Kinda cool, it would be interesting to have this on a bike. Go from naked to full fairings for the interstate.
Wow. Just...WOW!
I lost it when I read this comment that was on the site after watching the video:
QuoteAfter seeing the opening in the hood, I see how GINA must be pronounced.
That's nuts. Kinda weirded my out when the thing winked ;)
z4 meets Cristo
Glad he explained all those complicated words they used in the acronym. [roll]
Ok, that's cool, way cool. And that pronunciation comment way way funny..

cool car! How does it do in a wind storm? Will it take off like a kite?
That is sweet! [thumbsup]
I love how the hood opens, thats sexy.
Grrr baby show me what's under your hood.
that thing is nuts!
ugh
his whole
"rethink the way we look at the skin of a car"
my initial reaction was
"DUH"
race cars have never relied on the skin for protection from anything other than the elements
and they are leap and bounds safer than a production car
I've always believed tubular chassis were the way to go in car manufacturing
stamped steel unibodies are such a waste

But they are cheap and easy to reproduce. It only makes sense from a manufacturing standpoint to go with stamped steel...

which is why it shouldn't even be considered...
yeah yeah yeah
money
profit
manufacturing
blah blah blah
A car is a thing you should buy with reverence
keep and drive for 30-50 years
Our throw away built cheap society bugs me
but
the fabric idea is pretty cool
even if homeboy was a douche
On the plus side, no more door dings!
But isnt this going backwards in technology? Airplanes used to be covered in fabric too.

Yeah, but they didn't need to be crash worthy...

a cars skin has little to nothing to do with crash worthyness
Haha holy crap there are some gold comments under that video. Pure gold.
I wonder how bugs splat on that nice cloth ;D

It doesn't now, but when the planes had cloth, they did...
And at 60mph, the car would look about like photo (iii).

Beyond that, it's just another management/designer wet dream.

Then whats a crumple zone? Doesn't it dissipate some of the crash forces?(while also making your car's hood look like a crushed soda can)

For the most part it's the frame not the skin that saves your life and keep the engine out of your lap.
I kept thinking of old Greg saying "I gots a MAN GINA. Lookit my MAN GINA" as the hood opened to reveal a V8.

Thats what I was wondering. Do you just take the skin off, and throw it in the washing machine ???
I'm pretty sure it's wash right off. The bug splat should have a hard time sticking...
Shit! I just crashed the Car!
No worries, I'll just grab the Sewing Machine!
Wonder if you could rig up one of the headlights to "wink" at the cute chick on the corner checking out your spandexmobile?
