Saw a post about the June demo day, but not one for Oct. I really shouldn't...but I think I'm gonna. [evil]

Edit: Fixed it so you can see the pretty picture.

HHMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM.

Don't get any ideas Lars.  You need a SD in the garage more than anything.   ;D

SD is as described, RETARDED.

I am in no way mature enough to own SD.

I don't know any one, nor have met anyone mature enough to own SD.

Why you are not in the pokey right now is beyond me.

I would be able to exercise more restraint on a turbo busa with  2-stage nitrous.

A turbo busa with 2- stage squeeze would make more sense.

I cannot have SD, it is bad.

Legal consultation should be required when looking at SD.

A certain lawyer is opening a 2nd office because an SD is nearby.

Same lawyer will not get out and ride certainly because he may get infected by Superduculous.

Performance awards with all the trimmings would be certain.

You haven't been caught yet.

SD is bad.

I've got a route to Harpers Ferry if people are interested. It's mostly the same as the one out to Shepherdston.

From Harpers Ferry on I'm only familiar with the road that goes through Summit Point. So it's either that or someone else would need to lead.

+1 but with a :) since most people are off on Fridays I get more work done.

Julie, I currently don't work on Wednesdays, so if you can provide a vehicle I can get you there (my wife needs the car).

If that doesn't work out, I can do next Wednesday: drive the car out there and ride/drive back.

Doesn't seem as if one has gelled... But Massimo (ReginaDiCuori) said he was going out as is Ducati Culture. Perhaps gents, you could *ahem* actually organize.

I'll be thinking of you... while I'm at a private party at Stone Brewing outside San Diego.. really I will.  ;)

On topic, get a ride on the Multi 1200 if you can. Seeing it's the new hottness it might be tough.. but it's cool. Be sure you figure out how to change the maps while on the move - it's a neat trick to get such different feelings out of the same bike via a couple button presses.

I want to go, but if I lead it'll have 1 fun bit and lots of boring. What time do people want to head out?
I want to check out the Multi's active suspension. That sounds kinda dirty now that I read it.

Everybody follow me!  [moto]

Let's meet at the Starbucks in Potomac (Falls Rd and River Rd, near the Strosniders) on Saturday at 10.

The weather will be good this weekend so there is absolutely NO excuse not to go out riding.

Google maps show a distance of 78 miles and a time of 2:13.

I also thought of a bit longer but more interesting route (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=River+Rd&daddr=39.1768671,-77.3584361+to:39.2519098,-77.3464516+to:39.3048,-77.36667+to:39.29939,-77.40776+to:Mountville+Rd+to:39.24935,-77.78006+to:39.27539,-77.90751+to:663+N+Loudoun+St,+Winchester,+VA+22601-4965+(Duc+Pond+Motosports)&hl=en&geocode=FQRbUwIdiudl-w%3BFaPKVQIdnJpj-yndNmoAcy-2iTEoQJaRajXIZw%3BFcXvVgIdbclj-ylj1XuzWyi2iTG1mSSK0FEE1g%3BFWC-VwIdcnpj-yk_nD4t8NfJiTFLQMf6QpfnlA%3BFT6pVwId8Nli-yk5MkMddNjJiTEPWPkYBN9Wjg%3BFUyQWAIdpPpg-w%3BFcblVgIdpCtd-ylZpd9LgwS2iTEsgZFPIGRHhw%3BFX5LVwIdyjlb-ymZLe3dtwC2iTECHpJRw4YaXQ%3BFXoUVgIdGllX-yGmzz5nLigfOinFI9YbNO61iTEnaRKC-XzUAw&gl=us&mra=dvme&mrcr=0&mrsp=3&sz=12&via=1,2,3,4,6,7&sll=39.286217,-77.349243&sspn=0.121704,0.220757&ie=UTF8&ll=39.304816,-77.449493&spn=0.121672,0.220757&z=12). This one takes 1/2 hour longer but goes along Bucklodge, Old Houndred, Thurston, and Lily Pons. [evil]

In both cases we'll stop at the Shell right outside Jefferson, MD and then we hit 340 almost until Harpers Ferry. Then it's Chestnut Hill, to RT9 to Charlestown to Summit Point and finally Winchester.

If we take the "fun" route then I would suggest meeting at 9:30 so we can get going sooner. As for the return route I plan most of the same unless we're tired and we want to take the shortest route.

Is anyone else coming from the south?  I will be taking a route up 610 around the backside of Quantico base, then just north of Warrenton, then up the 17 if anyone else wants to ride along.  It's about a 2 hr trip and 76 miles.

You could pick up some parts from my motofest map as well. Gathland pass is just north of your route and is a decept bit of road.

