Well, days are getting short and the air is getting cold. When this happens, a young mans fancies turn to turning wrenches and busing knuckles....
So, once (if you actually do) you pull the bike(s) off the road for a winters rest, what's your project plans.
Me:
- Pull shock for service and install a Traxxion preload collar. And I'll probably paint the spring while I'm at it.
- 30K service + belts
- New chain and sprocket set
- If I'm not feeling too poor from the above, ceramic coating to the nut roasting exhaust
Well... I was going to:
1. Swap the front end - I had a guy lined up at RnR to fit GSXR1000 forks
2. Install an undertail exhaust
3. Finally do the tail tidy
4. Suburban Machinery bars or clipons
5. And, like you, if enough money left, coat the pipes.
6. Oh, and have DucPond look at the fuel sensor
1. Ride
2. Send ECU to Houston Superbike for flashing
3. Install Trailtech Vapor
4. Wrap headers
5. Paint the rear spring
6. Finally clean the damn thing
7. Swap sprockets and chain
8. Install new MC covers and levers

1. Ride
+1 on that. Just bought electric gloves and a pair of cold weather riding pants is next 8)
For the 750:
1) it needs a new rear spring
2) there is an occasional oil leak from the engine that I need to investigate
3) put some high-comp pistons and 800 heads if I can find them for cheap.
For the 900:
...
well, we'll see ;)

LIES!!
You're just going to sit around and play COD. [cheeky]
My winter plans include:
- add reflective red rim stripes (and then remove forks reflectors)
- 14T sprocket
- Get rear sets, exhaust guard, and upper triple powder coated
- install M3 suburban machinery bars
- Remove emmisions cannister
- install Stebel Nautilus airhorn
- Maybe purchase a cool belly pan I've had my eye on
We'll see how much of this actually gets done lol
Oh yeah, and forgot, now that I picked up some winter gear, Ride!
Since I'm bikeless I can help you out with these...

- 14T sprocket
- Remove emmisions cannister
- install Stebel Nautilus airhorn
- I've got the sprocket for you already and can help you install.
- I just removed my canister; fresh in my head. Plus I've got the correct screws to plug your intakes.
- My loudass horn survived the crash. Not a Stebel, but won't require a relay either.
Just ping me when you're getting motivated and we'll plan for a Saturday or Sunday.
PS: I have some other parts you may be interested in... ;)

620ie heads are the same as 800 heads FWIW FWIR and therefore might be easier to come by/across...hell...maybe in Wunmi's parts fiesta of the 695 after he gets BGB's 800, you can possibly pilfer the heads offa that bike maybe?
Hell yeah, thanks a lot man. That would be really helpful because I don't have the know-how or tools for some of those tasks. I'm hoping to get motivated enough to get my new bars installed this weekend. I will definitely ping you after Thanksgiving about the other stuff. I still have my Nautilus and the relay lying around from my SV, and I will be glad to pay you for any stuff you have such as your sprocket. [thumbsup]

Whatever works. I'm all about keeping it in the family.
BGB's S2R800 is supposed to arrive on the 18th. Hoping it will be the 17th and I can bring her to the meetup. otherwise I'll be on the 695 minus some bling.

According to Brad (bike boy's)
site (http://www.bikeboy.org/comp2vmodels.html), the 620 heads have the same valves as the 750. Do they flow better? Don't know. Is it worth it? Don't think so. :P
After some eBay surfing I am actually getting kind of mixed feelings about upping the 750 vs getting it a new engine. Heads and pistons will probably end up costing me around $700. I've found 900 engines for that much... :-\
Of course if I do end up putting a 900 engine in that rat, I'll start looking for upgrades to that the moment I hit the starter button :-[

