I did some work from my home office this morning.
I finished up and left the house at about 10am to jump in the car and head up to Erie to see some customers.
I am greeted with the following:

Some jerkoff decided to hurl a brick at the back window of my car.
Lovely.
Glass is toast, obviously. There's also some paint damage.
It's a make the beast with two backsing mess and I'm pissed.
I don't know anyone down here and have no enemies. This was random.
So now I'll be out $250 for my comp deductable.
I'm pretty sure I'll never figure out who did this, short of catching them doing this a second time.
If I do
Things are gonna get make the beast with two backsin ugly.
>:(
It looks like you are parked on a brick road/driveway? Maybe they got pissed. ;)
Pissed about what?
The whole street is brick. I've parked in this spot for the last year.
Plenty of room for other cars here too.

[laugh]
I see.
I think it's time to move.
maybe someone went by with really sticky tires on and it got kicked up
or maybe a tree picked it up as it was growing...
or maybe you pissed off someone who wants to challenge you to a deal-off
What if it came up through the car from the street? Maybe that is the exit wound!
Frisky gophers.
I think it's a challenge.
Any possibilities of surveillance cameras?
There will be blood!!!!!
Probably some punk kids who need a severe beating.

That's the first thing my wife said as she's an IT nerd and knows how to do such things.
I just like to get a stick and hit stuff with it ;D
So, yeah, we could do that. And might.

"Hang on, lemme get my tool"

Nice GI60S ref.
GRRRR! That pisses me off to see that. Sorry man. Hope it gets fixed well. I hate it when people screw with your personal shit.
You know, you can hire me as a sniper. Maybe I'll just do that as a thank you for helping me put my bike bits in. I have camo, face paint, and a variety of weaponry, so you don't have to supply me with anything.
You can setup on my roof...
bummer kevin...
i approve of the sniper/surveillance plan by the way.
I'm sure I could help cobble together some remote control guns, hell get some of that fancy facial recognition software and let it do it's own thing. What could go wrong?
That kinda shit really burns my ass !
I can't tell you how many times my Mailbox has been knocked of it's post.
I finally quit putting up a fixed mailbox so when the bastards hit it now the box goes flyin' but usually doesn't get completely obliterated.
It looks like hell but I don't have to keep buying a new mailbox.
Being out in the country I'm a perfect target for the bastards.
It could be the same person or random people over the years.
Sorry to see your situation is much more serious than a bunch of Mailboxes.

Same problem in my area. My neighbor built his mailbox out of old black steel pipe with a big pipe on top of two smaller pipes in the ground. That was the end of the broken mailbox's for him.
You need to make your mailbox look like all your past boxes
except build the new one with 4" pipe and plate steel
;D
that's what I'd do
Itll be the last time it gets hit
Doh!
VF beat me to the punch
you should toss a brick at a neighbor your not to fond off and then say YOU TOO???

haha,...that reminds me.
when i worked in colorado, we had a problem with some punks thinking it was fun to run over our mail box (at work.) after the third time resetting it in a month, we got pissed.
dug a 4 foot deep by 4 foot wide hole, and (if memory serves me) set a 6x4x3/8th inch pipe in reinforced concrete, complete with a bunch of rebar left over from the installation of a 100 foot tall radio tower pad behind the apparatus building. then we slid a smaller diameter 8 foot pipe into that, and attached the mail box.
the hope was that we would find the bumper and license plate of the offenders wrapped around the mail box. failing that, at least we would not have to dig up and replace the post all the time.
there did end up being some new scuffs added to the post, and it got a little bent, but never did find a bumper sitting next to it. and never had to replant the post either.

Why didn't you just dig a bigger hole, cover it up with sticks and leaves. You could have trapped that bastard.
ML, sorry sh*t like this had to happen. When I was in college, my dorm was next to a park. One afternoon, I noticed a softball in the back of my 83 RX-7. Apparently some kids were playing a pickup softball game and the ball went thru the rear quarter-panel window. They all took off. Luckily it was a tiny window, not the back hatch... Still, pissed me the hell off! Money I didn't need to spend...

didnt want to catch the mail carrier. interfering with them is a federal crime i think.. ;)
That sucks Kevin.
Looks like it's time to hire cyrus to keep watch over your car.
Nah
were just gonna move
:D
Wat kind of car was it? Maybe they don't like the brand.. you don't uave glass coverage?
Honda
there's paint damage too
Whatever happened to people being neighborly?
Sorry to hear ML, hope it gets sorted for not too much.
The mailbox thing happened to my parents mailbox on a regular basis. Dad reinforced the mailbox. It wasn't long before he found the better part of the front end of a Ford pickup laying in pieces around the mailbox ~