Though I'm on travel for a good cause... I really like going to this event. Soome say 'Hi' to Donnie for me.

Hit Gathland last week on the way to the Italian Bike Fest and loved it [thumbsup].

Ideally I would do Gapland -> Trego -> Chestnut Grove -> Harpers Ferry. That's 3 & 1/2 hours tho, so I'm concerned that by the time we get to Ducpond we'll be too tired to do any demoing.

Or too late to get a slot on anything...

If it's just years past they have a sign up sheet with time slots. At the appointed times they start calling names. Obviously the later you arrive, the less open slots there are. But, a couple years back, when the 848 was the new hotness, I lucked into a slot, as the person who signed up, was not in the lot at the designated time. As the day crept on, there were more no-shows... but you don't want to count on that.

I don't care if I'm surrounded by hot chicks ushering me to ride a DesmoSedici, for me it'll still be rest, food, massage ;)

That's it, departure time just rolled back to 7!  I'm riding at least one cool bike before I roll out of beautiful downtown Winchester!  Better have coffee ready sucka!

For leaving from River/Falls Rd, still on for leaving the start at 9:30/10:00AM? I'm more for the ride myself, so if I can't ride a demo, meh. Although I suddenly find myself with an empty spot in the garage...

Meet at 9:30, leave as soon as everyone gets there (no later than 10). [leo]

There's a Starbucks for you and a gas station for your bike. [coffee]

As for the empty spot, if Ducpond can't take care of it, craigslist certainly will! [drool]

I plan to leave out the house by 8am or sooner  Those slots fill quickly.  So I want to be there by 10a I may have a pack of 3-5 it all up in the air.  Anyone in the dc area wants to tag along feel free. I would love to roll with you guys but I think the leave time is too late. If we meet at 8am I am there.  Last year I think I demo at least 3 bikes minumum.

I really don't feel like getting out that early, it's cold and I'm lazy ;)

I rather stay warm and miss a few bikes. Routes are posted if you, or anyone, wants to leave at a different time.

Wow, I went today and got to ride the Streetfighter with termis, Monster 1100 with termis, Hyper 796, MV Brutale with the cannonball kit (+30 hp), and the Mulitstrada.  I liked the Streetfighter a lot and it felt like I was ready to buy one when I was done.  It is a lot faster than any air cooled Monster will ever be.  The Monster 1100 felt great because it was most similar to my current bike.  I felt really comfortable when going quickly.  The Hyper 796 was an OK bike, but I've never really warmed up to the upright riding postion and it felt down right boring compared to the previous two bikes.

The MV Brutale 1099RR Cannonball was amazing.  It was insanely fast, crazy loud, and easy to ride at the same time.  It was on another planet compared to any other bike there.  It felt so illegal even when I was in a line of riders riding at the same speeds.  I was buzzing for a while after the ride.  It was the best 4-cylinder experience I've ever had and I've ridden a 2010 MV F4 and 2 of the current Japanese liter bikes.  You owe to yourself to ride it.

that new 990r brutale, has got to be the most overpriced, useless for commuting, useless for touring bike that there is, incredibly nimble, fast and smooth and completely and totally too much money for a "fun bike" only.

very dangerous bike to test ride, since afterwards you are thinking of way too many ways to afford the payments on it even though its not a good idea to get one. ;D

Plenty of nice roads out there, but the track will always be the best place to learn how to lean. Especially one like Shenandoah at Summit Point, hint, hint! ;)

Even though I rode up there solo...(no one down here in Stafford/Fredericksburg area) It was nice to see alot of other Monsters in one place.
Lots of nice people up there and got to talk to my old suspension guy who worked for MSP Cycle in Atlanta (who now works for MV Agusta..and was their rep)  Only got one ride on the Hyper 1100, but helped me make my decision on my next addition to the garage (Aprilia Dorsoduro 750).

Not to whore it out, but one of the pics I got going through the farmlands back to Stafford.  My visor and front end was covered in the little black bugs.

Fun ride. Let's do it again real soon, but with less traffic next time. Hope you all got to ride some nice rides at Duc Pond. I peeled off and headed for home outside Summit Point. I'm afraid I rode a little hooliganistically on River Rd. 10 below the limit? Really?!

Edit -- Duh. "Silver black phantom bike." Yes, I saw you.

I hope you were careful, or lucky.  I saw some new (to me) speed cameras on River and also on 28.   [bang]

Thanks, you too. I think the only camera I passed was the one in Potomac, and I was doing the speed limit for that 5 seconds. Find out soon enough.

now...if he has done other work and just hasn't put the details up....that may be another story entirely...

and I remember Chris's Pongo with big stick that was a 966 putting out some serious #'s...