UPDATE 12-20-2010
So, I've had a chance to get a up close and personal look at the PASO since I brought her home last week from DucPond, I gotta tell you it really does not need much.
1. The paint is actually just fine, I know Donnie had some repairs done to the fairing can't see where that was done however. Only issue is the decals, I purchased the correct set of decals, not sure I want to put all of them on, I'm for sure not putting the Agip decals on, but the 907ie decal would be nice, it will clash with the modern decal that is on there now, so will talk to Donnie to see if his painter can pull off the modern one, apply the Ducati, 907ie, and maybe the Desmo and then clear coat. The front fender has a military installation decal on it. I'm concerned it won't come off without scratching and/or it due to fading will be a different shade of red. I have purchased another front fender just in case, and if nothing else I'll get it repainted.
2. The trim around the instrument panel has a hole in it, looked like it was for a button or something. After some research I discovered it is for the Odometer reset, which is on a cable, one end attaches to the odometer, the other end is the knob that comes up through the hole. I found and purchased a new one from a discovered PASO parts stash in Ohio.
3. Passenger grab rail was all scratched and needs repainting, I took it off this weekend and will take it to the powder coater tomorrow. I think whoever designed that tailsection, light assembly, turnsignal, grab handle etc.. must have gotten an award for most complicated engineering. Even to change a tailight bulb is complicated.
4. Exhaust. I polished the header pipes, was not easy and it's a shame since most of it isn't even visible once the fairing is on. The mufflers are in okay shape, but there are some scratches which I think will polish out and the black pipe may or may not cleanup. If not I can have that repainted, but first I'm on a quest for something that generates a little more rumble, no luck yet.
5. The left side switch gear has a piece missing, it's a rectangle shaped area, which I found out was the headlight on/off switch in Euro models. I found another left side switch gear, for a 750, and bought it. Should fit, we'll see.
6. Donnie (DucPond) put on the center stand and eliminated the self-retracting side stand. Also repaired some damage to the swingarm caused by one or more of the rear sprocket bolts backing out at some time in the past. Was a common problem apparently on both the PASO and SS, improper tighting by owners doing their own sprocket install.
7. I ordered and received the fairing bolt kit in SS, it is a real good kit, all the pieces, proper washers, and even a digram that shows where everything goes. I like the kit so much I ordered one for the ST3 as well.
8. The seat cleaned up great, Nora did a great job and it really does look brand new - it's really comfortable as well..
9. Near the back under the seat, in front of the turnsignals, there are side reflectors, missing the right side, would not worry about it except that there are two small holes, this is where the pins on the backside of the reflectors go. I ordered a set of Italian flag reflectors, the Ducati correctness police would probably turn up their noses - but I don't care. I've got a line on the correct ones, if I find them I may get them and put them in a little bag and put it on the shelf.
10. The previous owner put a cruise control on it, just like the one I have on my ST3, which is also what Gary Eagan used on his record setting run on the ST4. I don't need this on this bike and the right grip is not on correctly due the the cruise control. I tried to take it off yesterday and discovered the hardware is American Standard, I have the new tool set I bought for Bubba but it was at home, so I'll do it this week.
Well that is the short list, except to add, I rolled her outside yesterday before I started working on her, she started right up! - Gene
Well I don't pull my bikes and hopefully this winter won't be like the last so hope to get out once in awhile. The M900 needs a little TLC, nothing major. The ST3 just got her 36K service and needs nothing, nor the KP. Bubba needs a tank bag,so plan to try and make an adapter plate to make a SW-Mototech Tank Bag work on it. Also planning to do a few mods to V92SC, 100ci jugs maybe, and a few to the S2R. And I will soon take delivery of another Duc that's in very good shape but could use some cosmetic TLC and maybe some mods, haven't decided yet. She'll be my Sunday rider to Livestock exchange, when I'm in town and make it out there. Thank goodness for a heated work area. - Gene
I'll procrastinate until March or April and then still not get the Guzzi running.

Plus, she knows EXACTLY how I will ride a supermoto. They're wheelie fun [moto]
front end on the S2R.. sbk calipers, new rotors, new springs for forks and fork oil job... have all the bits, new hoses en route
piddle on the 600ss. needs cosmetic things. wants engine rebuilt.
put off fixing the fairing on the FE again... $$$ constraints...

2. Send ECU to Houston Superbike for flashing - Pulling next weekend
3. Install Trailtech Vapor - purchased
4. Wrap headers - purchased
5. Paint the rear spring
6. Finally clean the damn thing
7. Swap sprockets and chain
8. Install new MC covers and levers
Done. Added to the list:
9. Replace failed Clear Alternative integrated tail with Motodynamics unit
Tail and master link came in today, will put bike back together tonight. Probably go for a short frozen putt to make sure everything is kosher from this round of updates then pull the ECU and send it out to the guys at DesmoPorsche.
Let hope this looks nice. Having Iron Works repaint the gas tank pearl white with a blood red racing stripe along with the front fender and rear seat cowl. And....once that's done, part of the gas tank is being Sharpied by some guy. We shall see how it looks at the end of the day.
Got some almost-new bits for the 750. Now let's see how much can I screw things up ;D

THAT my friend is a helluva project....
Oh boy - internal surgery!
Right now I think the worst case scenario is me showing up at DucPond with a few boxes full of engine bits and pieces. [bang] [laugh] [bang]
I'm sure it wouldn't be the first time someone has shown up there with a bike in boxes. Good luck!
I suppose I should wax the gravel rash as much as possible out of the RS and replace the left rearset and clipon-barend.
and maybe put on a new rear turn signal for the one left at Loudon.
but I won't.

