instead.
Right now I would pay good money to be staring at a snow drift with no power. The forecast here in North TX is 102-104 for all of this week and next weekend. [bang] Not good 999 riding weather. I think it will stay parked until winter. It morphs from an Italian motorcycle to a rolling Italian BBQ pit in this kinda heat. :P
good lord you'd have heat stroke as soon as you threw on some pants, jacket and helmet!
Look at the bright side, ya go for a ride and its like having a temporary vasectomy!
:-)

Without the 10mg of Valium and vicodins
Don't need one of those. There's already a state law preventing me from ever reproducing. The legislature determined one of me was enough for the whole state of Texas. [laugh] I just keep a bottle of Jack Daniels BBQ sauce in my jacket pocket on hot 999 rides... just in case of emergency or if I happen to burst into flames! ;D

It might as well be snowing here.
I sure can't ride in the heat , I take some kind of medication that makes me heat intolerant.
Probably blood pressure meds.
Dolph [bang]
Yeah, my wife and step son are seriously heat intolerant. He obviously got it from his Mom. His Dad has no problems nor do I. Gotta be genetic. Hell I'm an old mid 50s+ fart and I'm ten times more heat tolerant than my wife or step son. Not a good genetic trait to have in fry your ass in the summer heat of Texas! [bang] Pisses me off that he has a built in excuse not to help with the yardwork!! [laugh]
