Well, we've decided to do a "Bike Of the Moment baby" instead of the Monster of the Month which limits the # per year to 12...
The BOMb will rotate every 10 to 14 days and the focus will be on the true riders!
Clean and nicely modded bikes which show a particular flair for design and are more home-built instead of shop-built stuff (kinda odd that I'm typing that, eh?). We'll still showcase full shop built specials (not for any longer then 10-14 days), but with 24+ BOMb's per year...the focus shifts a lot more to the really cool, nicely modded, well loved Monsters that most of us own.
Submissions can be sent to either myself or Juan here on the DMF and we'll try to have our first one up in a week or so. Submissions should include the following:
Several large hi-res pics of your bike after you've cleaned it
A magazine style article (write about you as well as the bike) about the bike, why you bought it, why you love it, and what you've done to it (as well as what's next...)
Also, if anyone has any ideas on how to improve the BOMb.... please send those to me.
Thanks much,
--Stuart
Once mine gets dirty again.....I'm submitting it ;D
Awesome wt:
It will be nice to showcase peoples homebrew more and more,
are you going to do extensive write ups and high res shots?

Yea it should be cool..! wt:
I nominate Juan's M1000 for the first BOMB. Juan, your mods are tastefully done and you've done a great job with the photography to showcase your bike.
^2nd that! Looks great in teh pics, looks awesome in person!
We need a showplace for well worn specimens too :'(
i dig this idea, my only suggestion (which i may get a beat down for) is to emphasize bikes that ARE NOT a bunch of bolt ons.
just my opinion.

That's just it RB... With over twice as many features per year, the focus of bikes won't be 'one bike is better looking than another' but rather a more true cross-section of the bikes that make up the DMF. Feel free to nominate anyone's bike that you enjoy including your own.
that leaves my monstrosity out, mine is definitely not tasteful and plenty dirty. :e:v

Bull-shit. You're bike is a prime candidate! (if you gave it a bath that is... ;) )

I second that. It's one of the most original Monsters I've seen.

Hmmmm..... Interesting. That's an interesting thought.
Can
non-Monsters be the BOMb?!?
discuss....
Well, it is the Ducati Monster forum, I wouldn't expect there to be non duc bikes on here.
I understand that this bike has had a lot of work.. I would nominate this by Cider.
It has gone from this...

IMO, two standards should be mandatory:
The owner needs to be a DMF member
There needs to be something special about the bike

i would like to add:
Needs to be a Ducati. (Not necessarily a monster,IMO , since a few really slick projects have been born from other models)
My reason is because of parts interchangability....like an SS swingarm on a monster, or a Monster tank on an SS. These types of specimens are what creates our unique class. Monsters will still out number other models.

Bolt ons?
Custom job?
It doesn't matter to me: I've seen examples of both that look like shit, and examples of both that look fantastic.
I just like reading their stories and feeling the enthusiasm from the wide variety of riders we have on the forum.

I think that just about sums it up Howie. The percentage of Monster owners here (like 98%) will dictate that the BOMb will be about that same percentage so a 'Ducati only' qualification I don't think is needed.

+1 to that! There are plenty of us that are Ducati owners, but we do not own Monsters. I have seen all kinds of modifications, Franken-Ducs, and everything in between, and that's what makes us each unique. I think keeping it strictly Monster based would shut the door on some otherwise amazing machines.
I love this idea. I've got a lot of good ideas from MotM's and having 2x as many will result in more ideas!

Juan's beautiful M1000 will indeed be the first BOMb here on the DMF. Just have to get it written up and get a page to display it on here on the DMF.

Awesome!
My vote is Monsters only, meaning the essential elements, frame, tank, motor. Just my input. I'm not clear how you want inputs?
what if it's an italian made bike but not a ducati? :P i know i know... sold the monster for a Husky and now sellin the husky looking for grad school money + old monster to rat out/mod (900 please) :e:v :e:v

why does it have to be washed?
part of why mine is so special is the protective coating of grime on it. it took me 4 years to get the color of the engine case right. it now stands out because it's not that bright shiny gray ;D

Imo, washing should only be required when the dirt is not an integral part of the bike. I nominate Knight's bike WITH dirt.

cool bike Juan. It looks like you also cleaned up the frame.
clarification on the rules.
may I submit my "monstered" 900ss once I'm done with it?
or are we keeping it pure-blood monsters? No hard feelings either way, I should have kept my monster too.
As long as your monster is special to you, send it in. ;)
