After agonizing the past several days about 796 vs 1100 and what color, I made a deal at noon today on a new 2009 1100 monster...RED. I got tied up at the office this afternoon and couldn't pick it up....but Saturday is looking pretty nice so I think I'll be able to bring it home on Saturday.
I think I'll like it....it looks cool!

Congrats & welcome to the addiction!!
:D
You won't like it, you'll love it [moto]
We'll talk more about mods in a few days ;D
Congrats, RR, on the purchase of your new Monster! Welcome to the affliction. Have fun. [moto]
hmmm red... now you'll have to do the subframe red,
rearsets...
exhausts...
PC V...
and then...
and then...
and then...
no and then... (Ungeheuer likes to say this line)
and then...
Congratts [thumbsup]
Very nice! Let the madness begin. ;D [thumbsup] Enjoy...
Welcome to the craziest bunch of F*ckers you've ever met.
You'll learn real quick who knows their stuff (Duck-Stew, speeddog, etc...) and who's an a$$hole (me, etc...) [laugh]
In all seriousness, you're gonna love your new machine! [moto]

Congrats and red is the fastest color
Schweet! I was at the local Ducati shop today and drooled over the 1100. They have left over 2009 and wanted to strike a deal. I resisted... For now. What did you end up paying? My salesman said he could do $9900 out the door. Somehow that didn't seem right to me.
[thumbsup]
Ride safe.

congrats. be sure to change the front sprocket from a 15 tooth to 14 tooth, she will behave a thousand times better around town. Also take off all the frame stickers and the bicycle reflectors. [coffee]

+1 I wouldnt even bother riding it out of the dealer's with the stock 15t front - get em to chuck a 14t on prior to delivery.
And I'll add my congratulations to all the others too. You're gonna love it [thumbsup].

This just makes an Australian wanna cry :'( You can get TWO M1100s for what we have to pay. How much could it cost to air freight one to Australia? $1500?? $2000??
$9900 [bang]. Spoilt bastards [cheeky] ;)
congratulations and enjoy the new monster.
those new 1100 are sweet bikes, i think they are even better than the new evo that is coming out, much better looking exhaust on the 09 and 10 models than the new evo.
enjoy the ride and welcome to the monster community.
Congrats on the new ride [clap] welcome to the monster family and don't forget the pics!
So what mods have you done to it so far? You mean you plan on picking it up stock? You are a crazy bastard - you'll fit in nicely. [beer]
Congrats on the new bike. Oh, and since this is the internet - PICS OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN!
$9k for an 1100... not bad at all. Did you also get the $750 store credit for for the Fall Oppor2nity promotion? Or did that just contribute to the cheaper price?
Hey rideserotta,
My dealer only had the 09 marked down to 10,700....so 9900 sounds good to me....but I traded in a 2006 victory hammer and a little cash....and a case of beer(I've dealt with this salesman too often obviously!)
I think I did OK on the trade....BUT I really don't want to know at this point....the deal is done and I'm happy!
NOW IF IT WOULD JUST QUIT RAINING>>>>> I could pick it up today....want to get it home before it snows!

That sends shivers down my spine, RR. :'( It seems like EVERY TIME I pick up a new Ducati there's a frikkin' blizzard I have to ride or drive through to get home. I hope you have better luck. [thumbsup]
My local dealer charges $10 for pickup or delivery within a small radius (that I fit within). Maybe yours does too?
I really want to ride it home! It's about 25 miles to the dealer and I could take some back rodes home...will have to read up on the break in "stuff"....don't want to over do it!
I've checked the weather and may have a 4 hour window this afternoon without rain....high about 45....
If not today I'll have to wait until Saturday...with the holiday coming up....OH WELL....Sunday's high is 62 and I'll have the whole afternoon with my new motorcycle!
Let's see....what do I have to be thankful for....I was born in the time frame with technology for motorcycles....and have the means to buy one!
Rob Ray
I'll bet that 62 feels like a nice 78 degree spring day when you get out there on your new scoot!
I don't know how you can wait that long to take it home...
If you don't mind....
What was the deciding factor(s) for choosing the 1100 over a 796?
Buying a Ducati is seldom rational - I'm just curious about which of the voices in your head said what?
[moto]
My opinion, the 1100 is better in every way, except for being slightly heavier.
Hey stopintime....my decision of the 1100 over the 796....
I got to ride a 696 monster and an 1100 hyper demos....
I liked the torque of the 1100....seemed like it pulled strong from 3000 where as the 696 needed to be around 4000 rpms....
I would have liked the ABS on the 796, but no one around here had a demo so I couldn't find one to ride. From there it came down to my local dealer had 3 1100's....all three colors and no 796's....he wasn't interested in getting a 796 with "old stock" 696's and 1100's on the floor....so I would have had to go about 130 miles to get one.
Also, since my Ducati Dealer is also a Victory dealer he was interested in my trade in! I would not have been opposed to the 796, but in my situation the 1100 was avaliable and I liked the the low end grunt of it over the 696. I also kinda like the silver wheels, I had them take all three colors outside in the sunshine before I made my desision and the sivler wheels and the red really POP out at you.....it looks cool.... to my eye at least!
Rob Ray
Well once again, this alleged Monster you bought is all hearsay without pics. ;D

All Ducatis want 4000 rpm. If they could talk, they'd tell you so. The good thing is at 4000 it doesn't matter what gear you're in.
Best thing you can do is put a 14 tooth front sprocket on it. They should come attached to the price tag.
And oh yea, a full Termi kit. [thumbsup]

[leo] D Paoli is correct - you're violating internet laws. This is your last warning! ;D

I don't even have a ducati dealer. The closest one is 3000 miles away... And the only way to get there is by plane. Who's spoiled now?!? Haha, just joking. About the spoiled part, I really am about 3000 miles away from my nearest dealer. An Australian dealer might e closer to me in fact. I should check.
