Title: Picked up more parts at Tocino's today! I'm in LOVE!!!
Post by: Meerkat on September 30, 2010, 03:42:39 PM
Bought Tocino's bike tonight. Here's pics of the pile of change I paid him and what I got for it.

I like the guy and all, just think the weather helped him rip me off. ;D

Love the new ride!!!! $500 bucks to the DMV and I'm legal now. Well, except for this whole more power equals speeding thing.... [evil]

Pics to prove it's at my place:

Since I got home from the DMV, I debaffled the Leo Vince pipe, slapped on the cowl and stole the faux-zoma mirrors from the 620 (Shhhh, don't tell her; she'll be pissed!)

edit: I'll take some proper pictures tomorrow during the daylight.

I'm a little torn. The suspension isn't set up for me so it's a little soft (since Tocino weighs 12 lbs and I weigh 1200 ;D). Who are we kidding? Hell yeah, I'm taking it!  [evil]

Anybody want to play suspension guru? I printed the suspension manifesto out of the FAQ's, but don't have the the tools and such to do it. Like that spanner wrench for the rear shock...it's so soft I feel like I'm floating down the road on a lazyboy like a harley rider.

You'll most likely be looking at getting the forks re-sprung, so keep that in mind.  Not sure what weight range the spring on the rear shock is quoted for...

That's what winter is for. I can limp along soft for now....hmmm. that sounds bad depending on the context.

If the spanner wrench is the same used to rotate the hub I can bring one tomorrow. If the forks are adjustable, then you can just increase pre-load and rebound, if not then just sit a bit further back  ;D

The spring on my 750 is compressed all the way to the max. Come winter I'll get one from racetech. Maybe we could turn this into a group thing.

Of course there will be those who actually work on the bikes and those who will just sit around and drink beer ;)

As if I know ???

The forks are adjustable and I have the stock settings from the owner's manual. I may run down and play around with it after I eat some dinner.

Everyone needs a little immoral support every now and then.

Have to take the bars off to get to all the fork adjuster bits, so I stole the speedy moto frame sliders from the 620. Poor 620.

nice looking bike, but put the baffles back in, was riding a 796 today with termi slipons without baffles way too obnoxious and i actually like the sound of termi but this was rediculous., no wonder states are passing laws against it.   [laugh]

Two problems with leaving the baffles in:
1) How will 696rider know I'm home if he doesn't hear me as I burn down 4th St NW? ;D
2) Quiet pipes interfere with my plan to decrease the number of cages on the road by setting off their alarms every chance I get. [evil]

Thanks, I don't think it's as loud as the termis on my 620, but the engine braking snap, crackle, pop is beautiful! You should come out and ride with us this morning.

The Howitzer freaked me out yesterday when it fired a shot as we went under the railway bridge on the way back! For a moment I thought someone's engine had exploded!  :o ???

So my friend Jen (rides a gsxr) saw the s2r for the first time today and asked me to fire it up so she could hear the leo vince pipes. The following conversation ensued:

Jen: "What's that noise?"
Me: That's the clutch.
Jen: Did you take it to get it looked at yet?
Me: [laugh] [laugh] [laugh] [laugh] [laugh] That's the sound of the clutch on a real [moto].

Or die trying!! I'm planning to take the total control course in the spring and a couple track days as well. Hopefully then my sphincter will be stronger in the corners. My goal in life is to get a knee on harwood road.

Don't worry about the whole knee thing, as that is best left for the track.  Just get to where you're comfortable moving your body around on the bike, from side to side.  You'll be surprised at what you can get the thing to do once you get the suspension set up for you, and start shifting your weight around on it.

I really was just kidding about a knee on the street. That curve with the 10 mph sign freaks me out mentally though I really need to work on some confidence going through it. There was another really bad one for me on Paul's ride this weekend.

With my knee back peddling the way it's been... a toddler's getting to be faster.  >:( Back to the doc on Friday... something's not right.

On topic... so now that you have a SSS bike, you know you need new tools - right? New rear stand, eccentric hub spanner, flux capacitor calibrator and a blinker fluid mixture tester.

Good luck with the knee! I hope you get lucky and have a cute physical therapist to torture you. It always makes it a little more tolerable when they make you cry if you like looking at them. ;D

Tocino threw in a pitbull rear stand as part of the deal. I'll have to snag a spanner wrench and that big ass socket for the axle nut from somewhere. I'm gonna hold off until the digital flux capacitor calibrator and high-resolution blinker fluid mixture tester come out. If I'm really lucky, I'll find a Battery-powered Ultra Long Life Super High Intensity Transformation detector. You don't happen to have a lead on one do you?

Man those guys are good! Doesn't look like they have the flux capacitor calibrator or a blinker fluid mixture tester, but they have good prices on replacement flux capacitors and high-quality blinker fluid. While you're laid up with your gimp knee, you want to help me mod their car-to-tank kit to run on the s2r? I think a DucTank would be cool as hell! And my inner vegetarian wants the salad shooting spinning rims!!

Sounds like they'll make the 620 as fast as the s2r!  [laugh]

Of course, for that cost I could spend 2 days the superbike camp and learn to turn, brake and ride with the rims I have. That said, those would look pretty sick on my bike. Damn, I need to sell my beater jeep.

It's not at all about how they look.  All the rotational weight lost with these wheels has a simply staggering effect on how the bike accelerates, brakes and turns in.  You have to experience it to understand.
