Title: The 2011 Ducati model update cheat sheet Post by: Travman on October 05, 2010, 04:48:10 PM Here is a summary of all the changes to the models for 2011. http://hellforleathermagazine.com/2010/10/the-2011-ducati-model-update-cheat-sheet/ (http://hellforleathermagazine.com/2010/10/the-2011-ducati-model-update-cheat-sheet/)
There are no Sport Classics for 2011. I wonder if the plastic tank issue hastened their demise or if they simply ran out of buyers. I felt they deserved some updates. Maybe some tubeless tires, better tanks, upgraded/latest 796 & 1100 engines, and adjustable suspension. I'm digging the Streetfighter S with the red frame (http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4107/5054376737_8e09c64cca_b.jpg) Title: Re: The 2011 Ducati model update cheat sheet Post by: justinrhenry on October 05, 2010, 04:52:03 PM very cool. thanks [thumbsup]

Did I see red wheels on the 848? [bang] Title: Re: The 2011 Ducati model update cheat sheet Post by: IZ on October 05, 2010, 08:12:33 PM I pulled up next to a rider on a blacked out 848 this past weekend, i.e.: logos, etc.
Was that an '11? Title: Re: The 2011 Ducati model update cheat sheet Post by: kopfjäger on October 05, 2010, 08:46:43 PM It was the EVO.

(http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa91/chiflado/SBK_848evo_11S_colors-B_1000x6673-2.jpg) That's it! Beautiful bike! The kid that was on it was riding like a dipsh*t though. It appeared to be his first bike. Still had the paper plate on it. He couldn't corner on it and was attempting to do a wheelie, I think. I wanted to check the bike out some more but I rode away from him after a couple blocks. I can't believe after a fresh remodel that they are going to drop the monster flagship. I think there will be an 848 Streetfighter, Maybe Ducati is still evaluating the pricing and option list for the "S", hopefully forged wheels and more goodies to make the decision tough between the two. We'll see in November! "The biggest, baddest Monster is now the 1100, as the slow selling Ohlins equipped 1100S has been dropped for 2011." Title: Re: The 2011 Ducati model update cheat sheet Post by: danaid on October 06, 2010, 12:27:18 PM Sad, that news is kinda like a mental smack-down to me. I guess it's time to snatch up a left over 1100s ABS for a discounted price.
Title: Re: The 2011 Ducati model update cheat sheet Post by: 696DCRider on October 06, 2010, 01:03:48 PM Looks like they blacked out the handlebar on the new Monsters. Dammit. That was one thing that bothered me.

I guess it's time to snatch up a left over 1100s ABS for a discounted price. well think of it this way from Ducati's perspective. Now they can sell the upgrade kits to new owners and make more money... WAIT... that makes sense ;) Title: Re: The 2011 Ducati model update cheat sheet Post by: Travman on October 06, 2010, 04:12:28 PM You know it didn't specifically say that the M1100S was discontinued, like it did with the Sport Classics. The updated models are all now listed on Ducati's website and the M1100S is still there. So maybe it will still be here for 2011.
Title: Re: The 2011 Ducati model update cheat sheet Post by: Raux on October 06, 2010, 09:06:22 PM Ducatinewstoday reported the 1100S being dropped.
I missed the part of the SC until I saw it was missing from the Ducati website. Title: Re: The 2011 Ducati model update cheat sheet Post by: RC Fan on October 07, 2010, 04:52:52 AM I heard the 1100 was getting a modified frame and a slipper clutch, among other changes.

Maybe some tubeless tires, better tanks, upgraded/latest 796 & 1100 engines, and adjustable suspension. My feeling about the current SC's were special editions of a sort and that they had run their course and will be brought back later with some updated versions. I would be surprised if they didn't offer an SC version of the mid 90s SS. Title: Re: The 2011 Ducati model update cheat sheet Post by: Raux on October 07, 2010, 08:24:33 AM I heard the 1100 was getting a modified frame and a slipper clutch, among other changes. I'm sure the frame is the subframe from the 796 which allows the use of the new grab handles. Title: Re: The 2011 Ducati model update cheat sheet Post by: RC Fan on October 07, 2010, 10:02:12 AM I'm sure the frame is the subframe from the 796 which allows the use of the new grab handles. Could be. I didn't get a whole lot of detail. By the way, your bike came out great! Title: Re: The 2011 Ducati model update cheat sheet Post by: Raux on October 07, 2010, 10:05:16 AM Could be. Title: Re: The 2011 Ducati model update cheat sheet Post by: IdZer0 on October 07, 2010, 10:37:43 PM Not really as the 1100s apparently didn't sell to well.

What do you think the price differential will be? As I posted earlier in the 'what should they have done thread' ... a smaller streetfighter could kill the big Monster. Title: Re: The 2011 Ducati model update cheat sheet Post by: IdZer0 on October 08, 2010, 02:34:13 AM I guess it depends how you look at it.
The way I see it, someone that would not spend 13300€ on a M1100s but would spend 11.300€ on an M1100 still will not spend 13.300+ on an 848SF (except maybe some exceptions). People that will not buy a 1100S maybe will buy a 848SF at about the same price point. The M1100s is way over priced. (at least in Europe) So in the end they're not taking away from the 1100, but rather the 1100S buyers they lost. Granted maybe some 1100 buyers will then opt for the 848SF. (but I don't think Ducati will mind ;D) Title: Re: The 2011 Ducati model update cheat sheet Post by: ungeheuer on October 08, 2010, 02:35:36 AM ... and the 'standard' M1100 offers even less against an 848SF...... a smaller streetfighter could kill the big Monster. Maybe. If the tribe so speaks, then so be it. But I for one would not have chosen an 848SF over M1100s, although I'm apparently part of the minority 8). SF is just too....."edgy" for my liking.... and considering the current Monsters are seemingly too edgy for some of the Older Monster followers... I cant see mass Monster defection to the SF fold anytime soon. The M1100s is way over priced. (at least in Europe) This is its greatest failing, way overpriced in Australia too. Title: Re: The 2011 Ducati model update cheat sheet Post by: Betty on October 08, 2010, 03:17:42 AM SF is just too....."edgy" for my liking.... and considering the current Monsters are seemingly too edgy for some of the Older Monster followers That just simplifies things ... it takes aesthetics out of the value equation [laugh] Unge, do you know what the cost differential is between M1100/M1100S/848 down here? I admit to be short of perspective. Title: Re: The 2011 Ducati model update cheat sheet Post by: ungeheuer on October 08, 2010, 03:45:20 AM Mate, I conveniently forgot the cost of entry pain 8). I dont remember exactly how much, other than too much.
I think M1100s is +AU$2500 over M1100. NFI (appropriately enough ;)) what an 848 costs. Doesnt interest me. |
