Title: moving out of my digs
Post by: badgalbetty on August 29, 2010, 02:03:14 AM
into new digs in a week! I am stoked that I will finally be away from my completely mad roommate who will no longer be able to torment me with her unkind words and selfish actions.I took my landlady out for a thankyou meal last night and we had a wonderful time. I really like my landlady and in the past few months we have shared many meals, laughs and most importantly we have shared life. Her partner, her and I have become good pals and I will miss her but I wont miss the evil pregnant dog room-mate from hell. Anyone got any room-mate horror stories they wanna share?
Have a happy Sunday friends.............
BGB.

Congrats on the new digs and making new friends  [thumbsup]

and of course......

another thread about yourself!  [cheeky]

[laugh] [laugh] [laugh]

My sophomore year of college I lived in a "suite dorm" where my roomie and (we were friends) shared a common bathroom with two other guys.

holy shit, one of them was weird as make the beast with two backs. He was like a quadruple major (Finance, Econ, Math, and Pharmacy....WTF do you do with that degree.....I calculated out his school time......it was like 7-8yrs....pharm alone is 5 at Butler)

The one time I had a roommate, it lasted a month. He met a girl and moved in with her. Paid his part of the rent for the remainder of our year. --- Perfect! Find a roommate like that [thumbsup]

Tell us about the new place :)

IZ is the master of moving.

Haven't you moved like 10 times in 4 years?

when I got to pick my roomies, all was well.  i'm kinda lucky that way.
but way back in college, i had a roomie that did coke lines on my desk and would smoke up the room with his weed.

hope all works out well for you BGB. sounds like you've gone through a lot.  cheers to the future  [beer]

good luck with the move - I'm still unpacking from the one the beginning of this month - I think that's the worst part. The best part is always living with (or without) the people you choose.

Good luck with the move BGB!   Sounds like the timing of it couldn't come any sooner!  But glad you found a friend in the landlady out of it.

Only had a few roommates here and there.  Mostly were girlfriends going through a relationship transition.  At one point, my dad called my place "the house of wayward women".     [roll]     [laugh]

First time living with an s/o.   That's been interesting!  Good thing Randy is a patient man.   [thumbsup]

Thank you all for wises of good luck! I am gonna be sad to lose the landlady as a landlady but happy that the house I am moving into is much more serene. The man that owns the house is a pretty good guy and he rides motorbikes as well.I move on Saturday morning after I get back from getting my hair done. Its gonna be an awesome day......cool hair, new digs and no mental roomies. What could possibly be better?
Maybe a bacon sandwich?
Be well friends

I hate to be the grammar police, but the correct phrasing, at least here in the IE, crack capital of the world, is...

"...after I get my hair DID." as in, "Girl, did you get your hair did?"

Ha....sad, but true.  You must live on the good side of the tracks.  Good luck with the move!

nice that you can take your ex-landlady's friendship as you move on.  no roommate horror stories here but only downside i've experienced is living with people who think the house cleans itself.  i wish.  :P  here's to a happy home!   [beer]

w00t! Congrats on the new place.

But wow, roommate stories? Jeeebus, where to begin...

Freshman year of college my roommate was on the rodeo team. We eventually managed to reach an understanding that no matter how many air fresheners you hang up or how much aromatherapy crap gets pumped into the room, it's NOT okay to NOT wash your boots and chaps after a practice session.

The following summer I moved back to my dad's place. He'd had the place to himself for 5 or 6 months at that point after my mom had moved out. I had to sit him down and explain that when you live with other people besides your wife, the concept of "naked time" does not exist outside of the bathroom.

Had a roommate for a while who liked to throw things at my girlfriend at the time. He also enjoyed putting her shoes/keys/coat/anything left in common areas in the freezer. In retrospect, I should not have objected.

Lived for a while with a guy who supplemented his taxable income by selling weed to local high school kids. Not surprisingly, probably the chillest roomie ever, if a bit unconventional. He had a UNIVAC computer case in his back yard and 8" floppy disc platters scattered all over the house.

Worst roommate ever, tho, was the first one I had after moving to Maine. Couldn't comprehend the concept of anyone else's work schedule. Dude. It's 2AM on a Monday morning. You want to get wasted and play Rock Band at an obscene volume, fine, just don't do it here. I have to be at work in 4 hours and change. "But dude... it's Saturday night..." No, it's not genius. It's Sunday night/Monday morning. And if you use my winter gloves again without asking they'll find your body when the snow melts. Maybe.

So yeah, BGB, totally feel your pain. Congrats on the new digs!  [beer]

worst roomate I ever had

he was a 40+ y/o Millwright and we were living in an apartment in the butthole of the world Umitilla Oregon

just north of the chemical weapons depot we worked at

he would get sloppy drunk every night of the week

I mean EVERY night

he would close down the local bar then come home and wake me up crying in his Coors

I sought a new place with another apprentice I worked with

he found out about it at work and that night when he woke me up for his nightly crying session

he let me inspect the business end of his .45

as he kicked me out and kept my stuff

our friendship became strained at that point

My friend Michael told me before that my room mate from hell "is like a spoonful of toxic shock". I am so not going to miss her. The first day that I was in the place she had made a mess in the bathroom and I cleaned it up. Politely ,I asked her in future if she could clean up after herself and she went off. She had one of my saucepans in her hand at the time(nice of her to ask if she could use it ) and launched it across the kitchen as she flew into a tirade. She has been thru my room and has stolen some of my meds. You dont run out of a 30 day supply in 22 days............My door has been locked every time I am not in my room since. She has been thru my laundry and has stolen clothes. She borrowed money from me without paying it back and when I finally got my chair out of storage she made a song and dance about how nice it was and how she could not afford something as nice as this was. I asked her if she would like it. She instantly took it from me and for the last 4 months I sit on a lunch pail when I am in front of my computer. I think I have the word Coleman permanently imprinted into my right buttock........
She is a pregnant dog end of story and its AMF.......... Adios Mother Fuka in a few short hours...............
I hope that you all have a nice person to live with, it makes life a lot nicer! [thumbsup]

I am in my new place...........tonight has been awesome. Watched AMA and saw our guy get 10th which was crap. I am supporting Steve Rapp on the Speedymoto/Latus Ducati 848.Then it was some 2010 IOM TT . I was there in 2007 so this was pretty awesome to see. I am so loving this new place- clean comfortable , and no mental room mates. My landlord took me out for food earlier too which was great. This is so cool being here! wahooooooooooo!! What a great first night in new digs!
Sleep well friends!

Damn BGB.  I don't know how long you had to put up with that crap, but you probably should have moved out sooner.  Congrats on moving on and finding a happy place.  [thumbsup]
