Someone blasted me on the forums and then PM'ed me telling me im a dick for thinking everyone is out to get me when im on the bike. this was probably a year ago when the same thing happened at teh same place. Except this time i just took the next exit and looped back around.
Some random guy tried to hit me. I properly passed him on his left (he was going 50 i was doing maybe 65) then i maintained my speed and he cuts across behind me then speeds up to line up next to me and cut into me sharply. I was spooked out enough to have slowed down and if it werent for that i would of been hit by him. Not even on the quater panel, dude was using the whole car. He then slowed way the make the beast with two backs down on the highway waiting for me to zip by. I can only assume he wanted to let me pass so he can swipe me again. Then he got fed up with me not passing him sticks his hand out the window and flips me off and merged onto the exit for the brooklyn bridge then as i pass him slowly, ( i wnated to see his face) he calls me a lucky pussy and i just flip him off and move on.
Theres people out there to hurt you on purpose everyday. I'm tired of dealing with assholes on the streets. I just got off the next exit. Not sure what I could of done to him cause i only passed his car once (he had some stupid shit written on his window with white washable markers so I would of noticed)
so there you go... ride safer cause its bullshit out there. [roll]
Should of shotem.. got the plate? Pm me..
Yes, occasionally you do come across someone like that. Glad you got away. Hopefully someone else will take care of him before he gets the chance to hurt someone.

Nah, I was too busy staring through his rear view trying to figure out if he was going to slam on his brakes or not.
Aside from that, theres nothing anyone can really do here in NYC. Ive been in situations where a driver completely ran a stop sign and totaled another person car. Dude had an out of state license with out insurance and the cop let him go and gave him a ticket for no insurance and thats all he could do dispite 2 cars that had to be hauled away on a towtruck. The laws here for motor vehicles are on a completely other level of bullshit here. This starts getting political so theres no much i can say without getting to heated on that.
The point is, theres people out there who are there to hurt you and you need to be smart about what you do.
Here you are:

I consider this to be a fairly healthy attitude to have - the 'riding as if everyone is out to get me' part [thumbsup],.. not the dick part [thumbsdown].
Dude, you have had some serious bad luck over the past year or so. I'm glad you are ok, and I applaud your levelheadedness in what was a very dangerous situation. [clap]
There ARE people like that out there, though. Chances are it wasn't an anti-bike thing per se - guy strikes me as an infantile asshole who was looking to lash out at
anyone... and you just happened to be in the vicinity.
My question at this stage is this: would you have been as restrained if he had been driving a pickup loaded down with
chicken fat waste from a Chinese restaurant?
I've got people with tow trucks and other people that are big and scary to deal with idiots like this.. ride safe heman.. hey, maybe its your screen name giving you the bad juju..
The amount of miles/time and the stuff I've seen on the road, I don't doubt you HM!
Bunch of crazy people out there! [thumbsdown]
Some guy nearly hit me in the Safeway parking lot a couple days ago. He wasn't watching but 20 pedestrians were though as I laid on my horn. He had the nerve to yell at me and circled back by when I parked.
So who blasted you on the forum?
i dont remember. I deleted the PM a long time ago.

I'm based in Australia so, while I do enjoy dumping chicken fat on bikes, the real culprit is probably someone a little closer to home.
Seriously, though, you are having an extended run of bad luck... [beer]

