Title: No more 2 strokes Post by: DarkMonster620 on August 14, 2010, 01:43:50 PM The Grand Prix Commission, in a meeting held on August 14 in Brno (Czech Republic), unanimously decided on a number of issues, ... "from 2012 the 125cc class will be replaced by Moto3, this has been approved in principle by all the members. The MSMA gave a majority approval and the rest of the members – the FIM, IRTA, and Dorna – have all approved. The basic concept is a 250cc, 4-stroke, one-cylinder engine with a maximum bore of 81mm. The aim is to make this category more competitive and cheaper. Our idea now is to make it a multi-engine category and not a single-engine class. Many things are still to be discussed but it is to be implemented for the 2012 season."
81 is the number... Title: Re: No more 2 strokes Post by: ducpainter on August 14, 2010, 01:54:49 PM It wasn't broke...

Where were you guys when they stopped making two strokes for the US market? Also, I am bitter. And if I can't have a two stroke, nobody can [evil] Title: Re: No more 2 strokes Post by: desmoquattro on August 15, 2010, 05:35:47 AM http://www.motogp.com/en/news/2010/Grand+Prix+Commission+announce+rule+amendments+in+Brno (http://www.motogp.com/en/news/2010/Grand+Prix+Commission+announce+rule+amendments+in+Brno)

Title: Re: No more 2 strokes Post by: ducatiz on August 16, 2010, 10:33:56 AM It was only a matter of time -- so many countries have banned 2 strokes for road that the market is just not there. I don't think anything over 50cc is legal in the US anywhere, and California even that is gone.

Title: Re: No more 2 strokes Post by: Bill in OKC on August 27, 2010, 11:10:23 PM Moto2 gave me the motivation to get my own 2 stroke. A 1975 550 Suzuki needing some TLC. I just got the crank back today from Bill Bune up in MN. Freshly rebuilt, this 2 stroke will be on the road for years. Thanks Moto2!
