I'll need a fork rebuild sooner rather than later. While I have the thing apart, I'm considering anondizing the forks either black or gold. What say ye?

just a different thought, but what about getting them to match the frame with black triples.

I like that idea too... I wonder how hard it would be to match.
If you could find a match, that would be best. If the gold isn't exact it will just look off, black is probably safer.
anodizing to match anything is nearly impossible. I would powdercoat the triples to match the frame and black anodize (or vinyl wrap) the fork tubes.
much more predictable results with black. if you do go gold it WILL NOT MATCH ANY OF YOUR OTHER GOLD, I guarantee it.
black black black!
I vote for black forks on your bike.
Black, but then the headlight bracket needs to be black, and.................... ;)
MARPAT
Hard-ano the forks black or black vinyl wrap them. Black powder coat the fork ends and headlight bracket and powdercoat the triples to match the frame.

funny you'd post this bike. I just got the bike repainted, and I thought about doing a flat black 80's logo against the gloss black tank, mostly because I liked the way it looked on your bike. I wound up going with the aluminum badges mostly because I already had them, but I would have been just as happy with your tank...
With the issues matching teh anondizing, I'd prob just go with black, because tehy both look good anyway, and black is safer, though I'm probably going to do the vinyl wrap first just to see if I will like it...
Actually, both are customer bikes, but glad they could help. :)
I did my forks last year and looked into all my options. I ended up doing hard coat black and glad I did. Still looks great and I get all kinds of compliments on them.
Just make sure you go "hard coat" nor else your black forks will turn purple over time.

how much does it cost to anodize your tubes anyway? I would love to go for gold....

Ducati Omaha did mine several years ago for about $500.

Is that just to anodize, or to tear apart, etc?

I bought it from eBay. The seller was from Thailand, but it's been awhile, and I can't find them

there is no way id make the beast with two backsign pay $500 bones to get my shit anodzied. sorry, i rather front another $500 and just throw down for an ohlins at that point...
I can remove my forks and tear them both down in less than an hour so how much of that is labor/actually anodizing? 300labor/200 anodizing???..... I thought it would be something like $150 for both tubes or something. :P
I'm sure that was for teardown, ano, rebuild
I'm sure that $500 was for a rebuild. I hope so!
My tubes were ano'ed with other parts fir a batch price of $75!!!
A wicked deal! But they only do hardcoat clear or black.

I want to add that dealing with them was not a normal purchase. I dropped my stuff off.... Never got a price quote... But was told it will be reasonable. LOL

The actual plant is in Windham, NH. That's who you have to call. But I don't think they do mail order. No need to mask anything. The thickness added is negligible.