I agree. [thumbsup] I split lanes a bit,and even though it is legal here in California, I have had several intentional swerve in's. I even had an ashtray dumped on me.
That guy was a dick. >:(
In those cases when I run in to someone like that, I make myself feel better by holding my moral superiority high, and reminding myself that they have a crappy home life, ugly kids, and a small penis. [laugh]
Alright i know some of this is getting old... but god damn....
So today i was on the BQE over Hamilton ave. Its a 6 lane section where a few things merge together, but due to construction, 2 of the middle lanes are closed off. 2 go to the left and 2 go to the right. Im on the right lane doing about 60, traffic is moving about 40mph, but i have a clear shot down for about 1/4 mile with no one in the way on my lane (its midnight).
There is a grey jeep on my left and i see him slow down a bit, but im already just a few feet behind him, so i just put my bike on the right side of my lane in case shit happens. All of a sudden, he dives into my lane about a foot from me and im at his quaterpanel by now. I pretty much have no where to go, and im not about to slam on my brakes either becasue theres just random 6x4 steel plates on the floor, ive locked the front end up on those things once and it is shit your pants scary.
Anway, hes stupid close to me at this point and hes just so hell bent on getting into my lane (or it felt like that atleast) and finnaly gives up and goes back into his lane and then he just SLAMS on the brakes and then all of a sudden i blow by him.....then i saw why he was trying to get into my lane....for some reason a blue vw golf stopped in the middle of the highway. I pass both vehicles and all i hear is SCREEEEECCHHHHHH from the jeep and i look in my mirror and there are pretty much barely any cars behind me, I didnt hear a bang, so im sure he stopped in time. And its not like im in the position to slow down and turn my head around. I slowed down to about 30mph to see if any cars would catch up to me, and people did. They passed me and no one would look at me to signal aything so i just gunned it home.
Why did some random car decide to stop in the middle of hte highway? Thats way beyond me.
Damn man. My house is for sale if you want to move to NC. You would have to deal with the occasional sophisticated hillbilly and their jacked up F350, but nothing like what you deal with.

Sounds like you saw him, rode up and stayed in his blind spot. (This is where you should of passed, you knew the lanes were merging. Even if they were not merging to one, the other lane was so people might dart into your lane.) He wanted to get over but lost site of you. All of a sudden he sees you, goes back in his lane to do a sudden stop instead of trying to run you off the road.
Also by you riding in the right side of the lane you may think you are being safer. Really you are saying hey its OK to come into my lane. You should really stay more to the left having more lane presence.
Time for that metrocard..

at no time was i going the same speed he was, i was trying to pass him the whole time. We can disagree on whcih method we think is safer because you cant guarantee someone is going to look in their mirror. Better i have a car width to react and slow down or speed up then to just get nailed instantly.
and yes i took the train today. the only issue was some fat guy took up 2 seats, which isnt an issue at all cause atleat i can stand. :D
I'd try to run you over if I had the chance. :-*
That would mean living in that hell hole you live in...
so not to worry.
You could move dood. ;)
Can't believe I'm actually agreeing with Father Time but I couldn't agree more. How long does it take before you stop smelling the urine?

noone's making you live in that shithole, dude :P
I absolutely love NYC.
but riding a motorcycle in the city would make me hate it within about an hour. That's a choice that seams to have brought you much grief and aggrevation.
same would be true here actually.

On a motorbike? or that MONSTER car you have? lolol
Boston? You're thinking a move from NYC to Boston will get you better drivers? Arguably less chance of a chicken-fat bike wash, but fewer bat-shit insane drivers? Um, no.
The last time I was in Boston it seemed every third car had a big dent.
This might be useful.... [evil]

I hear people arnet as tightassed up in boston. I dont know, ive never been inside the downtown area. just the outskirts and its way nicer than NYC.
Ill maek 3 NOs in the Boston box. ;D lol
Boston is nicer than NY IMO. It's less populated which helps.
Driving in Boston is not nicer than NY.
I have my own theory.
Assume that 10% of people are the kind you've been having encounters with.
There are roughly 8.5 million people in NY...
Boston has roughly 650K.
Do the math and decide where you think the riding will be better.
There is no nice place to ride. The places with nice drivers (i.e. courteous to bikers) have boring roads. The places with nice roads have idjit drivers (i.e. northern cali or colorado (plenty of norcal drivers have relocated there)
around DC you'll get mowed down by a crackhead or a soccer mom. around me, we have soccer moms like egypt had locusts. just lousy with them. if you throw a rock, you'll hit a honda odyssey or a toyota siena. [puke]
until bikers are given more protection under the law and bad drivers are punished more severely, along with more stringent driver education required up front, it ain't going to get better.
You're right.
It sucks riding here.

at least nothing rattled off my bike last time.
Our roads are an acquired taste...