actually, I am surprised you didn't put the 125 or 150cc motor in it sooner....maybe go for the 150 and scratch out the 1 in the casing stamp for "plausibility"...LOL
Stumbled upon this thing on eBay (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200554489520) a few days ago, and I decided to follow it, and as of last night I own it.
Only question now is where do I hide it from my wife... :-[ :'(
What am I thinking of? ??? ??? ???
Well some basterd recently posted this (http://radicalducati.blogspot.com/2010/12/rad02-pursang-by-radical-ducati-2010.html) online and it struck a nerve. I love my monsters but ever since I sold the 748 I've found myself missing something, I can't put my finger on it but it's missing.
On the other side I didn't like the mess of tubes and wires that come with liquid cooling, fuel injection and the ugly 4v heads. I want it something simple, clean and elegant (at least in my eyes). And I've decided to build it myself. [evil]
Ingredients? Obviously SBK forks and triple (already have those), a 2v engine, FCR carbs, and lightweight wheels whose availability will likely influence whether I go DSSA or SSSA. Between clip-ons and a handlebar the latter is more likely, the 748 really killed my wrists.
Issues? Hehe, loads! I don't have a proper garage where I can work or access to milling/cnc machines so that will be a huge limitation. But it's all good. [thumbsup]
So I think I know where I'm going and what I hope the end result will be: [moto] and [evil] and [moto] and [evil].

PASO Progress
Making some progress on it, decals are off the front fender and no residual fading that I can see. Now I have a spare front fender that I got off of ebay just in case. I also bought a NOS trip meter cable and installed it, turns out the old cable was lying inside the fairing, pretty corroded so used the new one, small, I mean eye glass small, flat head bolt holds it in the stem, used some blue painters tape with sitcky side up to capture that in case it fell while taking it out/replacing it. I got it out okay without losing it, tape worked, but lost it putting it back in - damn it. Crawled around on the floor for an hour and could not find it. Ended up using safety wire to hold things in place, seems to work fine. Got the passenger grab rail back from powder coating and installed it - but I have no tailight, just brake light. Also left turn signal is blinking faster than right. I did not touch the wires on the tailight assembly. Checked the bulbs, could not tell with these old eyes but looked like one of the filaments was bad, so I installed two new bulbs, still not working. Checked the fuses. there was a bad 15a, but once I looked at the schematic turns out it was the spare. So I'm going to start chasing wires, turn signals might be a bad ground somewhere, no idea on the tailight. I don't remember checking it when I picked it up, so I have asked Donnie if he or one of the guys know if the tailight was working? I found a set of Conti replica mufflers in Australia, will purchase them once I get shipping cost, not sure if I will have to add a Power Commander or something similar, I sent an email to Donnie to ask about that. I also took off the throttle lock the previous owner had installed, don't need it for this bike and the right grip did not fit correctly, now it does. Still very happy with the purchase and mostly enjoying doing the small stuff I can do. - Gene
Is it possible one of the connectors from the turn signal came loose or got pinched? When you replaced both bulbs was it front & back or back L & R? Maybe try swapping the bulbs as a triple check?
Can't wait to see it in the flesh (plastic?)
Every time I take off my fairing I forget to plug the signal back in and it isn't until I'm on the highway I realize what I did. D'oh!

Blinkers are all working, just the left side is blinking fast, looked at schematic the tailights and rear turn signals all have a common ground so cannot be a ground problem - bummer. The tank is metal, the fairing is some pretty sturdy, thick stuff, way thicker than the fairing on my ST3. Only way you are likely to see it in person is on a Sunday morning at Faquier Livestock Exchange, once the roads are clean and the weather rebounds. Maybe a VA club meetup. - Gene

Could it be the blinker relay itself?

Not sure how the old ones are wired, but if the relay goes all signals should be affected, as it is in between the power and the center pole the turn signal circuits, at least on the new bikes.
I got all the fairing hardware replaced with the SS kit I bought, the new weld nuts were a PITA but it's done. The Conti pipes came in and further research says that I need a different ECU, which FBF sells. While I had the fairing off I tried chasing wires to find the problem with the tailight, no luck and the previous owner has some strange wiring going on, probably to eliminate the clock in the dash which is known to drain the battery. So I loaded it up and took it to DucPond. Before I took it out there, Nora, my Fiancee, helped with getting it all spruced up. I'll check in with DucPond later in the week. I'm not convinced the Contis fit, we'll see. The stock pipes need some work, the black paint needs to be redone and the aluminum covers have some scratches they may not buff out. As luck would have there is set of 907 stock pipes that popped up, they were taken off the bike when new, so I purchased them, cheaper than getting mine back into presentable condition. Meanhwile I have moved onto other projects with the other bikes, while the PASO is at DucPond. Was nice meeting Travis Saturday while at DucPond. BTW there is another PASO 907IE in No Va, Mario just picked one up. - Gene
